I started heaing a loud rattle noise comming from the motor, when i listen closely i sounds its coming from the front of the engine under the valve cover.
It is louder when the car is at low rpms and when the car is cold; once it warms up i can still hear it but not that much.
I think is the timing chain, but I am not sure or what is causing this.
The motor was rebuilt like 60-70k ago.
Anyone know anything about what this could be?
Thanks in advance.

Look at the simple stuff first. Back when I had my sohc, I had a similar problem and all it was is that my exhaust manifold had some loose bolts that were rattling. It sounded like it was comming from the valve cover also. Never know, it could a simple fix like mine lol.

Sounds like you have an issue similar to mine that I posted earlier this morning.

Let me know if you figure it out and I'll do the same for you. Perhaps it is the same issue.

Most likely your guides have taken a poop on you! Be smart and change out everything chain guides and upper and lower sprockets. Oh yeah and make sure when you put the cover back on that it goes on with the outer lip of the oil thrower facing the cover NOT the engine as the spindle that turns the timing rod will chew it the F up! Good luck if you search there are some tech articles on how to change it.I f you have any questions PM me ;)
