ok..so i did the electric fan swap on my car and had a set of dual electrics (one cooling, one A/C in same housing) laying around so i decided to throw those in..anyway they burned out after a couple drift events in which they were being asked to run continuosly for hours...
now the car is without fans of any kind...and, to my surprise, in normal, everyday driving it is fine..i just can't hit any traffic..lol..
now my question...
what fans would you get?
single? dual? size? brand?
my thoughts:
as i said, it cools fine in normal driving (even around town stopping at lights and stop signs) under non traffic conditions...so i was thinking single..BUT, i will be swapping in an SR within the next couple of months...from what i understand keeping this as cool as possible is quite advantageous...
so, i'm leaning towards FAL-120 (single, shrouded, 12in, 1250 CFM airflow) or FAL-220 (dual, shrouded, 12in, 2500 CFM airflow)
obviously the difference in price is rather large...

thanks for any, and all, opinions..

For my sr20det swap, which i have yet to install, i bought a flexalite Black Magic fan....summitracing.com keyword: black magic. Single fan - 2800 cfm. I've been told by a few places this is the fan to get, so i got it.

I know a guy that's had a blk majic fan for almost 5 years now, he swears by them. I don't know the cfm, but it's the type that has the digital tempeture readout on the fan shroud. It's a little spendy but very nice.

If you are going to get an electric fan, make sure you get a reliable one. If your fan goes out during a hot day or during track time, you are up ****'s creek with out a paddle and believe you me, you dont want to fall into that mess. The only electic fans I have ever bought have Black Magics', they have always worked great for me.

I am running the dual FAL fans with an aluminum radiator, high pressure radiator cap and lower temp thermostat on my turbo motor.. these fans are quite powerful and are very sufficient in cooling the motor while sitting in traffic.
Keeping an e-fan on all the time is pointless, might as well keep stock clutch fan.. they are superior in the amount of air they can pull and will do a much better job in cooling the car.
The entire benefit in going with e-fans is being able to selectively turn them on and off. Afterall, you shouldnt NEED your fan unless you are sitting on traffic. When I lay the hammer down and keep the RPMs high, the temps drop like crazy as the motor runs super cool. Fans are ONLY needed for traffic.

well the extra HP is nice too..:)
but i completely agree with you...i have already wired a full manual override switch to the fans so that i may turn them on and off at my leisure regardless of engine temperature...
ok, looks like a nice FAL Black Magic single 15" fan is the way to go...
thanks guys..

Yeah.. well I'de love to see the dyno if that modification actually freeing up HP. Dont get me wrong, I think they help, but I doubt its much if any.
