I fucked up. Got home from work and I wasnt too tired so i decided to work on the car. I was finishing up tightening the manifold nuts and on the last one I went to tight and cross threaded the head. The whole stud came out with some metal shavings. So I know the head is cross threaded, it won't thread back in. its the bottom right hand corner stud (s14 sr)

Upon researching I see that tap to a bigger size and helicoil it is the best solution.

But the engine is I the car and I really dont have the time or cash to do so or take it to a shop.

What if I run with all but that one stud?

shouldnt be a "major" problem, ive done it a few times...

also you dont have to pull the motor, just take off the manifold/turbo and you should have the space to drill n tap.

Im going to have to give that a try. I figure not having a stud in on a turbo car wouldn't be too smart

it can casue an exhaust leak which leads to bad gas mileage, crappy idle, boost/vaccum problems, and a exhaust smell in your car!!

Retapping it isn't that hard, just the set might be a couple bucks. Be patient and it's pretty simple.
