SoCal / San Diego Meet.

Hello everyone. i was have this idea of a SoCal san diego meet for S chasis and Z chasis cars, and maybe i'll hold a fundraiser for Zilvia.net.... If i could get this going, i would be using this for my senior exhibition project in school. The date i've decided on was Saturday, JANUARY 10th 2004. i know its quite a while but hopefully with it being a long time from now, we could get the word out a little more and have a big turn out. so i've been thinking about this for a while and the only thing i can't think of is a good location. please can you guys help me out with Deciding on a location and your thoughts of this whole idea. possible if we select a proper location we could try and work out for a few vendors to come out and sell, if they want to.. Thanks alot, any comments would be appreciated.:D

I think this would be cool!! If you did it in mid-late Jan, I'd be so up for it... early Jan, I won't be back yet.
As for location... I have no idea. At all. Anything goes, but if you want it big, it'd have to be somewhere with enough space to accomodate all the cars, preferrably somewhere we can rent... and renting means money... but whatever. We could always do it somewhere in the desert for free. :D

Yeah sounds like a good idea. I'm not exactly sure what my track schedule will be like (running, not cars ;)), but if i dont have any meets or training that day, i'd definitely be down for it! Keep us all posted! :)

Locations...

the strand in coronado, they have BBQ pits and LOTS of parking..very rare for it to be buisy.

mission bay park again...central SD and right off the FRWY.

Maybe Dana Point area? That way the LA people are more likely to make it down here? (hahaha just playin)

I will think of more..maybe we could post a poll with different locations and get a concinsus(sp)?

I was thinking fashion valley mall or LaJolla. Also, welcome to Zilvia. There are quiet a few SD people on here, sooo you should feel right at home. ;) We try to have meets fairly often, also socal240sx.org posts a LOT of meets, but they are normally up near LA/OC area. Well, hope that helped you out....

Score!!!! I would hafta drive like 2 mins lol, but there is usually never any parking in La Jolla near the beaches or at the parks especially at the top of soledad, cuz of all the tourists, I think UTC would be cool, at the top of the parking structure for some cool pics at dusk...:D I'll be there!

What about a cruise to julian for some pie and twistie roads or sumthin???

UTC/ LaJolla area is a good place to meet. Since we all pretty much live in the San Diego area. UTC parking structure sounds good. I think it should be fairly empty on a saturday night.

There is also Qualcomm Stadium, not sure if it cost alot to rent out the parking lot, but maybe you can have the drifting school or legal drags come out? Might be able to get some vendors then.

qualcomm is out of the picture for drift events, with all the ppl that live near, they dispise the autocross, and hate the drags. all the tire squeal, smoke and marks left behind, the stadium also doesnt want all the black marks in the parking lot, cuz it makes the arial shots ugly, atleast thats what ive heard from alot of the organizers of autocross events there

So how many people here in san diego would actually pay a small amount to just tear up some tires.??? I know of one place wich would not cost to much. I am not saying I can set it up but if there is interest I can try. Interest meaning if it could be done for 50 or 60 a person how many would fully commit to it. I'd definitely been interested!!! If was just the San Diego people, that would be awesome! I'm not trying to exclude anybody or anything, but i think it would be cool for us SD people to have our own private drift event. I mean, the LA guys do it all the time, why cant we! It pulls pretty hard even at stock boost. Now back to the SD track meet. I just got off the phone about the track. It looks as though we are going to try and set it up. Give me about a week to get all the info. This is still in the planning stage (i.e. insuance, date and price). We will try to keep it at 50.00 but depends on how many want to do this. If this goes we should be able to grip/drift run groups. More details to follow.

I'm totally down for a private meet. I'm willing to pay $50 to $80. Right now is not a good time for me because I need a new radiator and new brakes. I'll also need to request the day off 2 to 3 weeks prior to the meet. Man, this is tougher than I thought.

do you ever go to a friends house or to a fast food place with friends, etc. and just hang out? thats what a meet is except with new people

thats the best part of the meet. Just fucking around doing nothing and geting freezed to hell. Without that we have no foundation for a meet my friend. Oh and generous helpings of krispy kreme always helps for nostalgia sake.

miramar speed circuit is kinda pricey. it's worth the money to learn, but I don't think a lot of people would be down to go. It costs like 23 for 10 minutes and you get around 14 laps in if you don't get caught up behind slow people.

i'd say the track is about twice as big as boomers in clairemont. i'm not that good at estimating. let's just say you can get up to 40mph on the stretch.

Sorry it took so long for my reply on the track event, but at this time I cant do anything to set one up. I will continue to try to do this but as of now no track event. If I can arrange somethign at a later time I will make a post for san diego people. Sorry about this but I cant do anything as of now. I will try yo make whatever kind of meet does get setup to meet some of the SD people.

Weve discussed this at some our little gatherings. Qualcomm will not allow us to host a drifting session at their parking lot because it tears up the asphalt :rolleyes:
