yea this sint a sr or ka, but the same concept implies
heres my issue, my 1jz overheats like a mofo mid run. like 30 seconds into drifting.

im pretty sure i have air in my system

the heater core line that runs around the back of the motor was forgotten about during my swap. so i simply have the line going across the top of the valve cover. this is the HIGHEST point in my cooling system. about 2-3 inches higher then my radiator cap.
i cannot reroute the line unless i pull the motor or cut a hole in my new firewall.

so, could i just put a bleeder valve on my heater core line? get a piece of steel tube/ weld a nut into it, and bolt it down once the air bleeds out?

or is that line being just too high, gonna eventually push the water out into my resivour?

pretty much to broaden this, can you have a coolant line 5 feet in the air. as long as you get the air out of the top? when the car is off, wouldnt you think the highest water point, would shove water into my resivour causing me to "loose" coolant?

Put a bleeder valve on that line, and you should get all the air out, also the best thing to do is actually run a tube after the valve so when it's open it'll flow fluid and air bubbles out. I have worked on MR2s and other cars that have bleeder points on the cooling system since their cooling system routes up and down and goes higher than the radiator cap... which is near the engine and not on the radiator, so there are several points that need to be opened and bleed out. I think if you find an MR2 SW21 heater core valve the diameter should be just right for it. Search around and just put one in line since the toyota hose diameters are roughly the same per vehicle year.

Have. You tried draining the system, jacking the front of the car way up so the radiator cap it above the line and very slowly filling the system? That might work, if not, a bleeder valve is def the way to go

^^^Good idea since its generally the best way...however if that hose is 2-3in higher than the radiator that front of the car would have to be really high in the air.

If it makes your life easier just go with the bleeder.

Same with what he said ^^^^ i would first see how high i can jack the car up. and if its still not high enough go with a bleeder.

do you use the car only for drifting? or something you drive around too? what kind of fan(s) are you running?
