In addition to the more aerodynamic look, emRamp;T/em reports that a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/nissan"Nissan/a may equip the future Z with a a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/hybrid"hybrid/a drivetrain to both increase performance and reduce fuel consumption at the same time. A battery pack would also go a long way toward curbing the vehicle's emissions.br br If the engineers behind the 2013 Z decide to go that route, emRamp;T/em says that we can likely expect to see the same running gear under the hood as currently found in the a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/m"Infiniti M hybrid/a. That means a 3.5-liter V6 working in concert with an electric motor to produce a combined 360 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. That line of thought is bolstered by rumor of a hybrid-drivetrain Z test mule buzzing around the U.S. at the moment, and in that configuration, the publication says that the Z should be good for close to 30 mpg. We're guessing it won't have any trouble getting out of its own way, either.br br Head over to a href="http://www.roadandtrack.com/future-cars/2013-nissan-z"emRoad amp; Track/em/a for the full skinny.br br [Source: a href="http://www.roadandtrack.com/future-cars/2013-nissan-z"Road amp; Track/a]p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both"a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/02/25/rendered-speculation-2013-nissan-370z-goes-hybrid/"Rendered Speculation: 2013 Nissan 370Z goes hybrid/a originally appeared on a href="http://www.autoblog.com"Autoblog/a on Fri, 25 Feb 2011 08:59:00 EST. It's not absolutely terrible to me, but I doesn't say 'Z' either. 'S' maybe, but definently not 'Z'...

Hybrid? Trash it. They were garbage when they removed the turbos. The godfather said it himself.

Hybrid? Trash it. They were garbage when they removed the turbos. The godfather said it himself.
LOL they had become trash with the first turbo ones to begin with if your going to go down that road.
Seriously look at the S30, realize it was a light weight bang for the buck entry level sports car that kicked ass on cars that were twice to three times its price in 1970.
Fast forward by the time the 280 and 280sx hit the car had already become overweight and without suspension improvements. When they came out with the 280zx Turbo the car was a piece .
Sure Nissan and Paul Newman took it racing and made it respectable on the track. For a street car it was not that exciting. LOL Oh and L28 was a junk ass engine to begin with. Strapping a Turbo on it did not help much. LOL
Ok move to the 90's sure the Z32 in Turbo form was fast sure it had decent suspension that made it handle good for a pig. None the less the 180sx wiped the streets of NA Z's because they were exactly what the original Z had been. Lighter weight excellent handling fast entry level sports cars.
Now I know Mr K did not find the 350 all that. Though it was closer to what the original Z had been than several previous generations before it.
The 370 is actually a damn good improvement over it as well.
Oh and the VQHR powerplant is an excellent engine.
Now Mr I want to have a turbo or the car is shit. Turbo's are not the be all end all. Not saying there bad, they are indeed fun but NA can be just as fun. So get off your if it does not have a Turbo its shit bandwagon and stop taking Mr K's real statements and stretching them to what you think he said.
His statement was when asked about the 350, I have one in my garage but to me it does not have the same spirit as the Original Z. AKA S30 .
He did not say anything about Turbo's.
Now with that said Road and Tracks rendering is just that a rendering. We all know what renderings mean. Rampant speculation without any facts to back it up.
It does look kind weird and it does look like a cross between a Z a S chassis and a couple of other cars from other manufacturers. Though come on.
Its Road and Track and its a rendering. Get over it.

looks like another fish car. manufacturers keep modeling cars after fish. they need to model one after a wolf or a shark or something badass

Nissan seems to be on the right track. Again, all manufacturers are under the gun to make more efficient vehicles to meet future mpg and emission standards. Design wise, there are many aspects that I can see being used. I need more angles of the side and definitely of the rear. Overall, I'm liking the design.

Yeah it's nice to have that torque, but a bit more power and/or tune-ability would be nice.
Can't say I'm sold on the hybrid thing, at least not yet.

450 ft-lbs off the lot with 30 mpgs... sounds like my new daily, just in time for college graduation.

I personally wish they would go some sort of retro route with the newer z's and drop a shit ton of weight off the car, however unlikely that may be it'd still be awesome to think about. I think the main problem with that is that to get it back to its original weight it would be the size of a current miata lol

Doing a throwback retro style Z would be badass. I do not see Nissan doing it though. They they do treasure the Icon, in typical Japanese fashion they look to move forward design wise. Rather than trying to resurrect a look they have already done.
I mean yes there are more hints of the original S30 in the Z34 than recent generations before it. Still it was moved forward.
Unlike the American car companies, I do not see the Japanese car companies ever doing something like that.

Ever owned or worked on a turbo Z car? You'd rethink that.

Horrible. They need to call it S16 instead.
Ifiniti M will be around $40-50K. I don't expect many people willing to pay $40K for this thing... but, hell, this is only speculation. We'll see if Nissan even decides to mass produce it.

Ah your are stringing together two completely separate things. The article reads it would use the M running gear. That is nothing new with Nissan, they share running gear across a lot of platforms. It does not automatically put the future Z in the price range of the Infiniti M. You are extrapolating out something that is just not logical.
LOL on top of that get over the S16 shit. LOL The Z has more cache than the S series. LOL
The Fairlady Z is a legend. Not saying that the 180sx is not a legend in Japan. Though the Fairlady is a legendary model right up there with the Skyline all over the World.

Relax. I was joking about the S16. IDC about the silvia nor do I care about a hybrid Z. In all honesty, I didn't even read the article just checked the pic and moved on.

Ever owned or worked on a turbo Z car? You'd rethink that. i gotta agree, dude working on Turbo Z cars, is a pain in the dick. but oh so worth it. I've been doing GTM Twin Turbo installs for 350Z's and a couple 370's and i gotta say IT IS WELL WORTH the battle scars, money, and possible divorce for the money spent. lol
hybrid sports cars are the new thing, get over it

So your what, 60? Youd have to be to have shopped for a 240z when new.
Not defending the kid, just saying..
Also a 240Z was not "cheap", sure it was not astronomical like a Jaguar or Porsche, it was more than moat cars.
Base was ~$4,300 an with options $5,500 was possible.
'Vettes started in the low $5k range and a Camaro SS was $3,900.

Not 60 lol, Though I am old enough to have owned 10 240Z's in the 80's . To have started out with a 72 Datsun 510 4 door and a 69 Datsun 510 2 door in high school. I had my own Japanese engine and transmission business in the 80's.
Actually 4k for the Z in 1970 was cheap and there were not many options air and radio come to mind. . Considering the cars it was lined up against aka the 911, Triumph Spitfire, ETC.. which all were around 7-10k.
Also what you go for the money you paid? It was a real game changer.
Yes I am older and yes I have been playing with Nissan's for some 25 years plus. Why, because I like them. I like other cars as well and have owned other cars. Though having owned and owning cars specific to Zilvia I am here.
