So I bought a 89 240sx with a sr20 and a z32 maf. The guy that I bought this off of had done the worst wiring job I have ever seen but the car ran good. So I figured that since it ran good that the wiring just needed cleaned up. Car has xs power fmic with a Megan racing down pipe to a test pipe and a Borlaug exhaust. So when I brought the car home and let the car sit for a day I went out to start it and it kicked over then died, and the car will run if you idle it yourself then it will find itself and idle smoothly just needed warmed up. I drove it for two days and it ran good but smelled a little like gas. Changed the oil and then it started to have problems there after, and would miss and when I tried to drive it around the block it would get to 10 mph and start bucking horribly. So I changed the plugs and took that safc2 out and though it could be the maf. Had a buddy bring one over and figured out that it didn't change. So then I thought maybe it was the wiring and I bought a wiring specialties s13 sr20 harness plug and play. Put that in and hooked up the maf and then the car would start and just die, wouldn't rev or anything, so by this time I'm pissed and I unplug the maf and the car idles smooth...WTF? I recede it a couple times and it reved good and since the cluster wasn't changed I don't know what rpm it wad but the car wouldn't go past a certain point( maybe 3k) and it sounds like a two step, so I put a stock sr20 maf on there and nothing changed. So long story short my car only runs with maf unplugged and won't go above 3k

I'm having the same issue except I just hooked up my z32 maf, my wideband says 10 at idle loading up and goes to 3k and stalls. I have the junk apexi PFC in the car and I'm hoping that's the problem, keep me up to date If you find a solution as I will do the same thanks.

ok first off you need something to run a z32 maf computer wise. If you are using an safc and its setup help with that maf(not really sure if you can do that but its seems like it would) then you cant install a stock sr maf with that safc still plugged in and expect it to work.

Help me out if I am misunderstanding here...

Also there are many threads on this site about people complaining they cant rev over 3k rpm....have you tried searching for those?
