Steam is coming from under my hood like whoa. And I hear a wind noise coming from the motor even after it died. Now the car wont start. Also I set my timing at 22 and it still idles kind of ruff and wants to die sometimes. And wants to idle at 600 when lights are on

Id probably just advance my timing a little ,and as for the overheating issue you might want to check your thermastat it may not be opening and closing properly Which could of led to you blowing the head gasket
Just my 2cents..........

thats what i was thinking but still should start at least and i didnt have a huge white cloud behind me. unless i blew the head gasket it so bad that it leaked coolant into the cylinders yes no maybe so

my single cam wouldnt run if it was idling. it overheated to the point where i just ended up leaving the car at 2k at red lights. even then it died on me and i had to wait for it to cool off before driving more. after i got it home it wouldnt start for its life. lol

I know this might sound dumb... But as for the starting try the fuses. I blew the ecu fuse and wouldn't start cranked over just wouldn't start...

Do a leakdown test.
And a compression test says it ALL!!

Never rely on the oem temperture gauge. It pretty much only lets you know when things are too hot after it is too late.

Imo the next step after the compression test would be to do a leak down test. I guess it wouldn't really matter because whether you have a bad cylinder gasket, bad valve(s),or piston rings your going to have to take the top end apart. Sucks to hear of your misfortune

Guess you learned the 240 lesson: buying a 240 = u have to redo EVERYTHING on the car. Its a fricken 12-15 year old s14 (depending on what year you have), so shit IS and WILL BE broken and needs to change.
so do yourself a favor, if you gonna get into 240s, be ready to change EVERYTHING. Do it right yourself so you know for your own self that everything is fine.
If that aint you, then i advise you go and buy yourself a new scruburu or a new honda civic SI wit fart can.

Doing it right by doing it yourself doesnt mean its right. Many people look for short cuts because they are generally quicker and cheaper. Yes there are many things that shortcuts are 100% ok and some that aren't. Doing it yourself is only gonna be right if you have the knowledge of the correct way to do it and choose not to take the easy way out, if such one exists.
Have you seen alot of the threads on here yet? That's what these types of forums are more or less for....Do-it-yourselfer messes up and posts up what they did to see what may have gone wrong, or sees what others have done wrong so they dont make the same mistake.
But yes I agree that buying a 240 alot is gonna need replaced.

yes it is learning experience. I think what i was more going towards was like have it done right the first time(be it you know how to properly do it, or go to a reputable shop then if u have to) with no short cuts so you wont have to redo step a- z again, etc. But ya these forums are for people that want help. which is why we all here...well most of us hahaha.
