I will be getting an sr soon and my plans are to tear it down and replace what needs to be replaced and upgrade the bottom end and maybe the top end. I was thinking of getting some CP pistons and Eagle rods and just stock bearings. My power plans are between 350-400 rwhp, what else should I do to the engine to make this happen? I don't know anything about head work so not really sure what to do there. The turbo I was going to get is a Garrett GT3071R and I want to be able to hit at least 20lbs and even up to 25lbs at the most. Will the trans be able to handle the power I'm looking for? I'm new to nissan motors but I have helped build an 92 Eagle Talon TSI so I'm not new to car stuff, so if anyone can tell me what more I need to do or not to do I will be very appreciative.
Thanks,
wance

Dont get stock bearings, get clevite or something its like $70. 25psi? Your gonna be spending some cheddar, get titanium retainers and springs, replace valve seals, get supertech stuff for the head, I know people running them and they have no problems. Might as well do everything at once the right way, cams, cam gears and if you wanna get fancy solid lifters but you have to shim them every 5000 miles or so. You can get away with a stock head for a little but not long

Well what do I have to do to make it handle 20psi?

It will handle it but only for so long. If you have the money id do everything at once. But the most important thing though is tuning make sure you get a good tuner and your motor should last a while

Have you ever built anythign to handle the power the OP wnats, or been part of a car running that sort of boost (SR related only here)....
...because it's obvious you haven't.
1. Stock bearings are perfect for his application.
2. You do not need new springs, retainers, or valves. That's total bullshit. Stock stuff is plenty good for 350-450 whp. Springs are needed for certain cams, but if you stick with JWT stuff you won't.
3. Cam gears are CERTAINLY not needed. A tuning tool, yes for perfection...quality cams do not need them. Install as OEM
4. Solid lifters are nice, but not needed for 350-450 whp.
There are COUNTLESS stock 'head' (well excluding cams we'll say) people making that power, and that have been for years, both RWD and FWD. Heck even my personal car is a sentiment to what I preach, and it sees 5 track days usually a year....and has seen them for the past 4-5 years.
O/P
CP pistons (which technically aren't really needed, just suggested), stock rods (screw eagle ones), JWT S3 cams (or S4 if going with a 30r), GT2871, and the associated fuel mods (600cc+, Walbro 255, etc etc) will be plenty for you. CHeck out the 2871r thread for TONS of solid 350-400 whp cars, utilizing stock stuff, all running very well.
Big thing is, fuel and a good tune first.

Ok cool thanks man. Will the 2871r be able to handle 20psi?

^^^ I only said not to get stock bearings becuase why not? I didnt word it well but I meant do the head while your doing everything else if he has the money. I know the stock stuff will handle his goals but I was just naming stuff. I didnt exspect him to do what I said. I have most of the stuff I listed other than the cam gears and solid lifters. I dont post shit just to do it, I was just basing it off of mine and other people I know with sr's in his power range

Ok my plan is to get a 2876, valve springs and retainers, rocker stoppers, new ex mani, 850cc injectors, walbro pump, rom tune. So that should get me to my goal. I hope.
