Red Top SR, stock tune, 3in exhaust from the turbo, no cat.
does anybody else have this "problem"??
cabin temps get crazy now, especially since the summer started.
but my feet take most of the hit.
i dont have carpet, but even when i did, i haven't noticed the difference between with or without the carpet.
its just fucking hot.

i have yet to check the timing, i know high exhaust temps usually mean lean a/f.
just trying to get a baseline of the general SR population

down pipe or any part of the exhaust touching the floor board...

nope. plenty of clearance. nothing is touching anything. today is 110F ambient. in the cabin at my feet... probably 200F lol.

Get an EGT. They aren't expensive.

Is it always hot? Or just when driving? At idle your temps at the mani should be 850*F running stoich. At 60mph, around 1200*.

At around where your feet are I would say 200* cooler. Don't quote me on that.

My dp is half an inch from my floorboard I never feel anything. You sure you just don't have sensitive feet? Jk lol

i had a vert that burnt my heel if i was driving with no shoes, i think it had a timing problem, but never looked to far into it. also had stock header.

a turbo creates heat. The 240sx never had a heat shield built into the floor. It was on the stock exhaust itself. Looks like its time for you to invest in some exhaust wrap, or heat shielding tape. This what happens when you run a 3" exhaust all the way back and dont do anything to shield it. Its basic science that heat rises, and your floor boards are the first thing in its path. Plus the thin sheet metal doesn't take much to heat up.

I have a sr in my s14 and the down pipe is not touching the chassis at all.
I can feel the heat from my down pipe inside the cabin when the cars warmed up. In the summer my feet start to sweat, Its been this way since I did the swap. Motor runs at normal temps, if not cooler. You can heat wrap the down pipe or have it thermal coated to lower the radiant heat. The turbo does create more heat.

it would have taken me a while to think of that, to busy overthinking

EsChassisLove: the exhaust is always hot. in the winter time it feels like nothing, just feels like the heater is on. but right now, its a fucking sauna in there. this time of year i drive without a shirt. ima check the timing this weekend, i dont wanna invest in a cheap EGT from a local parts shop or some BS, and a decent one is $100+. i already spent about 300 on other gauges. (water temp, oil temp, oil pressure) which are all normal temps.

lol. yeah. my feet are getting destroyed. this is the 2nd summer i've had the swap. i don't feel like going through the whole summer knowing my soles of my shoes are melting. i did buy some of that heat insulation that you 3m glue to the floor and its supposed to go under carpet and what not. ima try that out. that'll be the first tier of insulating layer. then i'll try the exhaust wrap which im neglecting cause my car is maxed out on Stances and the DP already has scrap marks. trying to come up with away to wrap it, then maybe use some big hose clamps to bolt a skid plate too it.

one thing I have found is the germans deal with this issue in a neat way, they have the heat shield clamped onto the pipe and allow for foreward or aft adjustment cause every exhaust has a different hot spot, long story short look at the mid 90's BMW exhaust shields, go to junk yard and pull one or two off, they are build real well, for what ever reason they dont tend to fall apart, might be aluminum or other alloy.
