View Full Version : Pics of my s14.5 w/rims

As promised. Here are some pics of my car w/the rims on. The car is still higher than it will eventually be. I wanna see how much they settle before dropping the coilovers down lower. I'm paranoid about rubbing on the conversion fenders. Rubbing on fiberglass fenders=:wtc:

IMO it doesnt look good.

Why? the rims and the car don't go together. The rims are BLLLIIINGGG (take off the centercaps though) and the car is... meh.. stock (stock S15 bumper, OEM zenki SS). Basically --IMO mind you-- you need to get either a BN Sports or FRIENDS or VERTEX bodykit, OR sell your blingity for some gold 17x9.5 +12 Advan RGs or SSR Type C.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I like the car without those specific rims, and I like the rims without the car. I really like the stype of the body and such, but it needs tamer, more race derived, lighter looking rims...

The front end just doesn't look right on the S14. The that top line running along the top of the door doesn't match with the fender. The sloping front end doesn't match well with the back either. Other than that, you're car looks sweet. What size and offset are those wheels? What is the tire size? I like that paint. Audi TT color right?

Oh well, can't please everyone. I personally like the way everything turned out. My personal tastes are very different. I don't like all the tacked on fiberglass bodykits and I'm not a big fan of gold rims.

As far as the specs go. I was very hesitant to go super low on the offsets because of the fiberglass conversion fenders. Now I know I could have gone a bit more agressive.

Front is a 18x8.5 w/a +30 and a 5mm spacer on 225/40's
Rear is a 18x9.5 w/a +30 no spacer on 255/35's

I had to run spacers because the rim was hitting my 30mm Z32 aluminum calipers. Ideal offset would have been about a 20-25 front and rear w/the same widths. The rims cleared the Tein Flex's w/out any problems whatsoever.

blxmjx, i don't know about everyone else, but your car is AWSOME
:bigok: in my book. Very nicely done i must say dude. As for the rims, i really dig the deep dish action thats outstanding! And as the ride height goes, from the pictures it looks good to me. If that were my car, i'd leave it like that, i think it looks great. Keep up the good work! Oh, i also have a soft spot for grey cars, so i love the color :rawk:

WOAH! hot wheels

but doesnt match the car at all! :(
your car is too simple too plain. those wheels are BLING. shoudl get some bigger sideskirts and a better bumper/rear bumper

but...whatever

looks ok

Thanks for all the compliments!

Only other bodymods that I'm planning is putting on my greddy/trust lip spoiler and cwest mini spoiler. I'm not willing to put on any fiberglass bodypieces. The fiberglass fenders are the last piece of fiberglass I'll ever purchase.

I wouldn't go w/any of the big fiberglass bumpers or sideskirts. They are too overdone for my taste. I like to keep things simplistic. That's the great thing about modding cars. Everyone can do things the way he/she likes, whether other people like it or not. At the end of the day as long as I'm happy w/the outcome then everything is great.:D

Nice rims, but is doesn't go to well with that color and front bumper. Since you don't like fiberglass....I think you should have gone with the Spec R front bumper....IF you could have found it. However the lip should look good along with the wing.

why did u make another thread?

oh yea...

here is the car that your car reminds me of....

Great looking car. The comments that I were going to make it seems that Rinsey and Baron already covered.

Car exterior wise is way too stockish looking to run those flashy wheels to look right. Too more tire. Not enough streach. Offset too high. Simply lower it a whole lot more then it was look great w/ out adding anymore exterior mods.

But nice car regardless.

The stock SE wheels I thought acually looked nicer on your car. :boink:

Kids, be patient. The car is not done yet. I have a urethane front lip and rear spoiler that are going to be put on still. Just enjoy the pics and realize that the car is still a work in progress. Geeze, I've only had the car for 3 months. Give me some time to get everything done. I personally think the car has come a very long way in 3 months.

Then again, I don't think my car will ever satisfy some of your tastes. I'm not a fan of tires that are too small for the rims, I like meat on my rims. I can see that my tastes are waaaay different. Its ok though, different strokes for different folks. Let me show you some examples of the style I like. Low key body mods w/some nice wheels.

These are some of my previous and current cars.

So as far as aftermarket bumper/rear bumper and sideskirts the only thing that stops you from wanting it is because it is fiberglass or is it none of the styles apeal to you just wondering? Not all of them are crazy fang eat you alive kits of course.

Yes, camber would definitely work. But then i'd worry about the inner rim/tire hitting coilover.

I don't like this tip. Smaller tire= less protection for the wheel. SSR's aren't full forged, i'd worry about potholes way too much. Plus, I like meaty tires.

w00t! i thought i was the only one left who didn't mind a bit of tire buldge (although my 245 on a 7.5" wide rim doesn't count)....

if you adjust it with camber plates, you move the entire coilover in the same amount as the top of the tire. clearance stays the same.

Honestly bro, its all fine w/me. I realize everyone has different tastes. You guys like your drift style stuff w/the stretched rims and bodykits. I appreciate all that and I try to be openminded to other peoples tastes. I'm not going to try to sway people to like what I like, that would be pointless and very bland. I appreciate all your comments whether positive or negative.

It allows me to reply and raise my post count.:D :D bwahahaha

Ace- damn good idea. I'm going to wait and see if the coilovers settle any further. I figure I'll drive the car around a few weeks then try and see how much lower I can reasonably go. I know I can't go super low because my exhaust hangs pretty low already.

Nitekids- I still have the s4 and the s2k. I can't really say the s14 is my favorite. I've only driven the car a total of 4-5 times. haha:D . I'm selling the s2k pretty soon though, I'm looking at picking up an evo or an sti or maybe even an awd g35.

The exhaust is exposed to the road, speed bumps, road salt, rocks, dead animals, bla bla bla. Supposedly the exhaust is a wear item, so you shouldn't worry too much about it scraping :p

But, the car looks fine as it is. Raise it, lower it, whatever. Still looks good to me (prolly cause it's a hell of a lot cleaner than my autox whore).

I think the lip, and wing will complete the package nicely, and make up for anything the body is lacking.

I agree that in it's current state, the wheels are hotter, than the car.. The wing, and lip will balance everything out.

I probably would have gone with a little lower-key sideskirts too. I like real subtle setups. edit - nevermind.. I think the fact that you have no front lip, makes the side skirts look funky. I cant WAIT to see the finished product.

all-in-all Looking Uber-sexy! keep it up!

Also, any engine mods? You NEED a big FMIC in that bad boy.

-I'm with sykikchimp on this one. Looks better now that you have rims... but you need a wing. Even just something subtle would complete the look. thats just my 2cents!

sykikchimp- i agree wholeheartedly. In its current state there is something missing. I think the front lip and rear spoiler will tie everything together. As far as the sideskirts go, I went w/the simplest sideskirts that I could find. The OEM kouki sideskirts were a bit more subtle but I prefer the look of the zenki sideskirts.

The engine is stock right now. I have a complete rb25det swap ready to be installed. I just want to drive the car a little bit before starting the swap.

lagvoid- actually the bay was left unpainted. The car was originally black so I figured it matches the gray pretty close. The engine bay is surprisingly similar to the color of the exterior. I'll post engine bay shots once the swap is complete.

slidestar- i agree. the rear spoiler and lip will make the car look better. I went w/a subtle mini spoiler from cwest. The front lip is a greddy/trust piece.

very nice paint job, for 2k it should that good tho hehe. are you gonna paint the engine bay when you do the motor swap? i guess since it's black it doesn't make much of a difference huh? unless you wanted to be import showoff tyte. the rims are super sex, i think it will look good a bit lower, but it's still nice, don't see too much strawberry faces, especially ones in good taste (strawberry faced cavalier at D1! NOOO!!!) always agreed with your taste in wheels tho, very sweet, wish i had your wallet, heh.
