Alright, so im looking to do a KAdeT...

whats done to the KA-
-BC 272 cams
-3angle vavle job, hot tank, acid washed
-bored .05 over
-CP pistons 9.0-1
-eagle rods
-ARP EVERYTHING, from pan studs to head bolts
-exedy stg3 clutch
-(gonna do all aluminum valve train)

So I was told by a friend of mine thats done a few KADEt's that he tuned 370's, z32maf, and a t28, with a SAFC and no standalone or enthalpy ecu on a max of 7lbs... JUST THE SAFC to a max of 7lbs...

my question... is it safe to drift a setup like that? I DONT WANT TO BLOW MY MOTOR, its hard enough to afford gas now-a-days, let alone a motor...

So is it a safe idea, or should I just wait to do a enthalpy?

from what ive heard...
ppl that do ka-t's always cheap out on the tune and blow their motors
if you already put all this money on the motor just wait
thats what i would do.

Safc is crap for a car converted to turbo, it has no timing control. The ka NA timing map is way off for turbo. Get a tuned ecu $400

Ok, emance or enthalpy? What's plus and minus to both?

I have a jim wolf tuned ecu and I've been happy with that in my ka-t. I would not bother with an safc unless you just use it for fine tuning. Personally I would go full stand alone tho. I seem to be the only one dumb enough around to not get an ems. make sure you get a good wideband too.

i have a jimwolf tune as well going for 3 years with no problems

#1 thing is tuning

jimwolf/enthalpy/nistune/standalone

A friend of mine has an emance for 175... I was wondering, if it was worth waiting for an enthalpy or not?

Stay away from Emance!

Enthalpy is a great alternative!

2871r on 10 psi, 550cc injectors, z32 maf and an enthalpy tuned ECU and ride out.

I'd suggest saving money to do it right..It'd suck to see all that money and effort go to waste because you didn't invest in a good tune. Enthalpy or JWT would be my best suggestion.
