I have a sr20 with a gt2860rs turbo and for some reason it seems to be pretty laggy. It has a tubular manifold (Megan or something cheap) and some people have been telling me that the manifold could be the problem and that I should put the stock exhaust manifold on it. Also, at times the turbo kinda feels like it surges or something in boost. On a previous car I had a 2871r and it felt like it spooled around the same or maybe even a little quicker than this one, so I really have no idea. The tubo has been checked out and there is no shaft play or anything like that.
Any help will be appreciated.
thanks

Personally I don't think it would be the headers because you get better flow/faster spool. Do you have a custom piped intercooler, cuz that may be the problem.

It just some cheap xs power fmic kit. I have been told the stock mani spools the turbo much quicker, I dont care about loosing a little hp.

Yeah I would suggest that you cut it down as much as you can less pipe means better spool time and if your not running a bov it might be vacuming witch would also cause lag, and if you are running stock cams I would suggest an upgrade

Anyone else know how the stock manifold will effect it?

all my peeps run a tubular on the t28
check for in and out shaft play
this may cause it to slow down
if not check over everything
do u have adjustable fpr?
u may b running lean during spool up
or to rich..depending on situation
i kno my t25 will pool up faster w fpr on stock psi and slower on like 45-50psi fuel pressure but it has shaft play

Yea I have had other sr20's with t28's and they just did not feel this way. Im wanting to get a stock manifold, but im not positive if it will even make a noticeable difference. Hopefully I can get a mid-mount intercooler setup in the next few months.
