Mr. Al,
Why do you always choose to have the events on weekdays? I would like to attend but I have school/work on most weekdays... :/
thx247

events on weekends are usually book well in advance, and are much more expensive.

Why not weekends?
The cost on wekeend is $2200.
On my insurance I can only have 12-15 People at the track.
So that would put each driver on $150 for a track day.
Not just that...
On Weekend we gotta have Track/suspervisor @350 per day.
Janitorial
[email protected]/weekend
Communication
[email protected]/day/each
10 or 20lb fire extinguisher @10/day
Grease
[email protected]/day
[email protected]/hourly
ALS
[email protected]/Hour
Fire
[email protected]/day
Tow
[email protected]/Day
PLUS the TRACK RENT. Weekend is set up differently. I have no idea why.
This is why I choose to have the weekday events. Maybe when I renew my insurance next year I can get a better rate for weekends.
So each driver would go about $400 each!
If you don't mind... Ill put one up for a weekend. What do you say?

Just wondering but how many wheels do people bring because that is one long ass little event you have going there? I would love to go but I don't think I'll have the funds for this until december. I still have to buy a helmet and an extra set of wheels.

:bash: Hey Al, can there be more than one driver per car, and is it $120 per car or per driver. And do you need to have a helmet or anything. I have no clue what is required at one of these. Let me know. I definately wanna take a day off work.
TRUENOCOUPE

Its $120 per driver.
ALL DRIVERS are required to race with a helmet on. You will not be able to race without a helmet. Motorcycle helmet is fine.

When I had my S13 I bought an AERO bumper front end, Hood, Fenders,Lights etc etc... BRAND NEW!
Im thinking of selling it. I only had my S13 for two weeks then sold it. So I have this front end at my house for nothing.
Make me an offer.

Theres another track event down in that area (at the Streets of Willow) on the 24th

No such thing as too much track-time, so I figure I'll make the most of those three days, and the 200+ mile drive to get down there.. I hope the car is up for it :o

unfortunately for those of us who drift, Streets of Willow wont allow it anymore..great track though..wish they'd open it up to drifting again...
that coupled with the 5 hr drive from Santa Cruz makes the 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 hr drive to Buttonwillow so much more appealing..
have fun though...:D

The AERO bumper won't fit on the Silvia front end from what I told.
The AERO front end that I have is all fiberglass, Even the hood and fender. The guy that sold it to me said that if you ever wreck the bumper you won't be able to replace it with any bumper since they don't fit. IONO. Would they?

problem with using fiberglass is that then you have to use fiberglass everything..if you use a uerethane bumper with FRP fenders then if you ever bump anything the shock is transfered directly to the fenders, via the bumper which is flexible, and they will break...
maybe that is what he meant...basically you have to use FRP with FRP...
anyway...bring the bumper to the event...i'd like to check it out...how much are you looking to get for it?..
thanks

The Nissan OEM Aero Bumper is urethane. I know it is cus I have it. :)
So I am guessing he meant you should use fiberglass everything cush ya, I'd assume that a bump would induce breakage to the other fiberglass parts and not the urethane...
Another reason not to get all that fiberglass junk. :)

That sux.....6 pucks suck tho so it doesn't surprise me.
With ur kind of funds, i'd go wit an OS giken or a HKS twin plate! There is a reason all of the HIGH quality clutches are sprung and not puck. Pucks wear out faster as well as raping your driveline severely! They are VERY hard on cars. you get my point.

Thanks to everyone that came out and participated also to people that stayed a little longer to clean up the track.
On the last event, people have improve thier skills. I was seeing more guys actually getting sideways on the track and not on the dirt. Their was a couple of drifters that went off coughnoahcough but other than that the event was ALLL GOODDDD. JK Noah.
Yes, I warned everyone when we went counter at the track that if you speed up really high on that exit turn, You will end up on the wall. whatdoyouknow... BANG! The supra. Its all good. Nothing too biggie, Atleast he got to drive the car home.
The caravan was a little crazy. Semi chasing us, shiet is pulling out of the back of the semi. Eating at Harris Ranch talking shiet to each other and being loud. Suburban towing a car going 90MPH... ahhh ilovemytruck.
Thanks again guys and save up for the next private event. Im shooting around November 26th or so.

Remember its the real deal out there, even though most of us are not going that fast.
AMERICAN STOCKCAR CHALLENGE (ASC) DRIVER INVOLVED IN FATAL INCIDENT.
Buttonwillow Raceway Park. Buttonwillow, CA. Saturday October 18th 2003. A tragic one-car accident during an American Stockcar Challenge (ASC) race took the life of series regular William "Billy" Blauvelt of Ringwood, NJ.
Early in the 30-minute timed event, Blauvelt apparently lost control of his race car and slid off course, impacting a dirt embankment. Witnesses reported that no other cars were nearby and that the incident took place at a relatively slow part of the 3.1 mile road course.
Rescue crews arrived within seconds and immediately extracted
Blauvelt. He was quickly airlifted by helicopter to Kern Medical
Center where he was pronounced dead soon after. Kern County Coroner Investigator Ken Noack listed the official cause of death as a "Closed Cranio Cervical Injury with a Basal Skull Fracture". A
preliminary inspection indicated that all the safety equipment functioned properly.
Blauvelt began racing in 2001 after over a decade of high performance driver's education with several other driving organizations. He was passionate about exotic cars and had owned quite a few, including a Ferrari, a Dodge Viper, an Acura NSX, a replica Shelby Cobra and several race prepared Porsches. He drove the #44 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for the RealRide Racing team and had recently finished on the podium at his last ASC race.
Blauvelt was 38 years old and is survived by his wife Adriana and 18 month old son Nikolas.
Contributions to Nikolas' education fund can be sent to:
Nikolas W. Blauvelt
PO Box 412
Ringwood, NJ 07456
the car hit a dirt embankment at the off ramp turn(formerly the buttonhook turn) on the passenger side. eye witnesses at the turn said the car came off the race surface side ways and hit the embankment on the side. other ASC racers said the entrance speed of this turn is about 80mph. carrying the car onto the top of the 4' embankment. so the car didn't hit and stop it scrubbed speed and momentum as it came to rest.

Wow, crazy shit. It doesn't seem like you could kill yourself by sliding off the off ramp but obviously you can. :(

10-25-2003, 06:15 PM
I was suprised their entry speed is the same as ours.
Although, they might be going clockwise, which in that case 80mph is really fast lol.

10-25-2003, 07:20 PM
DAMN...
From that turn, My speed is atleast 80MPH. Third gear redline.
My intent is to drift and not grip anyways so it'll slow me down a lot afterwards.

Made it back in one piece from the Redline event. Unfortuantely I can't say the same about my car.
I clipped a curb/rumble strip, which caused me to lock the inside wheel and understeered off at about 80mph. The runoff area was unobstructed but very bumpy, and I ended up getting a little air time before coming to a halt. Luckily I went off pretty much in a straight line otherwise it might have been another Buttonwillow. As of now, the car has underbody and suspension damage but still runs.
Thank again Halz for your help. I have to wait till I get back to the Bay Area before I can upload your pictures.

ken, I am Halz's brother. He is his own person.
The concern with running a track day in the rain (I also thought it was a good idea but Al set me straight) is twofold
Rain does suck (cold)
and anyone going off track runs a higher risk of rolling or damageing parts due to the dust turning to mud.
Skid pad in the rain would be very benificial. Track would be but at greater risk.
