I been searching all over can't get an answer.
When u disconnect tps idle is regulated by ecu. But how? Does it mess with the iacv to keep the idle down or what?
Asking cuz my idle goes up pretty high when I disconnect my tps. N my shits not running right
Thanks.

more info would be nice. what are the symptoms of the engine?
i dont think tps has anythign to do with idle but let the car warm up and idle then unplug TPS and then adjust your idle screw by tighting it.

My idle bounces from 1500 to 2000 my boost gauge goes from 5hg to 0hg when that happens. I checked for leaks with boost leak tester n I'm good on that. Even when warm I unplug tps n idle spikes. It went to 7000 n I shut it off. It acts like I got a big vac leak but like I said did boost leak test n nothing It looses 10 psi in about a min N a half.

are all your vac lines hooked up correctly?!
how about starting the car without the Tps plugged in. then adjust idle via screw. turn off car and then turn it backon.

Can't do that the engine will blue cuz rpm just goes up won't stop

That shouldn't be the case. Sounds faulty.

Yea that's what I'm trying to figure out what's faulty

Maybe your tps is faulty. Try testing it out with an omh/volt meter.
Try changing out your ecu with a known good one.
Your iavc could be f-ked.
Did you wire your harness yourslef or did u get it done professionally?

Pro harness. Tps wouldn't affect it if it's disconnected. But I tested tps n it's good. Iacv maybe. I took it out n cleaned it all put it back on no difference. Screw all the way in and tried pinching hose on iacv. Nothing happens still bounces around 1500 to 2000. Tried swapping ecu with know good one sane thing happens.

could be your IAVC. switch that one out with a known good one.
edit:
try also switching out your TB
is there some slack on your throttle cable? your TB could not be closed completely.

yeah I don't see how it could rev up THAT high without the throttle plate opened. If your IACV doesn't have a coolant flow it will surge and won't idle.
the TPS only tells the ECU when the car is "idling" which means closed throttle. Otherwise the car continues to feed fuel on decel. Ask me how I know?

Lol I figured it out. The throttle was open quite a bit. I got the swap from this idiot on zilvia that didn't know what he was doing. I had to move the throttle screw down line 1/2". It's idling great now and when I disconnect tps it does what it supposed too. Thanks for the help!

I've been having a pretty similar problem, but my throttle plate is visually closed when the engine is off. I'm going to fuck with that screw before bucking down and replacing the iacv and the tps.
The voltage for my tps is still all over the fucking place so it may be the culprit but I don't see how my throttle plate just randomly decided that it wanted to idle the car at 1500 when it idled at 800 before when the car was running in open loop lol

The guy that was helping me was saying if u clamp the iacv hose it should change the idle if no iacv isn't working. But if the tps isn't moving and the tos voltage is moving around then more likely it's a tps.

I'll try clamping the hose, if I unplug the iacv the idle drops to 800 if the adjustment screw is all the way down and properly adjusts itself if I loosen it. soon as I plug it back in all hell breaks loose.

I also am having a TPS related problem....redtop
I checked the voltage to the plug and it was right at 5v - good
I can adjust the sensor to see .45v throttle closed and about 4v open - good
I checked the resistance per the s14 fsm and its way off...10.3 ohms closed 2.3 ohms open..
s14 fsm says 0.7 ohms closed 5 ohms open
So Sensor is Bad?
What made me check it? Finally got it up and running but my idle was fixed at 1K steady and wouldnt move regardless of tps plugged or unplugged. the IACV screw was all the way in and idle would go up if I unscrewed it, but I found out my IACV was wired wrong at the connector (my fault) and wasnt getting 12V. Now thats fixed but I dunno about the TPS sensor. brand new engine harness so all pin to pin continuity checks are all good and now everything has correct voltage etc.
So new TPS needed?
