Hi Guys,
Would a NISMO radiator cap improve cooling?
All I know is that the pressure increases so the temperature increases as well. But does that mean it will dissipate more heat?
What is the purpose of the getting a NISMO radiator cap?
Thanks

The purpose of the nismo cap is it accentuates the http://pfm101.com/images/funny/cookiebling.gif

Bling. I second that. It says "nismo" on it. That is worth the money to you...go ahead and get it!

if it increases the pressure in your cooling system, it's not just bling factor. higher pressure = higher boiling point = safer cooling system, provided:
rad hoses are in good shape
rad is in good shape
nothing blows out due to excess pressure

it doesnt increase pressure, it has a higher pressure rating. Just means in high boost cars the cap will handle more pressure before blowing off.
It cant hurt but it wont necessarily help.

Are you talking about boost or coolant, because high boost has absolutley nothing to do with the pressure rating on a rad. cap. I think you're confused. Anyway, listen to Mrmemphis, he's right. The cap does increase cooling effeciency but it's primary function is bling factor.

Basically,
The cap lets you push the pressure limits higher. Higher pressure will test your cooling system's hoses, radiator, pipes, and weak points.
Hear me out here:
So if the regular cap runs the radiator at lower pressure and the NISMO cap at higher pressure, it means that the NISMO cap will also run the radiator at higher temperatures.
At lower pressure, it will blow off earlier, so the water radiator temperature won't go any higher. Does this mean the heat will go to the engine?
Hence, the NISMO cap allows the temperature of the radiator to get higher so it draws more heat away from the engine.
What do you guys think?

Yeah, in the end its about the bling bling look, haha. So does the NISMO oil cap do anything at all? or does it have same purpose as the radiator cap?
My friend (drives an AE86) debated about this, so I'm wondering what you guys thought. I'm looking online, if I find anything i'll post it up.
Cheers All

The extra pressure raises the boiling point of the coolant 3 degrees for each pound and lets the engine operate at a higher temperature without loss of coolant from boiling.
