DriftShowoff was held yesterday. Kazama and Kumakubo were here, which was really neat. I met Kazama last year at Ebisu... really nice guy. They brought the Kei Office S15 and Kumakubos truck. The event turnout was kinda low. Mostly due to the fact that A) it was $80 for no track time, B) the people who put it on are not very well liked by the guys here, and C) um...yah..no track time for the $$. I decided not to enter for both of those reasons, but wanted to take pictures and watch our guys run against Kazama and Kumakubo, and Ernie Fixmer who came down from Cali.

The event seemed very disorganized with WAY to much down time, which was expected I guess. Kinda junk though because DriftShowoff said that durning down times they would let people run all the wanted...no deals.

The event started off kinda junk because they way they set up the course, NO ONE could get any speed before they had to start drifting. So for the first rounds of practice, everyone seemed off par. They finally moved the start back a good amount and everyone started getting nuts. The level here is so high now that some of our tops guys seem like they came strait from Japan (which some of them do haha). I was sad that Justin and Berry both broke their clutches, I expected them to place really high.

Ernie drove a S13 lent to him by SteveO. Guess he wasnt used to our track or the car though because he failed to make top 8, which seemed kinda weird. I think he would have done much better with more practice time. Cool that he came out though. Alex Phifer and Moto P (i think) were here too.

ok, my writing really sucks right now since im blown out from school. So Ill just post who made top 8 and who won.

top 8:
Braden (SR S14)
Forest (SR S13)
Pedro (SR S13)
Earl (SR S13)
Ross (SR S13)
Stan (86 coupe)
Royce (86 hatch)
Kyle (CIVIC!!! Dont laugh. He would kick your ass, I promise. Even Kazama and Kumakubo were very impressed with him. Ever seen that Option video with the little black Kcars drifting around the track? Yah...thats what kyle looks like)

Finals:
4th Royce of Velocity Hawaii and Juo Ni
3rd Forest of Kaizo Speed Gear and Juo Ni
2nd Stan of Velocity Hawaii and Juo Ni (again! he is always freaking 2nd!)
1st Ross of Murder and Juo Ni

I dont know about Ross (since i left early), but Stan got to run with Kazama and Kumakubo at the end. Let me tell you what, Stan is on a different level! He has a bone stock motored 86 (all suspension and LSD) and he could hang with them like it was no big thing. Stan is my hero! hahaha...

I am so happy that the top guys here are getting so good. Maybe it will attract some big names down here to come run with us more often.. any way, less talking more pictures

hahaha
rad dood, thanks for the writeup. you hawaiian guys i give big props to. do so great from the vids ive seen and all in all super nice guys. too bad ernie didnt do that well, but its hard in someone else's car and a new track. im sure if he had sam'syellow s13 it might have been better, but nonetheless a great expirience im sure. sounds like a great event
yes driftshowoff..blah

kazama is always pulling up his pants because he SO SKINNY. he's like a bone w/ a sliver of meat haha..serious. he was at d1 usa and when he was repairing/replacing his rear suspension he was crouched down, his legs were the size of toothpicks i kid you not! hahaha

anyways. sweet. nice pics. wow Kazamas car is really badass!

congrats to the participants and top placers! :)

i like Forest's car a lot
Royce's paint job is PIMP! LOVE IT!!

thanks! :)

as far as the civic placing well
GOOD its nice to see it because i know EXACTLY what you are talkign about..those older options you can see the civic drifting and those guys are NUTS. FF drift when they do better or just as good as FR drifters is great. its very fast and very balls out. i love it! more proof to the 'so called drifters' who rag on FF drifting. its really great to see. HUGE thumbs up! :)

1) The words APC and DRIFT should never be used together.

2) Watching FWD cars drift is like watching someone run while doing a handstand -- its possible but who cares, really?

Nice pics. The east coast locals are also getting great at the englishtown's DG Trials drift events. US is gonna have some insane drifters in like a year or two.

But any way whats those latches on the back of this car?? Is it like hood latches for the trunk?? I've never seen em before
http://members.stanzadriven.com/matt/showoff14.jpg

AceInHole

yeah.... looks like the trunk is held on with hood pins. maybe they got rid of the trunk hinges for weight savings?

yah... APC and drift is a strange combo... o well thouh, its already done.

I like watching Kyle because he has to come into the turn at such an insane speed vs. everyone with a RWD car and power. Its also VERY weird to see a Civic look like its doing choku doris up the strait... I would have never thought it possible till I saw it....

Im not sure what Braden has those latches for, ill ask him next time. I know he cut out his rear deck lid to install his custom cage, so that might have somthing to do with it.

The reason why he's using latches is because the trunk is carbonfiber. I believe it was custom made. Unfortunatley it sustained some damage during this past event.

808Supra - great write up and cool pic.

Also.... FRP. They make EVERYTHIGN in FRP, getting it is the hard part.

Hey 808 nice pics. yeha you Oahu guys are so bling with your track and your new paintjobs and shit. The nicest cars on Maui have duct tape, zip ties, hanging sideskirts, offcenter steering wheels... stuff like that.

Anyway, I am coming home from the mainland for XMas and stuffs. Im going to split the time between Oahu (Mom's) and Maui (Dad's) so ANY of you Oahu guys that want to... ship your cars to Maui. Mike and Dave are going to be filming some Maui touge and industrial stuff with me, Keeks, and a few other guys. The more the merrier. And Tantlus is weaksauce compared to Haleakala. But seriously, you guys are welcome to crash at mine or any of my friends place. And if you can't ship your cars over, well... try! Hahaha. its only like $100 round trip on Young Brothers last time i checked. Im still trying to come over for a D.S. One day....

dorifto: Yah i was talking to Mike and he said somthing about Maui. I thought he already did pics of your car? haha..

I know that in March abunch of us Juo Ni/Drift Session guys are going to ship our cars over to Maui to run against you guys in some kinda compatition. I can't wait to come run on a new track against new guys! I also heard lots of good things about the haleakala road! March is to far away...

If you come over to Oahu any time soon, We are starting to have 3 events a month, so im sure you will be here for one of them :)

Yeah, I can make something better.. oh wait, I DO make things better. Ah man, its not like it takes much effort to make things better than APC.. even TYC, which is second in line in selling bargain basement lighting components, makes better products than APC.

He makes high end HID kits and custom LED tail lights for sports cars. They don't make crapptastic Altezza tail lights for Hondas or any car. If you don't think his product is a higher quality then APC's then your blind :loco:

Ah man, I cant beleive you fell for that one. ;)
Wow, a picture of your car side-ways, I guess you are a true "DRIFT-R" -- impressive! I guess you proved me wrong, I am sorry. [sarcasm]

Listen, I am not the kind of guy who talks shiet because you CAN or CANNOT slide your car, I dont care about that.. I am not on these forums to brag and boast, I've been around too long for that. What I am against, is:

1) Praising OR even ACCEPTING support, sponsorship, or any type of advertisement from facking LAME ASS sell-your-soul-to-the-devil, companies.. ah yes, A-P-C.

2) Labels like "I am a drifter" -- who cares? I mean I understand drifting has its own little culture, and you can take funny pictures next to your car and all that great stuff. To me, drifting is just a DRIVING STYLE. You dont hear me saying "I am a gripper" because my car STICKS to the road, do you? Hmm... maybe I'll start something new!

As for APC, come on now.. you KNOW its bad when even the BBB lists them as "unsatisfactory" -- even Fry's Electronics has a better rep than them! Christ.

http://www.labbb.org/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=wsbroker1/C%3A/Inetpub/wwwroot/SouthlandReport/default.htm?hCompID=13185495&hAKAID=1&hAddrID=1

To me, the "drift culture" has always been a PURE sport. Why? Because its usually been appreciated and/or understood by very few people. Its a form of driving that is more artistic, and learning how to do it SKILLFULLY is a talent that takes a great deal amount of time to master. It is not something you can just pickup and learn, it requires a great deal of time behind the wheel PLUS an understanding of vehicle dynamics, balancing, AND the technical aspect of how cars operate.

So if you wonder why most of the time I am pissed off, its because I constantly see people who'de rather BUY products than FABRICATE them. I hate seeing stupid companies like APC attempting to BUY their way into a sport, because its the "new trend." I guess APC wants to feel like they are at the forefront of automotive technology. I guess trendy "bandwagon bastards" want to feel like they are up-to-date with their issue of Super Sport Compact Street.. so they pickup a set of HKS products and call themselves "drifters."

ps: I never once claimed to be a "drift-r" .. all I did was say that *I* personally hate seeing FWD cars slide, drift, whatever you want to call it.. I think its crap. FWD cars should put some wider or stickier tires in the back and quit pretending to be RWD. Now if someone has the SKILLS to slide a FWD, fine.. fine.. its the track, you are more than welcome to do whatever you want I guess.. but still, I think its lame -- MY OPINION.

he had a red S13 w/ SR swap that he did him self when he was like 17, then he painted it yellow. Then he got an SR S14 after that. Then he got the drag turbo Integra. Now he has the Integra and the 240 you see here... and hes only like 22 or somthing.
