Well, this is my second S chassis, first full build. The car is a 1991 240sx SE Hatchback 5spd. It is a rescued drift car from Chicago that spent most its life in Florida. The plan is to rebuild and restore the car to better than factory spec. The goal is to be able to have a street car that is comfortable and quiet to drive down the highway at 70mph and have a normal conversation without yelling at your passenger.

Full interior build will include complete gutting the interior, removing all the OEM sound deadening material and sloppy glue jobs. Sanding the entire cabin for aftermarket rust proofing, sound deadening and a few other tricks that we're going to try to keep the noise level down and keep the car enjoyable.

Full exterior build will include body work repair, full chassis respray (including the engine bay), OEM Type X kit, wheels (Volk, Work, SSR, etc.) and a few other minor custom things. Unsure of what color the car will be painted, but it will be something unique.

Suspension, well we're looking at some comfortable options. Coilovers (opinions are welcome), new bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc etc.

Powertrain - I will be using the S13 SR that I pulled out of my S14. Lightly modded, all the bolt ons, Power FC and a few other odds and ends. Nothing crazy, but then again I plan on going to a few more things before the engine goes in.

Myself and my good friend Shane (holemilk00) will be documenting the entire build with spread sheets. From items bought and money spent, to work that has been done and how many man hours it has taken to build this car. We will be reviewing the all the aftermarket products and comparing them to the OEM items that we will be replacing.

I'm sure there is a lot of details I'm leaving out, but it will most likely unfold over time.

Back from Chicago, loaded down with extra parts (lots of S13 SE drift spares, an extra dash and a fender). Needless to say the car is a mess. For now it will sit in the driveway until we reorganize the shop for some much needed room for a complete build.

Sorry for the blackberry pictures... worthless.

Finally made it to Chicago!

Done with that fiasco... Chicago traffic... blow me....

Trevor is a legitimate dude... he's the one that put the base map in my car for me before I drove it out to Monkey Wrench to be tuned last summer. I'll have to give you a hand sometime soon, man!

I will for sure when I'm back from Florida. We have several products and tools to review already.

S13boy89- a LOT of work has been done to the car already, you just can't post it all at once, it would be like skeetin on the first pump. Haha

Build threads:
Almost everyone enjoys building their cars and sharing that experience, as well as checking out others' builds for inspiration. Sadly, far too many users have a tendency to do half-hearted builds and either rarely update or update with trivial progress. In the interest of keeping the Chat forum clear of three hundred 'Install SR, ziptie aero, rattlecan paint' threads, incomplete, or in-progress build threads are not allowed. If you have completed your build, wrangle all those pictures into a post and tell us about it, but make sure the build is finalized. If you insist on having an in-progress build, Premium members have a specialized subforum for that specific purpose.
