I don't know if there's an official name, but people usually refer to them as Type-X taillights.

they are called 'kouki' taillights. or 96-98 180sx taillights if you dont want to use the japanese term.

advantages of using them: look hot, get props from everyone, make ricers jealous.

disadvantages: i dont see any, except that they cost about $500. its all about preference. some ppl like zenki/chuki tails. others prefer the kouki tails. i love the zenki/chuki tails for that classic s13 look. the kouki look more modern.

you can get them from heavy throttle, ebay, nismoparts. almost anywhere.

Cool thanks.

I hear they burn out and you're screwed?

Are they east to install?

Does the center piece have to be painted or they come in different colours?

easy to install. just bolts right up. if you've ever put altezzas on your car, then you can do this to. the top center portion comes painted glossy balck. the lower power needs to be painted to match your car. some ppl paint both the top and bottom center panels. the ghetto ppl just slap it on and call it a day.

the spoiler is a wangan style wing. or 'whale' tail. many different varieties.

PDM car=PDM sides, rear, and wing (www.pdm-racing.com). but the sides and rear are copies of Canadian OEM optional sides and rear. the wing is a Bomex copy.

Since we're all English-speaking here, can't we just call it "late-model" taillights?

"late-model" how? that's pretty ambigious. If I heard someone tell me, "y0 money, dats some phatty late-model 240 tails u gots!" What would that mean? personally I'd think 97-98 s14 tails.

Oh yeah, and my name is Yoshi, but I was born in east LA... so we should call me something like Bob right?

They're called Kouki tails cuz that's what they're commonly referred to as in japan, where they're made, where they ALL come from. Hey, while we're at it, let's just call all bautworst "sausage", and sushi should be called, "seaweed rolls"... dear god, what do we do about "French Fries"? they're american, but we say they're french! We DO definitely need to call chow mein, "oriental noodles" or something like that... can we re-invent the wheel while we're at it?

Kouki means last generation right? Doesn't that translate to "late-model" anyways?

BTW, since you were born in East LA, I'm goin to start calling you Holmes, eh?

:) I'm just playing.
