What is the cheapest you guys have seen or bought one of these things for? My sloppy stock shifter is bothering me, and I have a couple bucks...
Also does anyone know if the B&M still feeds the chassis vibrations through it? I acutally wouldn't wanna lose that... it's a good indicator of when I'm in too low of a gear... hahahaha.

Here is a question about the B&M... In the new sport compact car magazine, they have a blurb on the B&M Skyline shifter, then they say the same shifter will fit in an sr20det silvia, or a 240sx... they say it will fit any Nissan 71c tranny? Are all of those transmissions the same? Is ours a 71C?

I got mine from www.arloautoaccs.com for $219 shipped. You will have to call him cause they don't list it on there web site. I still have not installed it I am waiting for my motor to get here so it can go in then...But I am getting a twitch

What about the install? Grant, I know you've got one, did you put it in yourself? Some people say you have to unbolt the tranny from the chassis, that true?

I got one for my boyfriend for his '96 for about $250. It definitely vibrates and makes noise, but it does the job. He installed it with his friend.

You dont need to unbolt thr tranny from the chassis. Just need to get under the car to get to the 2 front bolts holding the shifter base to the tranny. Its not to hard.

I've heard they rattle a lot from several sources. Is it annoying rattle? why does it rattle??? would a weighted shit knob help?

Its the #### knob it comes with. Soild aluminum ball, it just transfers all the vibrations and noise. A different knob will help a bunch.

It's still the same with whatever knob, you have to keep in mind how it's composed and how close all metal parts are to each other. It's not the knob as much as it is the whole shifter. If you put your hand down on the base and rev up to 4K you'll feel and hear it, period.

Can you replace your stock knob onto it? And how much vibration are we talking about? More than stock?

It vibrates A LOT more than stock. I really have no idea how the stock knob is constructed, so I can't tell you. I know that the tread part is really small... it will be hard to fit most shift boots and knobs on. The Momo knobs don't need to be treaded on: they're screwed onto the shifter, so they fit whether you like it or not . But... overall, I would definitely recommend this shifter.

Well if anyone out there knows anything about keeping it stock... there is no way I'm taking out my stock knob! Hahaha. Gayest thing you can possibly do!

The reason why it vibrates so much, I believe, is because unlike the stock shifter which is made from a non-ferrous(sp) metal. Meaning, it was poured into a template, which formed the shifter, the B&M(which I have by the way) is one solid piece of billet alumminum. That causes the engine vibrations to be transfered through it very easily resulting in the resonating sound you here. And yes its pretty loud, I can still hear it slightly even with my radio up a little bit. But the quick, notchy (dare I say Ferrari-esque) shift gate feeling is great. I let my friend drive my car the other day....and was blown away by how great the shifter felt. I'm with S13grl on this, if you have the cash.....get it.

Is there anything you can do to make the noise go away? I just want my car to still look and be like stock, I just hate the gearbox it's a sloppy piece of shit!!

Hmm, Dynamat? I doubt you'll get rid of it all together, but it may help...

Err sorry about that... I'm not gay... really I'm not... seriously.
I just really would ideally like to try one of these, but that is impractical. I'll just wait for someone to lay down a good honest review of it... when someone says rattling interior noise, I'm turned off. I'm the kinda tweeky person that sits there and kills all noises and rattles, because they drive me NUTS with I'm with someone else and don't have the stereo on!!

same here dude. I would actually rather have the OBX with less build quality, as long as it doesn't make noise.

Well how much rattling are we talking about? Is it absurd, obnoxious, ignorable? I really gotta know!!
