Woman Killed: Woman Struck, Killed by Repo Man in Chino Hills - ktla.com (http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-chino-ped-killed,0,4070318.story)

CHINO HILLS (KTLA) -- A woman was struck and killed early Tuesday morning during a car repossession.

Lisa Via (42) was crushed while standing between her car and a tow truck outside her home in the 5000 block of Monte Vista Avenue, said San Bernardino County coroner officials.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Via ran out of the house as tow truck driver Leo Song hoisted the Buick onto his truck.

As Song began pulling the car out of the driveway he lost sight of Via and assumed she was away from the cars.

At this point, Via's husband ran outside and told Song his wife was stuck under the car.

Song used a jack to lift the car and pulled Via out from underneath.

is it really worth losing your life because you couldn't make car payments and refuse to give your car up and rather challenge the repo man? Think people. Fucked up situation.

My guess is she got between the tow truck and car and challenged the driver "with me here you are not moving it" or some ish. Dude probably got feed up with the bullshit because Im sure he seen it all the time.

My thought is "fuck the guy is already here, as much as I bitch and moan, there really is no way he is gonna leave here without my car, might as well just give it up and save the trouble".

They got video of the news cast

honestly the driver could have been scared for his life, you know how crazy bitches get on those tv shows. he probably just wanted to get the hell out of there fast and not knowing her dumbass would challenge the laws of physics = car running over her when you stand in front of it.

Yeah definitely not worth losing your life over a car, especially a Buick.

Repo guy is going to screwed for sure though.
Will probably get convicted for involuntary manslaughter.
No way he could he could have not noticed she was there, he was probably being reckless.
The husband could be a possible witness.

Victim wasn't too smart, but killing her is going too far.

Some people just don't know when to stop and STFU. No car is worth a life IMO, especially a freakin Buick.

AGREED. if she wasn't a DEGENERATE and paid her bills like she was supposed to she wouldn't have been put in that situation. if she wasn't an idiot and decided it's a good idea to stand between BIG ASS HEAVY pieces of metal while they are getting closer together she would be alive. no sympathy whatsoever.

I feel bad for the driver, no way in hell he saw a woman standing between the back of the Tow Truck and the Buick, not at 3:30am.

The problem is, he is facing involentary or vehicular manslaughter :/

With a good attorney, they can get out of it. No way he saw her, depending on if it happened in her driveway, or the road, couldn't he argue that she was illegally Jay-walking and he had the right-of-way? lol. Either way, she's a dumb cunt, and after many times of not paying notes, she finally "paid the price". :tardrim:

Wow... That's crazy. I don't get why people put up a fight in the first place considering you know for a fact you're not paying the car payments. So why are you even resisting? The only thing you're doing is wasting yours and the repo mans time.

Point is...
People that get their cars repo'd and put up a fight are fucking retarded. Give them the keys and call it a day.

Repo men are out there to do their job, and to do it safe. They give/show you a letter if you are present and kindly give you a chance to empty the vehicle with your possession. Now it is your choice to run after you car. Besides tow trucks are pretty big, and if he cant see her, he cant see her.

Sucks, but its really not worth doing all that. Ive had 1 of my vehic repo'd left it kindly outside for the tow truck, i left a note to knock before pulling it, but they decided not to, So when i saw em i ran outside...."blah,blah,,.." Repo man told me he was scared shitless seeing a big ass dude cmin out. And that they jst want to do their job days in and out.

It's chasing the american dream, it means different things to different people. You are right, people in this country feel such a sense of entitlement to have nice things. They just need to have the cash in the bank to back it up.

Thankfully I have not.

Regardless I don't see how that would justify the repo-man's negligence to the point of killing someone.
Unless you yourself were there, you also don't know if the victim made contact with the repo man.
The 'skid marks' on the vid probably show that the driver was also taking off a lot quicker than necessary.

But let's say hypothetically the repo man was being entirely truthful, and did NOT find out about the victim until she was hurt.
Repo man would still be liable for criminal charges here.
Maybe it's the difference between voluntary and involuntary manslaughter, or that's my guess.

Either way, he fucked up and will be in deep shit.
Yeah, there's always the possibility a great lawyer will get you out of anything,
but the evidence against the repo-man indicating that he was reckless (skid-marks, husband as only eye-witness) does not look good.

Maybe it's just me, but common sense plays a nice role here.

If someone tells you to not touch something because it has 10000 live volts coursing through it, you don't touch it, right?

Now if someone tells you to step away from your car that is currently being repossessed, you don't stand your ground over your shitty lack of bill-paying skills.

What is the correct course of action you ask?

LOL. my point being is that she was a degenerate who didn't pay her bills (for prob like 4+ months straight) and i'm willing to bet wasn't "polite" with the repo man. why the hell would she think she had a right to try and get the car back? why would she be STUPID enough to get inbetween a tow truck and it's load? and i'm willing to bet that as he was pulling off she jumped in between them as a last ditch effort to "make" him stop...problem was she was lacking common sense as well a positive bank account and didn't take into consideration something called a blind spot.
