My Heavythrottle experience.
Ok for those of you who remember me I have a large update following my AfterDark episode. For those of you who don’t know here is the thread.

http://www.nissaninfiniticlub.net/f...&threadid=27161

I have since then completed my swap thanks to Jeff and Yury at Heavythrottle. I ordered my engine from them a week after that and received it about two and half weeks later. I also ordered a spec stage 3 and fuel pump from them. I also bought the downpipe and ss test pipe from projectsilvia. Running a 3in cat back made my the exhaust shop for 80 bucks mandrels and everything.

Here is the truck delivering the engine

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid73/p3e3412a19d40bba1e7a69b007abfc063/fb75634f.jpg

I was amazed at how clean the engine was also

Very happy that a stock nissan clutch and pressure plate was installed by prev owner and not 6 puck clutch. I threw in a Spec Stage 3

Here is the DSM 1st gen radiator and electric fans I am running. Notice how much thicker the radiator is compared to the factory KA.

Here is all I had to modify to my lower power brace.

This is before we start shoe horning the engine in.

This is much easier then trying to bench press the transmission although we have done it around three times prev on other cars.

(thats my friends dad helping guide it in)

Here I am guiding the transmission in

This is how we tested to see if it would run since I had not received my IC from ebay yet. Started on the first try and idled at a rock at 750 and still does till this day.

Here is a shot of the radiator and the IC piping that we made from 90-degree mandrel bends and silicon hose.

This is the finished product so far. Running strong and imo looking good.

Well that’s it for now. I really want to thank my friend Mike and his family for helping and letting me use their garage and tools. My girl Mandy for the support and photos. The car is a 90 fb and I found that the power steering lines from an s14 work out really well and require no modification.
Thanks,

Nicely done man. Does your car got pink pearl in it or something? cause that last shot of the rear quater panel makes it look like you got pink pearl. either that or my monitors messed up.

No, I want to add a pearl to it, prob when I do a front end conversion. Other things are ahead of that though.

I have some TEIN HE, and turbo timer that will be here Friday, I just replace the the TC rod bushings, and put in TEIN Tie rods, and ends.

Next I want to get a t28, just need to research the one I want first.

I have more pics, but Imagestation is down for the time being.

The valve cover had a 170,000 written on it I think, I can check latter its still on there LOL.

When I installed my 180sx gauge cluster, it didnt have a Odometer or trip meter so I had to install the one from my KA. When ahead and rolled it back so she has just around 3000 miles on her so far.

It really wasn't that messy. Unplug the KA from under the dash, and uplug everything from the engine. Then pull the KA harness out and throw on the ground for later use.

Feed the SR harness through firewall (same hole the KA came from). Swap the conncectors for dash harness, then when you drop in your engine hood everything up, and extend what is needed.

Only a few connects, three if remember. As far as rewiring the pluggs near the battery tray. I just pulled the wires from the connects and moved them to the right places int he connectors. Much easier and safer than soldering IMO.

The only mess was what was left of the KA harness.

Just on the engine swap (2500 plus 150 for shipping). I had a 90, so a few trips to the salvage yard fixed the ps problem. Like I said before the lines from an s14 fit perfectly and require no modification.

Not counting after market (clutch, and suspension). I think I got finished with about 3000 that is counting the IC, and piping, and silicon hose, hose clamps, fluids, a numerous trips to the yard.

Zak

I called around to truck diesal places. I got them for 10 dollars a bend, and 10 dollars a foot for the silicon hose. (2 and half inch piping)

The key word when calling these places is silicon hose connectors for "air to air intercooler". Once I started saying that I was being referred to more places than you can think of, since 2 and half is small for those trucks.

I am running a 1st gen DSM BOV, along with the DSM radiator, and fans.

Here are some more pics now that imagesation is back. Also the valve cover had 120k written on it. Not sure if that is the mileage, but that is around 75000 miles. The car runs like champ and I was able to get 14.7 at the track (my first time out, not as fun as autox)

Here we are at the track. (those are my other rims (bbs))

ic u got the dash swapped also. Did u just buy the cluster and put it on, was there any calibration u had to do? Is that the original odo or one from the new one?

Yeah I picked up from a guy who had a front clip, since he has a 91-93 fb. I just took it apart and swapped in my odometer and trip meter. I didnt callibrate anything the odometer goes in Miles and the gauges are right on with the KPH, my timer and gauge cluster are right on. (they both read in KPH)

I didnt swap out the sensor on the transmission, so I guess I didnt need to calibrate anything.
