View Full Version : one wheel more "inward" than the other

alright so i bought some new wheels, p45r2's, 18x10 +20 offset, and i have all new rear suspension arms (toe/ruca/traction link all by SPL) and i was adjusting my camber today to zero it out. i have both sides almost the same as i just did it by eye but the drivers side wheel sits overall further under the car than the passenger side does. i know the drivers side hit a curb by the previous owner but i dont think it would've shifted the hole rear end over? the rlca was replaced, and i had to swap the subframe out as the old one was bent but it slid onto the studs just fine. just wondering what could cause this, as i dont want to have to buy an extra 10mm spacer for the drivers rear to make it the same. heres some pics:

ya i can align it myself i just need to get it to the shop. no engine in the car yet though. i just wanna know if theres anything in the rear end i can/should look at.
i also looked at my traction rods thinking if one was longer than the other it might have an effect on the camber slightly. i lengthened the drivers side and it seemed to straighten the wheel a bit, but still not push it out like the other side, and i dont feel right with the traction links being so different in length

alright, and back to useful suggestions? im well aware i need tires. as said the car has no engine, ie. not goin anywhere for a while. i got those bald 255's for free, i wanted to see how they looked on the 10" wide rims before i went ahead and bought tires and hated how they looked.

I have the same issue and I found out my rear quarter was hit and not pulled all of the way out before being refinished.

^^^thank you. anything else i can look for that may be a sure sign something is messed up in the rear? like i said im not too worried as once i get my overs and an alignment i can match it all up pretty good, but like you said it shouldnt be that drastic
i have the same issue, look at the thread i created today!
hope it helps

thanks guys, im gonna jack the car up and take a detailed look underneath. in the other thread it mentions lca's and suspension components. i know my lca's arent tightened yet (but the bolt is through) but im sure that alone wouldnt cause the issue and everything else is brand new. lg54 if i find out whats up i'll let you know

Drift the other side into a curb. Problem solved.

lg54, i lifted it up and checked everything underneath and its all good. it seems that the angles are tricking me, as i measured at the center of the tire (unchanged by camber etc.) and its not off by very much. im going to wait until its aligned and then see what it looks like

240's are the first car I've seen that you can adjust to the same and it will be different (ie: ride height)
Get a real alignment and forget about it

ya when it gets an engine it'll get an alignment. im not hugely worried about it right now, all else fails i adjust how i put the overfender on one side so it all matches up

My S13 was doing that. Sometimes the left, sometimes the right. I put sub frame collars in. Problem resolved.

good to know man. i may end up goin to a solid subframe bushing at some point after a year of driving and see what that does

Why are you trying to trouble shoot when you haven't even gotten an alignment yet?
It doesn't even sound like you have a problem.

clearly not worried. people keep bumping the thread and i respond. if subframe collars helped one person with his "problem" than awesome, im gonna keep that in mind so that, in the future, if it remains unchanged even by alignment i can remember that as a solution.

^if the bushings and alignment don't help much could check this out
Your frame is tweaked. What the hell do you think happens when you slam into a curb?

Normal.
Get a 3mm slip on and call it a day.

Same problem, after alignment. My car has solid subframe bushings, suspension arm package (minus RLCA) Everyone says its normal.
3mm spacer part number?
