Anyone ever wire up their own keyless entry? (IE one that came with a car alarm) Any special parts you need? Any problems or concerns?

does your car have power locks or no??
i had to wire my own lock actuators and the relays to control them.... but it'll pretty much be the same thing as finding which door wire controls the locks (use an FSM) and wire a relay to send a signal (ground or pos.... not sure which is used for the standard locks) through a relay triggered by the alarm.
hmm.... that seems to not be of much help... but good luck!

yeah I have power locks...so its just a matter of finding the right wire for each side and hooking it up according to the directions?
cool... crap did I post this twice?
was it hard though? I mean if Im comfortable wiring up a stereo would it be too much harder?

Hey, its not hard at all to do if you have any wiring experience.
Hardest part is finidng the right door lock wires. You can do one of two thing: use a multimeter and check all the wires going into the door or you can run the wire into the door and splice it into the wire coming from the lock switch. Thats what I did, but it was a pain in the ass snaking the wires in, I used a coathanger and poked it through and yanked it the rest of the way with the wires attached at the other end. Should be the negative trigger wires on your alarm if i remember correctly.
Aside form that, all you should need is the speaker, power and ground hooked up.As long as its not for a remote start, just find a wire thats +12V all the time, shouldnt be drawing too much power so it shouldnt need to go right to the battery. Use a fuse though, dont want to blow any other circuits if somethings wrong.
As for the speaker, just run a wire though an existing hole in the firewall, if you have to make your own be sure to use a grommet so you dont strip the wire and short it out.
Good luck, shouldnt be too hard. Ive put alarms in my 200sx, s14 & my friends s13 w/ no prob.
