alright, I know it's a stock automatic s14 but I thought it was capable of doing better than a 17.33. I removed the muffler, put on an air filter, and gutted the interior. That and I have 17' rims on which work against me. is that right for a stock 240? I figured it was at least in the 15's.

Whats your 60' time? Post your time slip if you could.

17 foot wheels will do that to ya. but really, you can't expect much of out these cars, stock, or even one with an air filter and exhaust system and auto (or even a manual). from what i've seen from other automatics, low 17's isn't unusual. but if the car is fun to drive, then there's nothing wrong with that :)

That is kinda slow.
I remember WAY back in the day I got a 17.3 up in LACR (palmdale) with my KA24E auto.. all I had was an exhaust and intake, nothing else. I had a full interior and LACR is high altitude.. so.. take it for what its worth.

You should get better than 17 seconds in a stock auto 240. I beated a modded 2000 civic ex modded with CAI, Header, exhaust and all i had was short ram which you lose power. This is with a 1997 240sx base auto which i still own and is very quick for an automatic compared to most cars.Im pretty sure if i got a CAI and exhaust on my car id hit low 16s for sure. Are you the first owner? Maybe the car wasnt kept in good condition thats probably why cause my 97 runs very good and i am the first owner.

I ran 16.9 Waaaaay back when I had the KA.
Injen intake and 2.25 exhaust. 140K miles
I still pulled 2.1's at LACR on open diff.

It sucks because 240's weren't meant for drag racing. Surely you didn't buy your 240 for 1/4 mile drags, did you? My Stang is built for drag racing, I didn't buy it for cleaning up at auto-x.

Hrm. I think my ka is running mid-16s, but it's manual; maybe you're not launching properly? PLEASE say you're not "shifting" your automatic transmission! That's a no-no! Brake torque-ing is your friend. Besides, get it to a 17.1 and run it every time, and you'll clean up in bracket racing!
My sr ran 14.6s at 95.2mph and 7lbs last Tuesday, but that's still too slow IMO. And the season ended last night for my sr20. See post: Someone hit my sr20!

Dont blame the wheels, i ran a 16.1 with like a 2.6 60ft, i definitely couldve gotten high 15s (filter, exhaust).
This was on 18 inch wheels, so dont give me that **** about them slowing you down

Back in the summer i ran 15.93 in the 1/4 with manual in my 93 fastback with no mods, so i thought that might give a guide what they can do without any mods, i haven't been back since and am trying to get back soon before the season ends.

I ran 17 seconds in the quarter at 85 miles an hour in the pouring rain, spun like ass through first and some of second, and I still say the 240's gearbox doesnt like to be rushed so I wasnt really ripping through the gears..Id love to see the effect on dry pavement. According to Motor Trend a 1993 240SX SE has a time of 16.3 seconds.

Hey NemeGuero you probably just can't drive. Not to be a d**k or anything. But had you ever been to the track b4? You can't expect your best times out of a car the first time you drive it. Drag racing or any racing for that matter has ALOT to do with the driver. Practice.;)

why is it a no-no? do you know how i used to drive my sohc auto? i shifted through the gears ALL the time, the original transmission lasted 13 years of use and abuse. it was the only way to make the car hit 6700rpms (vs stock 6000).. and i had much better control in the canyons.
im all for shifting it.. though, not like it'll make a difference in the track
besides, that auto is not designed for drag.. unless you build it up with a torque stall converter, etc...

Mike! It's not nice to your transmission to manually shift it if it isn't a manual!
Tsk tsk. Shame on you!
