Hi there guys. Well its time to let go of my baby. This is my first car and I may regret this in the future but its time to move on. I’ve owned this car for 2 years and have put about 10k on it driving around town and commuting to highschool. In that time it has never left me stranded. It has the ca20 with a 5 speed manual transmission. The car has a clean title with 257k on the odometer. I bought if off of a guy from the UK who was here on a visa and had to go back to his home country. When we bought it, there was a leak on the intake manifold gasket and it was repaired by our friend. However, when he pulled the intake manifold he had to break the tube that holds the egr on so there is no egr and the pipe is welded shut. However, it fixed the problem and does not idle rough anymore.
Now time for the bad. The interior is in pretty rough shape but is all there minus the carpet. Dash is really beat up from being out in the sun (how I bought it). The heater core leaks so we just bypassed it. Power steering rack leaks pretty bad (big surprise! Haha) And just as of last month the car starts to sputter really bad after driving about 20mins or so. I was told it may be a fuel pump or injector. Also the tags expired a few days ago on 3/20 and it needs to be smogged at a test only center. The exhaust also has a few holes in it from rust. The hood latch is also broken so I’ve been using zip ties. The rear view mirror fell off (but I think you could glue that back on), and you’ll need the passenger side mirror also. Also the key only works on the drivers side.
Now for the pros. I am only selling this car for $600obo! The body is straight and the paint is actually in decent shape. All electronics such as headlights and taillights work. Just replaced all 8 spark plugs with NGK ones, distributor cap, and rotor (haven’t even driven 20 miles since….we did this cuz we originally thought it was a problem with the spark and not fuel).
I have purchased a more reliable daily because I’m going to college now and its about a 30min commute and not just down the street like in highschool. That’s the only reason I did not smog it or pay the fees ($89 owed). Anyhow u can feel free to come drive it. It runs great until after about 20mins when it starts sputtering. I went to the junk yard today and we got them to offer us $475 for the car but I really don’t want to see this car torn apart especially since it runs. I know this car is pretty banged up but would make a great daily for a student who doesn’t have a far commute. I’ve listed everything I know about the car and will do my best to answer any questions. Buyer is responsible for smog and all fees. Thanks for your time.
