Which method should i use to do my wirings? I've heard that crimping is more reliable but i've also heard that soldering will give you a more "solid" connection. Also what sort of wires should I use to extend my o2 and MAF? copper wires?

Solder solder solder.

thanks for the fast response

hey i just thought of an idea right now actually...how about i solder the wires then crimp it, heat the crimp connector then put some heat shrink around that? extra secure i hope that will not cause any harm?

Smaller wires like you find on the engine harness -> SOLDER. Please don't crimp. Heatshrink when you are done (don't just wrap in a clusterfuck of electrical tape).

Use wire that is very close in size to the existing stuff to make soldering it easier.

lol had the question about two weeks ago.

I have an safc that I hooked up with crimp connectors. Wasnt working properly so I soldered the connection a few days ago. No problems since.

....I know safc's suck.

always solder and shrink

okay soldering it is!!

i am now stuck on a situation which i tried searching for earlier but didnt find an answer. I cutted the white SR connector next to the ECU but i noticed the harness has 3 black ground wires and the brown KA connector only has 1. Am i suppose to join these 3 wires into the 1 wire on the KA connector?

Crimp > Solder especially if you don't know how to solder and the precautions to take after you have made the solder joint...

If you know how to solder correctly, then solder. If not then crimp, but only if you know how to crimp correctly. Cheapo crimpers suck and the terminal can fall off. Solder is your best bet with heatshrink on top.

solder! wrap the 2 wires together then heat one end and have the solder and the other and let it melt in and ull see it get sucked to the heated end.

update! so I decided to solder, then heat shrinked following frsport (http://www.frsport.com/SR20DET-Swap-Engine-Harness-Wiring-Diagram-Guide-SR-SR20_t_26.html). So far i've soldered 5 of the brown KA connector wires but the 6th i am stuck on because i do not know whether I need to solder 3 of the black ground wires on the SR harness(circled in red) to the 1 wire on the KA connector(circled in blue) or am I suppose to do something different? Can anybody help me on this one?? I have a S13 blacktop btw.

You can also get heat shrink crimps which will make your connection waterproof.

You should never crimp, if you don't know how to solder call a friend that does.

As for the grounds, if my memory serves me correctly you join all 3 to the one ground off of the chasis connector. To give you the warm fuzzy though you should use a multimeter to do a continuity test to verify all go to ground.

ALWAYS solder

Where are you guys getting your info from? Crimps are always better than solder.. soldering is a last resort if you have no crimps... Show me a legit race team with solder in their wire harness (besides solder sleeves to terminate shields on shielded wires)..

Key word there bro RACE team with the PROPER crimps for ease of use, solder > crimp on all levels....

F15 and F16s are Solder not crimp.....and trust me they have 1000 times more vibration than any race team you can think of!!!

You have almost no idea what you are talking about.

What I should have said at first is, if you have the proper tools, crimp it.. If not, solder it and use adhesive lined h/s to seal it from the environment and provide a strain relief. If you don't have adhesive lined h/s then double up using the right sized h/s to cover the solder joint.. To select the right sized h/s measure the diameter of what you are trying to cover and multiply it by 1.5... find that sized or similar h/s tubing and use it.. If you can get 3:1 shrink ratio tubing then your h/s can be up to 3x the diameter of what you are trying to cover.. Most heat shrink you will find in the stores are 2:1...

Also, do not solder your crimps, especially if your crimp is half-assed..

i agree with r33e8. If you have the right tools for crimping and good splices then do that but in cabin only. If your going out of the cabin solder and heat shrink is the way to go.

thanks for the tips guys.

So nobody has the answer for the 3 ground wires into 1 wire stated above?

Personally when i connect wires together I solder, shrink wrap, wire loom in that order.

Depending on your space and what you have available it would depend. but if i have supplies and space id rather solder.
