I'm trying to get a hold of a black Silvia (USDM-style) rear bumper. However, since I'm stationed in the UK, they're pretty hard to come buy without getting seriously overcharged, not to mention the exchange rate which makes it even worse. Plus, since it'd be able to be shipped MPS (free.99). I'd even try back home if the shipping wasn't such a killer. So, I could toss one of you guys the money for the bumper and something on the side for your trouble... I'll even send you back my current UK-spec in return one if you wanted. I'd really appreciate any help. Any takers?

You know how much of a fucking pain in the ass it is to ship a bumper? Plus, it wont go thru MPS since its too fucking big.

Take that back, it can go thru MPS, if somebody cuts it in half and sends it to you that way. Your best bet is to scour certain JDM forums and see if anybody's PCSing that way and have them bring it with them in their TMO.

Actually, yes, I've shipped a bumper, via MPS... so I know what I'm talking about; and not trying to come off as rude or an asshole, but it'd be beneficial to both yourself and others if you actually knew what you were talking about before you said something.
But, just for educational purposes, I'll teach you before you continue to spread misinformation:

1) I'm looking for a stock bumper... it'd only need to be bubble wrapped, taped up and sent. It's not fiberglass so I'm not worried about it getting here shattered. Pretty simple, huh? The hardest part would be finding it and pulling it off the car.

2) Here are the maximum allowances for MPS shipping:
- Weight - 70 lbs (a bumper doesn't even weight close to that)
- Size - 130 linear inches... a stock Zenki bumper comes out to 85 linear inches, +/- an inch or two ; add bubble wrap (hell, you could box it even), and you'll still be well within limits...

So, back to my original post, if anyone doesn't mind helping me out (and like I said, I'd pay for the bumper [obviously], and throw you some cash for your time in addition to sending my UK bumper if you wanted), I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I'm a military member in Japan. I'm happy that you know the rules and could educate us. Now, that being said, what do you consider "seriously overcharged"? Do you have a military address to send this to or is it a UK address? I shipped a set of side steps to the states the way you just requested and they haven't arrived to this day (think its been at least 6 months now), and it still cost 80$ + . Granted I've sent other stuff this way and its arrived safely I just wanted to throw that our there in case it hadn't been thought about.

Good call on the disclaimer because you did come off as rude and an asshole.

Yeah... guess I did. Sorry about that, but I've never been a fan of misinformation. I'm sure fliprayzin240sx didn't mean any harm by it, but still...

Anyway... yeah, I have an APO address, hence why I was asking for another military cat since APO to APO is free. As for the overchargning... a typical Zenki (USDM/etc.) sells here for around 150GBP+(~$250), so I'd be perfectly fine paying $80 since I'd be saving quite a bit...

K heres the fucking kicker about military APO, since its going to Europe, it will have to be shipped to the states, hit the USPS system to get to NY and go to the European APO system that way. Unless they've changed something in the last 4 yrs, thats what i've been told by Kadena's post office.

The best part is, I just shipped a fucking S14 Kouki wing to VA, actually to myself since I just PCS'd here. Needless to say, it cost a fucking arm and a leg since it was oversized (over 80 inches in total girth). How do I know? Cuz my shit was right on 80 inches, I kicked the edges in to get it to 79 inches and saved my ass $85. Best part is, its fucking broke...

Again, this is my experience with our military post office on Kadena. If that shit aint in a box, they wont even fucking ship it. So just bubble wrapping it by itself, aint gonna fly. And please dont bother explaining to me how the military MPS system works, I've dealt with the damn system long enough to know and have sold enough shit to know what I may or may not shipped. It all depends on who's measuring it and how they're measuring it. I had a guy measure a damn S14 sideskirt and told me its over the 110" girth and I had to mail it Space A instead of priority. A month after than, same shit but the guy who measured it said it was only 92".

With that said, considering how bulky and pain in the ass it is to ship a bumper, you'd be hard pressed to have somebody to go out of their way, pull a bumper out of the junkyard, drag it to the BX to get it wrapped at the packing place then drag it to the post office, and make maybe $50 for their troubles.

I'm not trying to be a dick but thats the sad truth of things, atleast where I was at. Lil shit, headlights, turbos, PFC, injectors, manifolds, people would be willing to ship stuff like that out. Anything bigger like seats, body parts, wheels, most people wouldnt bother with it unless they're making a couple hundreds off it. Most folks wont even MPS shit to Korea. I know cuz that was my mentality and most folks I hang out with were the same way. Slanging parts was a side job...you want it, somebody can get it, just dont expect it to be cheap. Cheap prices for local pick ups only...

But you know what, I'm in the giving mood...PM C72C in here and see if he could MPS you a bumper. If anybody could help you out in Okinawa, it would be him. If he doesnt, well time to ask around folks in Mainland because nobody else in Okinawa would do it.

If it was easy to send large items back I would be running a business.....I think I can ship freight but most people cannot wait 3 months.
