I have an auto 95 S14 stock KA aside from intake and exhaust, when I bought it there were some electric problems, but mostly mechanical problems that I've been fixing while I drive, however Yesterday during a cruise everything seemed to go wrong. I tried to make this as detailed as possible because wiring sucks and the more you know about the problem the easier it is to fix, so here goes.

Earlier in the day the temp gauge pegged past hot, pulled away from gas station to take it home an almost instantly it dropped to normal range, my friend in the car with me said the same thing happened with two of his KA's and that it wasn't much to worry about, he had fixed it before, no big deal, fine to drive on, so like an idiot, I did.
Later:
Turned on headlights then in order this occurred:
-Dash went out
-All gauges went all over
-Trans downshifted
-Radio died
Then I turned off the lights and after a few seconds (about 5-7) the trans shifted up then this happened in order:
-Radio came back continued to play music
-Gauge cluster came back sort of
-- Temp gauge pegged above hot
-- Tach was out, needle dropped not reading anything
-- Speedo jumped to 100 km/h (seemed right, but 100% sure if actual speed)
-- Fuel gauge back normal
Shortly after the temp gauge went back to normal and I tried turning on the lights again and same happened as the first time I turned them on, once back to normal I had to brake because of traffic, not diagnosis, however the moment there was any pressure on the brake pedal the same happened as when I turned on the lights the first time, aside from the tach, which stayed dead through all of this. Turn signals and hazard light switch did not affect anything adversely, did not check if turning overdrive off would do anything because I was afraid of the trans downshifting too many times and blowing itself up. Thats where I'm at, any input is appreciated.

Wire harness rub through? Is your car lowered or different tires up front

also your up north and you might have condensacion forming on the driver side kick panel , this humidity/water is causing shorts temperary,
its a pain in the butt to find something like that
first start with the tire rub up front especialy if you droped the car on its nuts, its easier to take the front drivers side fender to repair the wires, then after you do that if you ever have the problem look for shorts behind the driver kick panel

The car is low, but not too low, my profile pic shows the height its still at, its possible that wires got rubbed through but the previous owner messed with the wiring so much that ive been concentrating on the already exposed wires and wires leading to nowhere. Some people. Haven't found a ground thats fixed it yet. Gonna keep checking grounds and gonna look for wear through wires.
