I'm still doing my research before going out and buying my z32, so I've got plenty of questions and hopefully I can get the answers I need in order to proceed.
I am looking at swapping the stock v6 out for a built up Ford 351 Cleveland. I have 3 engine cores to work with and I know these engines inside and out so no problems there. The question that I DO have is when people perform the LS1 swap are they using a front or rear sump oil pan? After that it should be a simple matter of welding up some offset motor mounts or using small block truck mounts to get the engine sitting just right in the engine bay.
The second part I was wondering about is how well will the z32 chassis hold up to about 500 ft.lbs. of torque running through a stick shift? Since I'll have the car apart anyhow I might as well get to welding in some reinforcement braces.
How rare are the hard top cars? Several years ago I had a camaro with T tops and that just plain sucked, there was no way to hide from the sun, the windows never sealed quite right, it would leak whenever it rained, and the seams around where the T top trim was the FIRST place that the headliner started tearing (not fun). If it comes down to it I can live with T tops so long as I can find the inserts that are supposed to go under them to at least block out the sun.
The last bit I wanted to know would be if only the turbo cars were equipped with the 4 wheel steering? I like to do a bit of road race once in a while and I like the added bit of control that a 4 link rear end gives but I feel that 4 wheel steer would be a bit more fun to drive.
Sorry about the long winded questions, but I want to get all the info I can before diving head first into a car.
