Grant Ranch Meet

:aw:This is just a thought but we need to set up a potluck meet at some park in the hills. I think Grant Ranch up Mount Hamilton would be kewl. That way there's a drive there anda drive back. And once there we can have a BBQ and crub.

This is just a thought. What do you guys think. We could meet up somewhere first then drive up there in groups. For those that don't know there are two ways of getting to Grant Ranch one is up Mount Hamilton and one is up Quimby Road in San Jose and both drives could be really fun. :cool:

Grant Ranch is in San Jose. There is about a 15 minute drive from the city to the park and the entire drive is nothing but curves. I like to take the drive at night. Is a great and fun drive. It's also two different drives, One would get us there and the other one would get us back.

Come on everyone show me who'd be interested. Shiet if you got younger brothers or sisters bring em along to the BBQ.

If I get some peeps who are interested I'll set it up. I'll even bring some Hotdogs, drinks, and chips.

Okay. Here it is. How about Saturday, November 1. We meet up at 12:00 noon at the Save Mart Shopping center on McKee and Toyon in San Jose. It's in the East Hills. From 680 you take the McKee Road exit towards the east hills. We'll take off at 12:30 to Grant Ranch, where my wife will already have a fire going in the BBQ grill and all the drinks and stuff. We'll drive up there. Then I'll turn around once we get to the top and head back to get anyone who got their late and doesnt' know the way.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

And it doesn't have to be November 1 it could be the 2nd.

Grant Ranch is in the East Hills of San Jose. It's about 20 minutes worth of winding roads that makes a really fun drive.

Okay so here's are the details:

Sunday, November 2, 2003
1:00 P.M. at the Corner of McKee and Toyon
SaveMart Parking Lot, (I'll Post the Address Later)
Leave for Grant Ranch at 1:30 P.M.

My wife will be meeting us at Grant Ranch with a BBQ going. I'll supply some hot dogs and burgers. I'll Also supply some drinks, and Patato Chips.

Let me know who's going. I don't think it's going to be a big turn out cause not many peeps are responding, but Let me know any wayz who's planning on going or who can go that way I won't buy to much food. I am on a slight budget.

Yeah this is definately going on. I already bought the Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chips and Sodas. You guys want to BBQ chicken also or some steaks.

Okay me and my wife are going to get to Grant Ranch about 11am to find a nice BBQ area where we can park close by, but I was just told right now that they sometimes charge $4 per car to come in. Is that kewl with everyone. I want to get there early so that when the meet starts we won't be trying to find a parking area or picnic area. I also want to get a place close to some rest rooms.

If not let me know. I don't want to start BBQing all this food and nobody show up.

For those who don't know Grant Ranch it's 8 miles of really nice turns, and mountain driving.

Okay I will be at McKee And Toyon at exactly 2pm on Saturday, so we can take the drive into Grant Ranch, but for anyone who wants to show up at Grant Ranch before 2pm are welcome to show up. I'll be there early. You can Just look for a Red S13 Hatch with a type X spoiler.

But don't trip I'll be at the meet up at 2pm for the drive for those who get there early they can come back down with me if they want to drive back up with everyone.

My wife and son will be staying where we set up to make sure nobody takes the spot while we are gone.

Don't worry I got the day organized I hope you guys show up.

Al, depends on what time and what you are doing. I live in that Area, I shop at the SaveMart where we're meeting up at, actually I used to work there. It won't be a problem. I even know the security for the shopping center. david.

I considered the Halloween thing. That's why I set it up for 2pm. I wanted to give everyone enough time to sleep in. Some people wanted noon, but not after halloween. Hopefully 2pm is enough time for everyone to wake up and come off there buzzes. LoLz.

Al, It's just a drive I dont think anyone is going to be pushing it. If they want to push it once they leave that's up to them. But it shouldn't be too bad and it should be a nice drive. I do the drive all the time.

And yeah I know what you're talking about. I do the same thing in reverse. At Night around 11pm or Midnight. I head up McKee cause that's where I live I head up Hamilton to right before Grant Ranch than I come down Quimby.

Okay guys. Here's the Address of the parking lot where we will be meeting.

San Jose, California 95127

And here are the basic directions.

From Highway 680 exit East McKee Road. Go East on McKee Road. Pass two stop lights, Capitol Expressway and White Road. After passing White Road it should be about 1\2 mile on you're left hand side. There is a third light which is at the entrance to the shopping center. So if all else fails, when getting off the freeway go East, and make a left turn at the Third Stop light and that will place you inside the shopping center.

There will be pleny of grub.

i don't know about you, but i don't generally think of 11sec civics as road course monsters...it's usually either one or the other...not both when you are in that realm...

and i would LOVE to have my civic back...NOT in place of my 240..but as my daily driver..you just don't get any better...
