Im driving up my car to norcal this weekend and im wondering if i have to be extra careful in certain areas. My car is rolling on 18's with fat lip, ricer looking exhaust (but quiet), and FMIC.

You are going to get owned.

Shift under three grand and pray to God that you don't drive past a cop.

Norcal is a big area, bigger than a number of states, so it depends on where you are. Just be careful.

as long as u dont do anything stupid and attract cops to do so, then you should be all good...

Fremont and Milpitas is kind of a scary area since they crack down on illegal swaps, super slammed, loud exhausts, etc....They know what to look for...
San Jose, Santa Clara, Cupertino, Sunnyvale area, cops dont really care and wont pull you over often as Milpitas/Fremont...

just dont do anything stupid and play it safe...

Too bad your car is red... I drive past cops all the time and they don't even flinch... but then my s14 is black... BUT I do try to stay out of Union City, Hayward, Milpitas, and especially FREMONT!!!

Heartwork is right about the ok cops... even the CHP's are cool as long as you're not breaking any moving rules. Just some advice... stay in the slow lane or the lane next to it, drive the speed limit and you "should" be ok.

i've had my red car with exhaust just under a year and i've been pulled over once by chp, in the unincorporated area between hayward and san leandro, and he let me go. i live in hayward and go to union city frequently, fremont sometimes and had no problems there.

haha, my car looks like junk man...

seriously, in the lower south bay area the cops are pretty cool....
in my old car i was driving home from a body shop with a rear european trunk lid with no license plate and a FMIC and cop pulled right next to me and asked where where i got my european trunk lid :D

also got pulled over in Cupertino for "exhibition of speed" against my friend...he let me go cause it wasnt a fair race since the other guy had a supercharger and i was na  Said he used to race back in teh days, blah blah blah...

Milpitas/Fremont cops will just scope out for any modified cars

I actually thought that one black s14 base that drives around our hood was yours... you know the gutted one. But it's not junk... you can put your wheels on my car and say it's yours like that one guy on cardomain LOL!

I live pretty much in the middle between San Francisco and San Jose. I've been stopped by the cops five times, once a week, in the last month. :hammer: Last i've gotten pulled over was last saturday. :coolugh: I've got exhaust but everything else looks stock. 4 of the 5 times were CHP, they pull me over because of no front license plate...which i gotta take care of now cuz of a fix-it ticket. :wtc:

Anyway, basically try to keep the rev's low so it won't be so loud...go speed limit, and uhm basically don't act suspicious.

i drive a black s13. it's not even slammed.

One of the CHP's stopped me cuz of loud exhaust. He said "You cannot modify your exhaust!" I'm like "uhm? I can't modify my exhaust..?" "NO! It MUST be stock." "uhh..."

Then he asked if I still had my cat converter, asked me twice...then he ended up saying "happy birthday, later dude" and walked off and drove by hella fast. (it wasn't even my birthday..) but yeah, silly cops.. wasting both our time

really? I used to drive around with 1st Place [Gold] Advans, super giant rocket launcher N1 style muffler, minivan sideskirts, and a phat sticker on my rear window that says "SUCK IT PO POS" in Milpitas and I havent been pulled over.....

oh, but then again, I have a silencer and my front license plate is intact. Maybe that's the key:mad:

Ummmmmmmmmmmm..........Yeah california sucks doesn't it?

If you get pulled over, know your rights man. If he tries to look under your hood (search/illegal search) just tell him "I'd rather you not, it's my dads car" and that means you said "No" to his search. And if he pressures you, ask him how this would stand up in court if you told your "lawyer" about it. Usually they back away because you can pin them for harassment. It's simple. If you know how to get out of a cop searching your car for weed, you can do it for him searching for the swap.

That's so rediculous how bad it is out there. They way we tell if it's safe to drive some where on the east, is when you're driving through the place and how ever many cops are there. But they only want you for speeding, and they couldn't care less. (but yes some have gotten harassed about fart cans)

GOOD LUCK!

in fremont, they'll pull you over for a sticker. and sunnyvale police are the worst.. if you get pulled over, 5 other cars would come and help since they got nothing else better to do

That's funny. I get the same deal with my light blue car. light blue color + S13 coupe + guy with glasses = safe to cops, I guess.

I usually drive like a grandmother on the streets though... At the track is a different story. :)

its true you act like a bitch you can treated like a bitch. That goes for all cities in the bay. I mean its more apparent in of course Fremont/Milpitas but in san jose and all the other areas not really. I dont get pulled over and my car is dropped to the floor and i dont use a silencer. I have a HKS Hiper and everyone tells me its hella fuckin loud but just gotta creep around when you know you should. Oh and the big ass Blue Advans dont help either. Stay in the slow lane when your on the highway if possible and stick to the guidelines when you know cops or chp are around and no need to worry. Stay away from hotspots like fremont but its weird cause i make trips to milpitas a lot but not like in the heart of it where i know its trouble.
San Jose cops stop crime and got better things to do.
Milpitas semi- more leaning to dick heads
Fremont - kings of the cock. They pull you over like nothing
Santa Clara - they like crime better than people with fast cars.

On my way to school in San Jose, I got pulled over for my GP spec D. The cop followed me for like a block and into a gas station and then pulled me over. I haven't had any problems otherwise in San Jose, but they do have nothing better to do but write up students at SJSU for j-walking in a construction area that leave you no choice but to j-walk since the crosswalk is blocked off by concrete walls...

Fremont/Union City my girlfriend tells me there are alot of modified cars that roll through there and that she sees alot of cops sniffing for them too.

San Mateo, you might want to watch out if you're rolling up 280. There are plenty of pigs there and they're not really afraid to intimidate you. The judge there will also throw the book at you if you've got a modified car and drive over 80mph if you get busted.

Daly City is pretty chill, I was following behind a camry at regular distance but was doing 80 and didn't notice it since I was following the flow of traffic. A white camero pulls up next to me with alot of blue lights inside and I had my head resting on my hand while my elbow was resting on the edge where the window pokes out. I see the blue lights from the corner of my eyes and I slowly glance over and see 2 cops waving hello at me and I jump to alert and slow down. They laugh and speed up, cut me off and light up the camry in front of me. Follow the speed of traffic there.

San Francisco, the pigs are too busy eating donuts and jerking off to bust you for anything unless you're doing something really stupid.

Vallejo/Sonoma area, watch out for the bushes before you hit Infineon Raceway. The pigs like to hid behind the bushes and signs there.

Modesto - The only place I wouldn't go is McHenry Avenue, mostly only the weekends because it's full of ricers. For every nice car there are 50+ riced out ones and the drivers of these cars are dumbshits and will probably try to race you, which will get you in trouble with one of the many cops that patrol that street on the weekends, especially Friday night.
Anywhere else in the city you can basically drive around like a complete asshole and not worry, because there will always be a louder, faster-driving, more obvious ricer around to attract cops (on the rare occasion that they're around) while he's on his way to McHenry... You can even go drift in the mall parking lot. The only person who will get upset is some punk working at Macy's, and he isn't going to do shit but call the "mall police" who won't show up, if they even do, until after you leave. ;)

Local cops in the north bay *should* be fine, it's those CHPs that you have to fear.
