I'll be the guy throwing gang signs at you. Better check yourself before you wreck yourself, SON!!!
Naw, but on da real YO, good luck and I'll be cheering your miscolored ass on. Oh yeah, and don't get tagged by someone when you make it to the paired rounds. Might have a crazy fool thinking he's Ueo and cut down on the inside of you or something.
It's so sweet that Ueo is going to be there. That guy gets sooo into it. Aaron, are you going to cry to?
And one more thing, if you wreck, pull a crowbar out and beat down the people that try to grab the scraps off of your car. F'ckin bastards from the last event at Irwindale!!!

I was there...
Nice job dousan. ^_^
and who was the dude in the boxter? :squint: I felt bad for him on his first run! but thankfully the crowd cheered him on in his second attempt.
I got some pics and a few vids of the 2nd(?) group full of hachis. I don't really know what format they're in so if somebody can enlighten me on the casio format ill be more then happy to upload them someplace.

GOOD JOB DOUSAN! Just to let everyone know he made it into the top 16 which was really awesome.
This competition was supposed to be amateur drifting, but it didn't really end up that way. It's funny how D1 drivers are considered to not be professionals...hmmmm...strange
It was so much fun to hang out with all the usual crowd...and then meet new folks as well...
I was a little suprised that people wern't more supportive for the drivers, I think that we were the only people who were actually cheering!
I had fun though....eventhough it did take me 8 1/2 hours to get home...hehe

The competition had no D1 drivers; they were doing exhibition runs as a group. The only ones competing were cars with a "Falken Tire Drift Showoff" car number on the passenger side; 1 - 40.
The format was 1 - 20 drive, then 21 - 40 drive... then you eliminate down to 16, then 8, then 4... then top 4 tandem runs until winner is decided.
There were 2 laps practice before competition, then 2 laps for actual competition. Both laps were scored and from what I saw of the scoresheet, any minor neutral steering/understeer would be automatically counted as a zero for the run (in addition to spinning out).

alex, she's talkign about USA D1 drivers. not d1 japan drivers.

Thank you Dousan...I guess I should of clarified that more....
I know there were no D1 Japan drivers...that would have just been crule...but having D1 usa drivers was still unfair in my opinion.

I was there cheering for everyone, very impressive :)
There were a least 10 corollas out there right? On the 210 going there ran into a SR20 powered one, At first I was like WTF because he had a Silvia badge on the back - then his passanger yelled out "SR20 SR20" lol
I had a blast, I know its nothing compared to competition, but this was my first event and the first time i smelled burned tires alll daayyy long lol

there is a strange feeling when you are only 1 out of about 16 people who cheered for the drivers. John Candy is more alive than the crowd at Drift Showoff. Dousan did great but had an unfortunate little spin at the last corner on one of the later runs. The east coast guys killed it nasty style like Nasty Nate.
the pro demos went like this;
Rotora Group with Ken Gushi and Ernie Fixmar
Falken group with Seigo Yamamoto and Yoshinori Koguchi
Drift Xtreme group with Ueo, Izumida, Kazama, and H****** (dousan help me out there)
Koguchi is such a pimp, he can put that car whereever he wants. whats that, you want him to drift the entire corner at 6 inches from the wall? no problem. The Drift Xtreme group was insane, 4 cars running in the same group and they would constantly pass eachother mid drift. this was all flawless except for once when i think Ueo hit Izumida slightly and there was very slight damage to both cars.
DriftHeaven - Charlie had a little problem with his hood popping up as he went for his run. uh tahts it i guess. whatever.

the guy in the brown LHD us 240sx was Hiraoka---he is a D1 driver drives the TRUST s15 or his Silver s13 (pimp) he got 2nd or 1st at ebisu on option #91 i think.
he is so cool. very chill. he works for K-Style iirc. lindsay knows. he was here in the USA for Driver Search as well but didnt drive. came w/ Kumakubo and his crew (kumakubo is Kstyle)
Kazama is nuts. left foot donuts while his body sits on the door (1/2 out of car) haha..incredible
he TOASTED that ferarri's clutch. smoke doesnt come out that much when the tires dont spin. haha..bleh smells nasty. it was pretty funny. i loved his max speed reverse into a 180 and hit the corner drifting! incredible!
the pros are aweomse but i wish team orange was there. Tanaka and Kumakubo regularly tandem and know eachother well. you could tell the DE guys werent so confident with eachother

12 dollars.
yeah it was my fault, i forgot to latch the pin... i was so excited in going out! heheheheh. fortunately it was a carbon fiber hood, so my windshield was spared and so was my roof. but my sunroof however.... was shattered in to million pieces. nothing else happened to the car. i also lost my frp bumper to the striped barrier.

How is that cruel? It is an USA event, with USA drivers... I really don't see how that could be possibly bad in any way.
The D1 USA drivers that were invited (8 of them) were INVITED to participate *AFTER* the D1GP USA Driver's search event. They were INVITED. That doesn't mean they are on the same level as D1 drivers, nor does that mean they are professional drift drivers.
If you want to talk about cruel... then I can throw out Rhys Millen with his racing experience (similar to where Keiichi and Orido and Taniguchi came from, with racing experience), Kirk (driving JSpec S13, with many years experience with a 500HP Skyline in Okinawa, someone that Ernie looks up to), etc.
If anything, this event shows that there is enough of a pool of drivers to have competitive events next year (and not just in one location). I really don't see how any of the drivers that participated in D1 USA that also drove on Sunday were "professionals"... none of them drift professionally and none of them get paid to drift.
Not even Ernie or Ken get paid to drift.

Sorry Alex...didn't mean to get on your bad side....
Although the D1 usa drivers are not paid to drift, they are sponsered...and I know a ton of people who would kill for that opportunity.
And I agree with you about Rhys Millen...that was the point I was trying to make...a person with that much experience shouldn't be out there competing with amatuers...I'm not saying that he shouldn't be allowed to compete at all, I just felt that when an event is promoted as an "amatuer" drift competition, they should be more selective about whom they allow to compete.
I think it would be awesome to have competitions next year...I was very impressed by a ton of the drivers...I think there is a ton of U.S. drifting talent.

That was Beautiful, I was right on the wall as he passed and mind you he was one hand waving at that point as well LOL - Masterful
I was tripping out on his vent thingy he had - air duct sort of pointing to the driver - was that because all he would breath without it is tire smoke?

Ya but then where do you draw the line? If you're good, then you can't compete? That doesn't seem fair. You can't say that just because someone has sponsors, or is experienced in another area of motorsports, they can't participate. Also so far in the US there are ONLY amateur drift competitions (except for D1 USA I guess). Where else would the people with motorsports experience compete in drifting? And wouldn't it be kewl to say you competed with Rhys Millen? :D
