I bought a spare ka and took the head off and am going to begin to rebuild it.I have been searching and will continue to for the best options but was just wondering what you guys thought I could do to make 250-275...maybe 300 horses on a t25 probably a t28.Will the bottom end hold this much stock?Im not sure of the mileage so what should I look for to see if everything is in good working condition. And what would be the best head options?port, valve job, springs?Im not really on a budget but it is just a mild build so I dont wont to spend too much as I plan on building another motor down the road. Thanks

Well alot of guys run 400rwhp on stock motors - keep in mind these stock motors are in good shape to begin with. Of course your not getting anywhere near 400rwhp on a T25/T28 - you will be good to hit 350rwhp on a T28 setup.

With that being said throw as much money at the build as you can - the more the better it will be - you will just have to figure out your budget versas your HP goal.

Do alot of searching on used good quality parts to save.

For your HP goal of 300rwhp - spend the money on your turbo kit first - turbo the motor thats in your car now - you can hit your 300rwhp mark with a stock motor - have fun while saving for the motor build - build the motor then put it in the car - I am sure by this time you will be upgrading your turbo as the T25/T28 run out of steem quickly.

thanks JDS,I already have everything needed to slap on the turbo except for a fuel pump which i cant decide between bosch and walboro, and other things that dont seem to be necessary such as a turbo timer or fuel pressure regulator but i maybe wrong.I have the intercooler w/ piping, bov, intake, manifold, safc 2,boost gauge, aem wideband, oil pressure, water temp, about to invest in a new radiator as well. I wanted to mildly build this one for the summer then swap it.My buddy is getting a 240 and my ka is in better shape so im going to trade him and rebuild that head along with the bottom end...pistons,rods, and all that other good stuff. Thanks for the tip.keep them coming

I think nico or northwest nissans has a good head build thread. Things to make sure are correct

1. Head is true
2. Valves are in good condition
3. Springs are good
4. Set the valve lash (don't for get this)
5. Lap the valves correctly
6. Put everything back in the same hole it came out of

For the love of god an SAFC is NOT a tuning tool. You're only controlling fuel, not timing which is just as important. Yes you can make it "ok" until you're dogging it and detonate to hell. Trust me, i know...

never heard of setting the valve lash, but ill do some checking on it.I know an safc isnt the best,im going to get it towed and dyno tuned which is alright correct?

If they are tuning it yes. An SAFC is meant to be a piggyback system. Piggy-back on the tune that is to squeeze a little more power out of a set-up.

For setting valve lash you need the FSM and a micrometer. You will need to buy shims for the valves that don't have the correct lash (cheap)
