ive had my s13 that ive been building for almost a year now
the motor is an s13 blacktop with a few upgrades

i recently bought a Jim wolfe ecu from a friend
the jwt is tuned for: z32 maf,615cc inj, and t28 turbo..

my motor has 555cc inj, z32 maf, and t28 turbo..

Could my motor not be starting because of the injector size difference?

the motor has good compression, spark, the timing is right on the spot, and its getting some fuel. idk if its enough fuel though..

ive checked for vacuum leaks also:bite:

injectors are close enough in size that it should at least be able to start, though it would run a little lean.

Have you checked that you have spark on all 4 cylinders?

Fuel pressure?

try spraying some fuel or starting fluid in the intake and if it runs on that then you know its a fuel problem and start testing

i haven't checked for spark on all four/ lol.. just the first cyl. im gonna check that right now..

and yeah i tried staring fluid.

fuel pressure at ignition is at 48

yea check your spark then lol make sure all your grounds are good, and i belive there is a ground near where your coilpacks harness plugs into the engine harness right at the back of the valvecover.

*update*
we got it to start once after we adjusted the timing at top dead center, and the CAS all the way Advanced without the 2 bolts that connect it to the head.
but it ran like shit, it sounded like it needed to be more advanced. So we adjusted the CAS again and from there it went downhill..

*note- i did buy a new harness off ebay for 200 bucks. its not an oem nissan harness, could this be the problem???:wtf:

The harness could be an issue, but it sounds like you need to use an FSM to set timing properly, then attmpt to see if it starts.

Finally got it to start.

all this time ive been setting the timing wrong.

i kept putting the Second to the left marking on the pulley- to tdc.
We saw on the fr sport picture that they're crank pulley was on the first marking so we gave it a try and after cranking and fouling the injectors, we disconnected the injectors and re connected and it started right up.

thanks for the help though people
i couldn't download the FSM

The second from the left is TDC...that's how you set mechanical timing.
Marks go like this:
-5 0 5 10 15 20

WHen you set regular timing, you put the light on it (after putting it in idle mode) and have it line up on the 15 mark

Another trick you can do with the timing stuff out....have it ready to go...rev the motor up to i dunno 3000/4000 rpm and now watch the timing light...it'll jump around a bit and then steady out...if it steadies out on the 0* mark you know you're set correctly...it's hard to describe, but it's a cheat/protip way to double verifyt.

For some reason my car was off when i would set it to the second to the left mark (-5,0,5,10,15,20).. i put it on the negative 5 and it starter up. why???

Do you have mechanical timing correct? That is, crank in relation to the cams?

Yea something is off somewhere...it needs to be found

i don't know if something is off internally.
i bought the motor like this from jdm-online. This is the motor i bought..
JDM Nissan Silvia SR20DET S13 Blacktop *Upgraded* Motor '94-'98 - Sold - JDM Online (http://www.jdm-online.com/sold/jdm-nissan-silvia-sr20det-s13-blacktop-motor-94-107.html)

I never opened it or messed with the timing chain or cams.
The only thing i did was change the bearings but i just pulled the oil pan.

I checked the timing with the timing gun and its at the 15 mark now(second to right).
so far its running smooth and strong at 15psi with a jwt pop ecu

you may be ok, but I always like to pull off valve covers to reverify things, and to inspect inside...the engines have sat now for 10+ years sometimes.

Update:
still driving the car as a daily stock tune with the bbt28 and my custom intercooler and 555cc injectors. It pulls hard, it purrs at idle. but runs rich sometimes.
im pretty happy with my set up.:bigok:
