My power steering is leaking and Im trying to figure out which line to replace. I think I have it figured out, theres a small metal line with 2 metal fittings on the end. Its a smaller line from the junction box to the rack and pinion.
What is this line called exactly? Can I just go to an auto parts store or what? It looks like its the cheaper of the lines to replace, but a little pain in the ass to get to.

i think your talking about the hardline if it goes from the rack and pinion to the pump itself then its the hardline if it goes from the rack and pinion to the reservoir the its the return line there about $100 somthing new from an auto store. hope that helped p.s. watever line it is if you figure it out and buy it make sure you thread it in good cuz its very easy to strip!!!

you sure the hard line is leaking? most common place for leaks is the rubber high pressure line coming out of the pump.
Have a friend sit in the car while its running and have him steer to full lock and hold it a full lock for a few seconds, dont hold it there for very long though. While he holds it at full lock you visually inspect the hoses for a leak.
You should be able to visibly see a leak in the hi pressure line or hardline since there is normally 1000-1500psi in them at full lock.

Yea, its usually the hi pressure line that leaks. Get an isis stainless braided line or make your own.

My hard line at the back of rack was leaking. I had to buy it from dealer. It's only $4.

ok. so I found one of the fittings (a close enough match anyway at a parts store)
What about this one that goes into the rack and pinion. Does anyone have this or know where I can find one? See attached pic...

14mm x 1.5 is the thread pitch. You can find fittings at Summit, and that likely means the auto parts place can order them/will have them.

Part #45942 is still avaiable for $4.17 . Part 45941 is lo longer avaiable. 45942 is the furthest right one.
