So when I switched the clutch on my s14, i did the typical noob thing and forgot to disconnect the CAS. It broke, car still ran and i already had a CEL from egr, but i still didnt want to use it to much. 10 min drive 2 days a week for school for 3 weeks. Finally got my replacement CAS in the mail for $20. I know its just held on by the bolt now but i was reading i need to align the crankshaft at TDC. I found a lot of this had to do with the sr20 though. Couldnt find anything that cleared up the KA.
So my question is, when installing the new CAS does the crank need to be at TDC for a 95 240sx (s14) with a KA24DE? I've obviously ran it without it with no problems but for it to be functioning and doing what its supposed to do, do i need to do that? Any help would be appreciated, thanks [:

TL.DR: Installing new Crank Angle Sensor on S14 with KA24DE. Do I need to put the crank in TDC?

Nope just bolt the new one into the bellhousing, plug it in and you're good to go. I had a similar problem and I just replaced it like that no problems. Reason being is that the KA24DE has a distrubutor as opposed to the SR's distributorless ignition system, thus being the reason why SRs may need to be at TDC in order to change it out.
