Hello, I just recently bought a s14 and I am looking at getting a set of wheels for dd and drifting. I will be running a stock ka for a long time and figured that 17x9 won't work best. Would you guys suggest 15x7 or 16x7. I will probably run 205/50 or 205/45. Or should I go with 17x7. I would like to consider the cost of tires as well and 15s are cheapest. also what offset should i get to have the wheels flush.17s look best to me but I value performance over looks. Thanks

I would look into something a little less aggressive if you are going to be stock for a while..

If you really valued performance over looks, you wouldn't give a shit about being "flush".
15s look like dick on S14s. Just get some lightweight 17x9s (if that sort of thing is in your budget). 17" Federals are quite cheap if bought online.
Annnnd that's as much help as I feel like offering, as all of this info is easily found with a quick search.

Being flush is also good for performance too with the wide stance. I can't have it wider because of the laws in Denver, CO. If I go 17x9 I will probably go with rpf1's but I will take a look at the Federal as well thanks for suggestion.

15x7 is even smaller than factory s14 wheels haha. Check the fitment thread.
Nothing less than 17x8 will look even respectable.
Plus, if your not lowered, don't bother with wheels.

oh boyy that's going to be interesting. if you dd and drift, you'll probably end up buying tires every month.
I will be running a stock ka for a long time
sooo...stick with stock wheels or whatever you got.
and figured that 17x9 won't work best.
why not? 17x9 +12 is a good starting point if you want 'flush'. did you just come from the honda scene where most civics run 15-16s?
Would you guys suggest 15x7 or 16x7.
Definitely run 15x7. :hide: (even though stock S14 SE, has 16x6.5 +45 and that's already sunk as hell)
I will probably run 205/50 or 205/45. Or should I go with 17x7. I would like to consider the cost of tires as well and 15s are cheapest.
17x7 is way too large, definitely stick with 15x7. :hide:
also what offset should i get to have the wheels flush.
+50 :hide: (my attempt at being nice: 15s and 16s won't get you 'flush' without being stupid low and that will probably mess up your car more than help it. minimum 17s, 18s recommended for s14. check the fitment whore thread. http://zilvia.net/f/chat/129865-wheel-fitment-whore-thread-stretch-flush-no-specs-no-post.html)
17s look best to me but I value performance over looks.
even my girlfriend knows that those sizes you are wondering about are shit sized wheels. that is all.
Thanks for making my Sunday entertaining.

I do know that you guys favor the 17 and 18 wheel, and I didn't think 17x9 would work because I'm running a stock ka, so I was asking if my motor could spin those. So that is why I mentioned 15 or 16. My stock wheels have my snow tires on them so I won't be using them and the are 15s. I have the base model not SE. I did do a search on best wheel size for drifting but never really got my answer. Thanks for replies.

you are aware wheels arent made of cast iron or cinder blocks right?, there is no reason u cant run a 17x9 on a stock KA

sounds good, that is what i need to know. time to get 5 lugs, and can i drift on 255/40 tires?

You're gonna have a pretty tough time spinning 255s with a stock KA. Since you'll be drifting, go with a 215 or a 225 tire. Cheap and much easier to spin.

If your going for performance and a good rubber to the ground/lightweight for the track id just get 17x9 or 9.5 et 15 enkei rpf-01's since there stupid light and verry affordable and easy to find!
if you cant afford rpf's you could also look into 5zigen fn's or mb battles :)

Not to be a dig but do you not understand simple tire wheel sizing?
-Stock SE wheel would be like 205/55/16
-Say you buy a 17x9j or something like that it would be 205/45/17 (just saying a common size)
Your overall height is actually a little shorter and you contact patch is pretty much the same as before, thus making absolutely no difference on how much you can spin the tire..
If you want an honest opinion just get some old tires or some junkyard wheels with tires already mounted and go learn to slide on those, then move up.. You should be worrying about a decent suspension setup and differential first if you haven't already done that.
