Those innovate products wont let you down! I have the wideband and turbotimer in one unit and its awesome.

How much was that FMIC?

My whole setup as of now is t28 rb25 turbo, fmic, sr20 370cc injectors, walbro fuel pump, and if it ever gets here apexi neo to tune adjust my a/f. My goal for now is 220-230 whp till i can build the bottom end.

That sucks bro! pm me if you want one of those for your gauges my boy makes them and the fit like a glove. he can make it with a center vent like mine or for 3 gauges w no vent

Damn thats pretty fucken cheap! i might just get one. :) Im local to their shop so maybe no shipping for me? haha ill call them.

Also you might have a problem with the turbo elbow clearing your steering shaft. I saw pics on here somewhere that elbow was up against the steering link. heat and a hammer should fix it!

Keep us updated this looks promising!

what kind of manifold is that..i was thinkin of using a t25 turbo from an rb20 since my frend has it laying around

c_mancuyas8
03-23-2011, 01:48 AM
gotta love hammer diy's! kinda like my fav baseball bat fender roll true story lmao! my biggest issue so far is running the water lines but i have a couple theorys to try out. this weekend is supposed to be the moment of truth so we'll see! :x:

Matt, do you know what kinda numbers your making on your setup?

Its a cheap one off ebay (dna motorsports) lol i had to buy adapter for it bc it said it was for t3 flange but has t25  im not sure about the rb20's but the rb25's have t3 flange. Overall its decent for the price though.

c_mancuyas8

You should consider just using an SR T28 and other T2 based turbos. The turbo and turbo elbow will not fit right without modification to the manifold and turbo elbow. Although, I'm interested on the outcome should you stick with your current setup. GL!

c_mancuyas8
03-23-2011, 06:24 PM
^ Thanks man. I wanted the sr t28 but for lack of funding i went with the rb. Yeah i can already tell that im goin to have some fun fitting every thing correctly. Im definately goin to have to clock the turbo bc oil feed is on the side and not the top :smash: and ordered some reducers yesterday bc of how the hot pipe runs to the elbow. Its definately not been a weekend project hahaha. I just hope its ready for IA atl :x:

c_mancuyas8
06-15-2011, 12:38 PM
haha I hear ya man. Im the same shit is all over the place right now. Markland are u using rb t28? I was going to use that but ended up using a sr t25. I have bottom mount setup the elbow and downpipe I have are both from cx racing its decent stuff definately not the best but it all fits very well.

c_mancuyas8
06-23-2011, 09:34 AM

c_mancuyas8
07-19-2011, 06:38 PM
just a litttle update I got the new turbo in (with a restrictor this time) and everything is running great all except the exhaust b/c it broke already lol. going to do some cutting and welding to get it a little higher. Right now its in half making pretty sparks everywhere I go:ugh:

Mitsubayati

last question haha. What did you do about the PCV system?

btw whatd you end up doing with this ^ I found a hella informative thread about it

I haven't done it yet sir. There's a drift series I'm in for beginners here, and I don't need power yet, plus I can't build a reliable car when I'm in school full time senior year working on my senior design project for the Formula SAE Hybrid competition.

So, when winter comes around and I have a break, I'll probably pull the motor, take off the intake manifold and replace the upper portion with an s14 one deleting the butterfly valves and the PCV tree. Then I'll probably run a one-way check valve from the pcv box on the front cover into the intake manifold. That's if I have enough time, otherwise I'll just block it off. I swear man, there is no thread with a full how-to on a ka-t build. There's just a bunch of general garbage. If I have time, I may also write a how-to. I've PMed some people about this and just gathered knowledge from a few places. I want my motor and ka-t setup to run reliably so when Pro-am comes around my car won't be down. I only get paid by my sponsor when I appear lol

I wish that you lived in California because I'd be so down to help so that I could learn.

Sounds like a fun project man! In my research I've found a lot of useful threads that I take pieces out of to get the job done. But in my experience so far ill definitely say that doing it nyself is where I learned the most. I keep a binder full of receipt and how to I've found online. If you have any questions ill b more than happy to help. Have you created a acct on ka-t.org? There's tons of info and knowledgeable guys on there! And I'd just love to b in Cali lol you guys have everything there

I dislike ka-t.org. I'm not a noob or anything I just feel it's unorganized and it contains the general garbage I was referring to earlier lol.

And thanks dude. I shall be hitting you up with questions. The main part that sucks is my parents hate everything drifting oriented is it just makes my life that much harder. Even though I'm sponsored they still don't care lol.

Don't just block off the pcv run it to a catch can and plug the intake runners. Either vent to atmosphere or route back to intake post maf and preturbo. Based on my experience with the pcv it wont really make a difference the pcv is constantly pushing air out

Mitsubayati
10-12-2011, 01:37 PM
So you're saying run a line from the pcv box to a catch and then to the intake between the maf and turbo? Would you just delete the pcv box or just run a line out of it?

mancuya, I PMed you back

waxball88
10-12-2011, 02:10 PM
Run a 3/8 line off the PCV. It is already a one way valve. Here is how mine is ran.
Excuse my dirty bay
http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u116/waxball88/photobucket-4608-1317456232143.jpg

The black hose off the catch can that is bolted to the front of the block goes down to the PCV valve.
Then i also have the VC breather vented to the same catch can.
Currently vented to atmosphere

I honestly believe the PCV works as it should when it has a vacuum source PULLING any blow-by gasses out.

Mitsubayati pm'd me not to long ago asking me about my PCV set up and I delete the PCV tree on my s14 upper manifold, run a line through a one way check valve to a vacuum fitting on lower manifold, tee into the PCV box and run another line to the pre turbo piping.

This way when your idling/ cruising you will be PULLING any blow-by out of the crank case WITH VACUUM, and under boost the check valve closes and blow-by is pulled through the pre turbo piping.

That seems like way more work then necessary. I can tell you that the PCV blows a good volume of air out at idle, enough so i would not worry about any vapor being left in the crankcase.
Why run two separate lines when one to the intake would do the same thing?
Good news for me, i've gotten 0 blow-by/oil in my catch can, my rings must have seated nicely.

c_mancuyas8
10-12-2011, 08:25 PM
waxball thats pretty much what Im doing. Heres the link and a pic of exactly what I did minus letting pcv dump to atmosohere

http://www.ka24development.com/file_images/temp/KA-intake-manifold-PCV-removal-finished.jpg

www.ka-t.org :: View topic - HOW TO: *Properly* disconnect your PCV ... (http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=27437&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)

On page 2 you can see what Im doing. Basically same as Matt just a little simpler at least to me lol. All Im doing is running hose from pcv to a T from head into catchcan and from can to intake pre turbo and after maf

waxball88
10-12-2011, 09:09 PM
Yes that is exactly what i did. Had the runners threaded and put plugs. I intend eventually to run a -10AN line across from where the filter is on my catch can to the intake pipe.

But for now, it works just fine. Like i said, its not completely necessary to have it ran to the intake.

You can do it the check-valve way, but like you said its more work and more chances to have a vacuum leak. And more shit under the intake, which will get in the way if you're trying to run your harness under it.

I like this, a fellow KA-T guy. Hopefully you stick with it and don't go SR. we could use more of you. Do me a favor? Take some good angle shots of your engine bay, I want to see what it looks like right now.

c_mancuyas8
10-12-2011, 09:40 PM
haha no sr for me! SO USDM YO!!!! lol anti tyler who are you talking to ^ me or waxball bc my bay is engineless. But before I pulled engine the engine looked the same as it did on page 2. When it goes back in itll look much different. Emissions removed no cluth fan new rad and slim fans dunno where im relocating the oil filter and putting the catch can yet :goyou:

waxball88
10-12-2011, 09:56 PM
I have some rad fans i need to install. Gotta read up on how to wire them up, i don't really wanna run a switch. I want to run a relay.

c_mancuyas8

Im hoping that itll all be back in this weekend! My mounts just came in so it DO WORK time lol. My buddy tied the fans into a fuse in the bay so when the engine turns on they turn on, engine off they go off. After I figure it out ill put up some pics.

waxball- what top mount setup are you using? Tune? numbers? :)

CXracing top mount (i've had it for close to 2 years now it was like the first version they put out)
Enthalpy tune (Currently having issues with it running the car, i have a new one from martin i need to throw in)
No numbers yet.
I've been running around on the stock ecu with z32 maf and sti 550cc injectors. Retarded my timing at the dizzy, 8 psi. STUPID rich/not that fast, and i'm not beating on it or driving it daily for that matter (not that i couldn't)

When my car was running on the initial enthalpy tune it was pretty fucking quick.

what happened with tune n how long it last b4 it went crazy? They charge you for retune? Im wanting to do a top mount after I get mine all back together and running again lol did you have any fitment issues with their mani? or was it the whole kit mani turbo downpipe etc.. are you still on stock internals?

Just wondering since he was asking about the egr info. Just want to clarify this, Did you take out the butterfly plates on the intake manifold?

Me personally no not yet I left that valve on there unplugged to leave them open all the time, at least for now. Im gonna look for a way to take them out this weekend as Im putting everything back in

idk how it is for the dohc but for the sohc theres a little actuater on the side take that off a little phillips screw in the middle and it just slides out. but you gotta find a small plug or weld it from where it comes out so air doesnt leak out there

^ This is one reason why Ive not taken mine out yet :) you wont be able to see it so im debating just leaving it in there

no take it out. even though its small and thin its still flow restriction. one thing ive learned with builds and other stuff is dont cut corners or under look any thing. only 10 minutes of work that will pay off in the end

talking of the plates inside mani? or the valve?

It was towards you, I don't like reading these as much as I like looking at the pictures. Reminds me of when I built mine, which also reminds me I'm almost due for a new re-build. 18,000 miles. It's getting about that time.

I don't know what I did fancy, But I guess it surprises people the amount of hp my ka puts out @ only 5lbs.

I look forward to seeing yours when you finish that beast.

Thanks man! I saw some pics of your car looks good! hopefully Ill have new pics this weekend!

Yeah you are putting down graet numbers for 5lbs lol! We have alot of the same things besides the turbo and injectors but im not far behind you!

I'd prefer not to discuss my issues with Enthalpy til it is resolved as we are unsure if it is a wiring issue/something on my end or what the deal is yet. But i can say the support Martin puts behind his product is INCREDIBLE, he is ALWAYS willing to help and has really earned my business despite the issues.

It is a whole cxracing kit. I clocked the turbo down and hacked the intercooler pipes to fit (otherwise it is a cluster fuck trying to run an intake)
I can't really speak for the kit as fitment really depends on who was welding that day at the china shop. My manifold fitment is spot on, i even had enough room for a heat shield on my master cylinder. Exhaust/dp and everything fit with minor modifications (bend ac line out of the way)
I also used my own hardware.

I'm on a built engine 8.6:1 compression 20 over.
Felpro head gasket
Rebuilt head

^ Thanks

Waxball- Sounds to me like theyre are pretty good at standing behind their product and thats respectable of you to not discuss that yet. But, if you dont care after the issue is solved please let me know how it worked out for you and good luck! Sounds like youve got a solid build!!

I think I will be emulating Waxball's setup. I'm going to have a guy modify my intake manifold for me:

-delete pcv tree and run pcv box to atmosphere or to resonator chamber hole in the intake pipe. (while NA)
-remove butterfly valves and weld openings made by it to atmosphere shut
-remove unnecessary vacuum hard lines that run along intake manifold

I'm looking to put the turbo setup on during winter break, but I may just be interested in doing it before then haha. I'm having this guy install the manifold and oil pan as well, because I can at my house anymore haha.

keep it up on the ka.....my ka journey is hella rough, but imma stick it out........0 oil press after a new oil pump, replaced oil pump to have a bad first start.....gave it gas to keep it alive.....ended up losing all compression in 3 cyl......down to 30psi in #4.......

KA>SR though...ill be back

Damn man!! That blows! Rebuild with forged :)

I actually used a t25 instead. I had bought an adapter but it sat to low and the exhaust wouldve been a pain in the ass but it couldve with some patience
I just ran out of it lol

better go down to costco, get their value pack of 15 headgaskets.

hahahaha oh yeah? how come?

10-17-2011, 10:54 PM
Chris, I'm pretty sure he said that because you didn't make mention of the head being redecked. I think regardless of whether the headgasket blew or not, every time you remove the head, it should be decked or at least checked for levelness (spelling).

What happened to the front cover/oil pump?

c_mancuyas8
10-17-2011, 11:19 PM
haha yeah I know. Somehow that piece that comes down that has a bolt in the bottom ( I believe its the oil pressure valve?) Broke off :/ I think it was cracked already or just weak and when I was trying to change the oil pan a few weeks ago I broke it. But it is all fixed now. Im really hoping that Ill have enough time next weekend to finish it all up and have pics of it actually in the car running doin burnouts and backflips. lol jk gotta break clutch in first

The new ecu enthalpy sent me works and works great. Car rips on 8psi. I'm fighting for traction (need better tires) and to put my lsd in.

kick ass man! Thats what i was gonna get next till all these activities needed to be done haha. I dont get shit for traction now lol. What lsd you have?
