Hey guys, having an epic problem and noone in my area can figure it out. Here it is, somewhat long but i numbered so its easy to trace. Thanks.

Problem began as:
1.Coilover burnt up while driving.
2.One of my connectors burnt as well. Used a friends harness and new coilpack and it burnt up in 3 mins.
3. Since then I have gotten a new coilpack and checked wire harness and regrounded it to the intake mani.(also sodered a new clip to my harness that burnt up and I have used both of our harnesses regularly to check each time)
4. I have also wired in a Q45 ignitor chip to see if the chip was the prob. There is still no spark on that #1 cylinder(its the one that burnt up in the beginning).
5. I changed spark plugs and that didnt help either. There is 12 volts getting to the #1 coilpack not only did I check with the multimeter but it gets hot as well after a few mins of letting it idle like it will burn up like the other ones if i let it keep running.
6. When I just have the coilpack out while the car is ideling and I unplug the connector it seems like the car runs better, when I plug it back in it kinda bogs a bit, again this is while the coilpack is OUT of the spark plug hole. I have two different coilpacks that I alternate each time i try something new. When I plug one of my bad coilpacks in using this same method the car dies instantly.
6. *NOTE* This is not a freshly swapped motor. I have been driving 6+ months with no problems at all and attened drift and autox events. It just happened all of a sudden.
7. All I can think of is maybe the wiring that goes to the ECU(but i just highly doubt that) or I read there are 4 Coil Drivers in the ECU, maybe one failed?

can you post a video . and it could be one of the drivers in the ecu

Ya I can post as many vids of whatever is needed to be seen tommorow. It just seems so weird to think a driver could have failed cuz I have never known of that to actually happen to anyone.

yea it is pretty freaking rare for that to happen but sadly it does. if worst comes to worst get a buddy wit the same swap and take his ecu to try it since you know its a known good one and see if it burns the coil up. is it throwing any codes?

Its not hooked to CEL (was like that when I got it and I never messed with it..)

i believe you can still pull the codes by the ecu led light. i pulled this info off sr20forum.com so if im wrong im sorry lol

Locate the ECU (under your dash in the center) and look for a small screw next to a LED (towards the back end).
Turn the ignition to the ON position (engine not running).
Turn the screw fully clockwise, wait 2 seconds, and then turn it fully counter-clockwise.

The LED will start to display the code by a series of long flashes, followed by a series of short flashes. Your check engine light on the instrument cluster will also flash in the same sequence. This sequence will repeat.

I have also checked the whole engine harness and opened the ECU up and everything is good. Should i reset timing and see if that is it?

Was there ever any solution to this? I have the same problem going on right now, coil pack burnt up took harness with it, swapped 2 coil packs new harness made sure it was grounded and it idled fine, when i went to drive home coil pack went up again. Any Help would be great!

You have another wire melted together I dont remember all the wire colors but the black/yellow wire is your 12v constant (I think the black) is your ground all the others are trigger wires to your ECU. Take your test light and attach a small piece of wire into the 12v port of your #1 plug attach your alligator clip to the other end of the short piece of wire turn the ignition switch to on and check the other 2 ports only 1 shoud light the test light if both light up then trace the trigger wire to where its shorted to gound
