Sexy wheels for under $1,500

Hey peeps,

I've started looking into upgrading from my XXR 521's (18x10) to something... not knock-off statis and more light weight. I was just wondering on the opinions that you all had on some sexy wheels under $1,500 (preferably around $1000 but whatever). I prefer something with a bit of a lip and MUST have decent offset options also. I like the Work Emotion XD9's, Work Meister's, Gram Lights 57D's, etc. so anything that has that kind of style I'm sure I'd be into. I'm also looking to get 18x10 for rear and 18x9 for front. Let me know what you all think.
P.S. I have a cobalt green S14 Kouki with Stance GR+ coilovers and JDM body, so keep that in mind.

I like the enkei's also. They are nice and lightweight, really clean looking, and reasonably priced. I also like the Meister's.

Have a look at the newest XXRs. 527s and 526s. Just a new option to put out there.

But Varrstoen TE37 reps are light, cheap, and look good.

Baller wheels, try the used classified section. Stuff goes for pretty damn cheap on there in awesome sizes sometimes. Or you can check out YAJ if you want, but that'll cost you a little more.

Btw, next time, just go to the classifieds and look at prices and such yourself instead of making this type of post. Whatever the situation may be..

Tell me about it, finding quality wheels for under 2k is hard, even used. I got a set of VS-KF's 18x12 -17 for 2500 shipped with the rear wheels being new and the fronts used. That was 1k a piece for the rear wheels from Japan and 500 for the fronts which I got off someone here.

OP, i agree...rfp01's are played out but they're dope and come in great sizes/offsets. i've always liked them so i decided to spend a little bit more money and get them in the sbc coating. it's def not seen as frequently as the regular base colors...i think i paid around 17 or 1800 for my 18x9.5/10.5 in sbc.

To the OP ultimately you are the one who has to decided what wheel you want on your car. Wheels can be a pretty personal thing. One person make like the wheels a lot another may hate them.
You need to look at the different brands and figure out the look you want for your car. You have to decide if you want super light or just reasonable.

CR KAI's are nice , they are not lightest.
Rays 57D's are nice as well but they are not the lightest.
some people like Work XT7's and XD9's again not the lightest.
Enkei RPF1's? Light as fuck.
5zigen wheels? some light some not.

Its up to you asking us is just going to get a bunch of opinions with a sprinkling of facts.

For instance it is of my opinion that lip is played. Concave is the way. Though there are some bad ass lipped wheels I would consider running if I could get a set.
I would most likely run Concave instead because its dope looking . That is my opinion.

Enkei RPF1's were the first set of wheels I purchased NEW for the Miata, 16x8. Great wheel, very reasonable price, and excellent build quality. I think I ran over a fucking curb and the wheels are still perfect (but then again I dont run rubberband tires).

Looks-wise, I'm a huge fan of the CR KAI. I think its a really beautiful wheel and might pick some up someday just for fun. I dont care if theyre light, theyre just nice.

If you're going to talk about played out wheels, look at all the modern shit. XXR, rota or MB battles.. I dont even pay attention to wheels of that caliber.

Personally, THE most played out wheel of alltime in the 240 community, and I say this and blame it on Alex... the fucking 5zigen fn01rc... jesus christ. I like making fun of these wheels and call them "stock 240sx wheels" because so many people run these wheels. I guess theyre good entry level quality and all, I wont say they're shit. But I just cant run a wheel that everyone and their mother has. I'de rather have stock 350Z wheels or something, at least those are nothing worth noting.

SBC RPF-1 or some powder coated rpf-1 of a random color will help them stand out over the typical machine ones.

Agreed. I have CR KAI's and all I see are the knock off Drag one's. But yeah 1,500 should give you quite a few options. Just browse through or hit up some shops for quotes on wheels. Set of CR KAI's should run you at your budget though brand new.

Your not going to find anything with a good offset for under $1800. Everything on VRwheels have shitty high offsets and they want $1500+. Your best bet is to just browse the classifieds here, buy some rpf1 or save up another $500 to part yourself from the rest.

Oh and if your really considering those rays, your better off keeping the xxr's.

I just bought a set of Work VS-XX 18x8 and 18x9 for $1400 with tires in mint condition for my S14. There was also a guy near me selling a set of meisters 18x9.5 all around for $1500.

Yeah you'll be lucky to get anything in a good offset, I myself prefer 10"+ in the rear and 9.5" in the front. Heck if I can fit 12" in the rear I will with proper overfenders. I'll be damned if I have to run any kind of spacer, but even if you don't get any -offset wheels you can still afford +10-25 offset wheels which are good on a stock body..

I say XD9. Ravspec sells them brand new for around $1800 and I believe you can find a good condition set within your budget. That's one of my fav wheels.
