Hey guys, i'm new to the 240/sr game here and need some opinions and direction please. I've searched this forum for a while, and finally picked up a good project. It's a 89 240sx hatch with a s13 blacktop swap. Mods are:
ISIS V2 tubular manifold
ISIS turbo elbow
ISIS turbo back exhaust
ISIS front mount intercooler kit
HKS step 1 cams
Aluminum radiator
Nismo thermostat
No name cone air filter on SR20 MAF
KYB AGX shocks w/lowering springs
Z32 front brakes
Front and rear sway bars
Cusco rear strut brace
P45 17x8 bronze wheels all around
180sx cluster
Short shifter w/Nismo ball
Drivetrain has 88k kilometers (56k miles)
I'm looking for some direction and advice. I have a few questions that i have not found answers to online.
How is boost control done on these cars? i've heard you cant just throw a manual boost controller on it and go. Is this true? My car has the stock T25, and I know they are useless beyond 15-16 psi. I'd like to put her at 12psi until I upgrade the turbo and injectors. If someone could advise me on how to control/adjust boost on these engines, either manually or electronically, I would greatly appreciate it.
My other question was about rear differentials. My car has the original 240sx diff, and I am planning on upgrading it. I am not a drifter, this will be a street car. What are the differences between the popular diffs? Also, where can I get them?
If anyone can recommend me to some good sites for parts, it would be a huge help. Google has pointed me to a few places, but if anyone has some inside information on good places with good prices and customer service, it would be a big help.
Sorry for the long post, and for my newbness. I've been around the car scene my whole life, from my 66 Dodge Dart GT convertible 340cu, to a 05 WRX STi w/504 awhp. I'm always changing up my rides and love the learning experience that comes with it.
