I figured there's probably a handful of people here using the RB26 engine swapped into their cars...

Spool Imports recently announced their RB34 motor, which they have been perfecting for quite some time as I understand it. They've finally managed to get one into a car, and get it on the dyno. The full story of how they build it, and a video of the start up is here: The Skylife: Spool Imports: RB34DET Monster Engine (http://tinyurl.com/5wlkfwf)

I'm just wondering though... considering the cost $5500 AUD, do you guys think its worth it? here's their dyno graphs:

Anybody out there already own one of these by any chance?

what about that old mantra, "theres no replacement for displacement"... I always thought that Nissan sorta proved that to not be true with the twin turbo RB26, capable of massive power on a relatively small 2.6L engine. compared to V8's... what do you guys think of it?

If it really only cost $5500 AUD then yes it is very worth it.

I would pay almost 6k for a 610rwhp engine.

well thats just for the kit then you have to buy a rb30 block which people in this country want WAYYYYY to much for! the difference between a 600 hp rb34 and a 600hp rb26 is gonna be powerband. the 3.4 litter will spool MUCH faster. i hope to do this one of these days but i have to get my car running with the motor i have in it first.

yea exactly, just the kit, which includes rods, crank, pistons etc

Notching the block to massage a long stroke crank is BALLER. this is very cool. If you dont mind me asking... How much did you mill of the deck and head? and also what was the thickness of the headgasket you ended up with?

I dont think that is a bad price at all and I like the idea. Over bore and stroke to achieve more displacement. Sure there is a replacement for displacement and that is VE, but the larger engine you have the easier it is to make power. Otherwise we would be trying to push 10000psi through a 5hp brigs motor and dropping them in our cars and there would be no reason for people to go with rb's vs ga16de's.

They are using a 95mm stroke and still revving to 7800 rpm and considering this is 1mm short of a ka crank, thats a massive crank that is still traveling fast. Very impressive.

If you can get that for $5500 (exchange rate is about even currently between us and au) that is a good deal.

Right now Im spending about $3580 to go 2.35L on my sr. Divide that by 4 cyl=895x6cyl=$5370 and that is considering nearly 3/4 of all of the parts Im using I got wholesale pricing on because were dealers of the products used, and you can buy that kit for $5500 YES that is a very good deal.

What is way to much for an RB30 block here in the states?

Spool has been making the best rods for years, this new set up they are offering is the business. It's definitely worth the money when you look at what companies like Titan or tomei want for one of their off the shelf set ups.

I think for a motor of that size and potential its worth $5500 aud.

Is the most they have made around 670 so far?
