So recently my friends s13 with a rb20 swap had a bad week and after a bunch of bull it got towed to my house. I'm no professional but I'm a trained electriction, have been working on cars for years, and have done an sr swap in which I had to trouble shoot and redo the entire harness.

So all crap aside I have the car running again (after sorting out a ton of wiring problems) and I'm trying to adjust the throttle position sensor. It's operating backward. With the butterfly closed it reads 5 volts and read .45 at wide open. It's backwards!!!! WTF?

There's no way to flip or adjust it. It's like the tps is designed for a throttle body that spins the other way.

I have no idea what throttle body or what tps sensor is currently on it nor does its owner. Any ideas? Anyone in the san fernando valley have an Rb tps or even a running Rb that I can look at?

Thanks peeps.

Bumpidy..., car also has an afc neo installed. Not sure how this could cause the problem but I'm open to suggestions.

Curious if your harness is chopped and just re-soldered. The possible thing is you have the wires mixed up and its reading in reverse. I would verify the wiring.

This harness is chopped to shit. It's a nightmare. The guy pulled a bunch of wire that are all the same color and I've been cutting out butt connector after butt connector to re sodder (can't spell) and srink wrap.

To answer the direct question: I traced all three wires back to the ecu to make sure they were in the right place from the ecu. I did that before asking for help here. I had also tried reversing the two outside wires on the advice of a local engine builder. No dice on any of the above.

I did find the problem though. In the trunk there was a tps that was an identical copy but had a smashed up case. I took off the one that was on the car and compared them. They were identical. Everything except for the arrow showing which way it's meant to read and guess what? Of corse the one on the car is backwards. Put the broke ass trunk one, adjusted, and all is peachey.

I don't know how this car ever ran. It's one thing after another but right away- tps was reading backwards, the 4 wires for the crank angle sensor were melted completely together, iacv does nothing, and the oil pressure sending unit isn't hooked to any wire. But it runs great now that I started getting into everything.

Noob question, Did you swap the leads on your multimeter? I could be a tps for another car.
