View Full Version : 2011-2012 NFL Season

It's time to discuss the CBA, the Draft and the league as a whole.
We've got roughly 3.5 weeks before the current CBA runs out. I never really liked Goodell but the NFLPA guy Maurice Stovall seems like an Ignorant asshole.
Will there even BE an NFL season next year? Will Rex Ryan lose another 40lbs? Will the Niners make the playoffs? Can Geico really save me 15% or more in 15 minutes?

I dont know, but my chargers fucked up last year. every player they let go, had a chance to get a ring. im hoping for more consistency, but ive been hoping for that since the days of ryan leaf and doug flutie..so ya hasnt been answered yet!!! ill just have to wait and see how the year will play out.
any bets? i wanna say the raider over charger win streak ends this year, i really dont see raiders winning another game on us, but thats just my opinion.....
draft wise i really think we need to beef up our team in general because gates aint always gonna be there for us every single time, teams will learn to shut him down, its already been done. forget the offense wins games/defense wins games mentally a win is a win.

Will the Niners make the playoffs?
Can Geico really save me 15% or more in 15 minutes?
I hope they can work everything out and start the season on time.
Nah, Rex will probably gain weight
I'd actually like to see the niners make the playoffs
Never dealt with Geico, but 15% in 15 minutes doesn't sound bad at all
GO SKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!

God I hope they figure this shit all out. If they don't have a season next year it would be a shame.
So who thinks that the Packers are the next dynasty. I mean we are the second youngest team in the league and we will more then likely keep the team together for a while. Plus, we will have Finley back next year as well as Grant which then hopefully Starks and Grant can be an awesome 1-2 punch in the back field opening things up for Rogders even more. Our team just has so much talent. Hell, even against the best defense in the league we com out on top and we didn't even play that well. I'm hoping to be more consistent next year.

Other than the Niners, my favorite team is the Chargers, so I feel your pain.
The problem with the Charger's isn't their playing ability. It's the unmeasurables.
Their front office created a divide in the team and put a chink in their morale with the way they dealt with McNeil and Vincent Jackson.
I think that if McNeil and VJ were dealt with more quickly and appropriately that the Chargers as a whole would have been able to play MUCH more consistently.
(This is completely overlooking the fact that they had 4 blocked FG's/Punts. 5 if you count the 1 yard blocked punt in game 7 or whatever it was.)

I think they've got great potential to become a dynasty for this decade. At the very least they are going to be extremely dangerous playoff opponents for many years to come, provided they're able to stay healthy.

I have to believe that this year was a fluke. I mean most teams don't suffer the amount of injuries we did in two seasons.
But what really is amazing is the depth. That we had guys to back'em up and they were able to play at a Super Bowl level.
Obviously I'm still hyped up and in my mind right now we can't lose. lol.

Well, since the Lockout is apparently over and teams are cutting/signing players with reckless abandon in short preparation for the forthcoming season, why not strike up the 2011-2012 NFL season thread?
Don’t expect a terrible drowning of input in this thread from me, I am only enough of a fan to watch the games, and my favorite team happens to SUCK.
That said, I don’t spend much time analyzing it as some of you may, but this thread should exist if we have an NBA thread in the middle of a lockout, then we can have an NFL one just at the end of one.
and with that…
discuss!

That seems to be what's going to happen, but with how much our cap we have left to spend I wouldn't be surprised if we locked him long term and saved ourselves a little bit of money and get some security at the #1 WR.
The defense is shaping up to be scary up the middle as well since Eric Weddle just resigned this morning. Going to have Antonio Garay, Corey Liuget, Takeo Spikes, (hopefully)Kevin Burnett, Weddle, and Bob Sanders. Try running directly into that.
Daniel.
07-27-2011, 11:48 AM
Yes, it's going to be a beastly middle defense for sure. Man I'm almost about to give up on my NIners. They should somehow just try and steal Patrick Willis while they're at it.
Anyone else remember how Spikes and Willis defended the middle while both wearing casts last December?

I hate the NFL with a passion, all it is, is a bunch of overpaid bitchy athletes, and greedy as shit owners! I also think it is ridiculous that these lazy asses cant play another game in the season, but i guess its very strenuous to run hard for 15 seconds then stand for 2 minutes.
But I cant wait for September 3rd though! College ball is where its at!

According to FoxSports/MSN this morning, they’re making a play for Reggie Bush, contingent upon him signing a different deal with them.
Granted, he hasn’t been as great as we were promised over the course of his career, but who knows what might happen

40 FUCKING Mill for weddle. Wow. Just Wow.
It's not ideal but it needed to happen. The FA market is slim pickens and 8 teams were driving for him and 3 teams were very serious, even offering him more money than the Chargers did. I'm fine with the overspending though because it keeps a good solid player, and keeps secondary continuity. We should have a little bit more pass rush this year, and with Bo Sanders on the other side of him some more room to make plays and not coach the secondary mid-game.
Next year more big name safeties contracts will be up and the 40 mil will easily be overshadowed.

He wasnt really that effective last year so whatever. He's basically taking reggie bush's spot with a smaller and slower frame. They'll use him well in NO though, since their coach isnt a moron...
The plus side for charger fans is that now we dont have to deal with Norv drawing up dumb ass plays with sproles running up the middle...which we all know he cant do.

Man the Pack looked SERIOUS in the first half. Our defense isn't firing on all cylinders yet, but we'll get into a groove. Even though the Saints are a high scoring team there was plenty of sloppiness on that side of the ball for us. Rodgers though...geez.

They blew it and it pissed me off. They were up 24-10 in 4th. Jets scored to get it to 24-17, then Jets blocked a punt for TD to tie it.
Cowboys get the ball around there own 40 after a strip-sack. Romo proceeds to throw it to double covered Bryant (that couldn't run due to cramps all night) directly to Revis who gets the INT. Defense holds them there, but they kicked the FG from 50+ with 30 seconds to go.

But in other news, who ever got fucking Brady in their Fantasy Team is having a fucking ball right now. Over 500 yrds passing with 4 TDs and there's still 4 mins left in the game. Wes Walker just went for a 99 yrd catch and run. How the fuck a tiny lil fuck like Wes Walker stiff arm you is beyond my imagination. And with that strike of bitch-madeness, don’t be shocked if the Lions return to being the Lions and go 0-10 for the remainder of the season.
Also, it is increasingly difficult to dislike Tom Brady when he does things like he did when he led that drive at the end of the game yesterday. Perhaps I dislike the Cowboys as an organization just that much, but I was impressed.

I love how this scuffle is building up to possibly be a great post season storyline. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT. (P.S. Niners in the playoffs!? FInally!!!)
WIthout a doubt, Tom Brady deserves recognition. The man is a clearly going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Not many QB's could have orchestrated a drive like that.

That was pretty bad ass by Brady.
Rodgers is finally starting to get the recognition he deserves.
The Packers aren't even playing their best ball yet. Being undefeated though makes me nervous. I'd love to see them go undefeated and win the Super Bowl. That would be the ultimate, most awesome shit ever for Packer fans.
The problem people are having with the Pack is they can't outscore us. Hell we didn't even play the second half of the game and still won by 21 points. People have been very critical about the Packers second half performance. It's still a W though.
Daniel.

So Campbell is out for the Raiders, and now we get Palmer. I hope it works out so far Palmer has around 4 days to learn the offense which I don't think he will be able to manage but with a little bit of help from McFadden we might be able to pull it off against the Chiefs. GO RAIDERS!!!!

If he get's rushed or flushed, he's just going to run it, he doesn't have the patience to sit in the pocket and throw.
He's like Michael Vick from 10 years ago, but with less talent.

I hope Tebow does well for 2 reasons.
1. I have him starting for me this week since Brady is on a bye. lol
2. So that everyone can shut the fuck up already and leave the guy alone. I mean seriously, it's just out of hand. "Oh his throwing motion isn't perfect" "his footwork is blah blah blah" and so on. He is the most overly critiqued player in the league and for no reason. How many FULL games has he had for anyone to REALLY make a legitimate assessment on his ability to lead a team? None. At least give the guy a chance to blow it before you say he can't win....
How many years has Romo been a starter and been HABITUALLY fucking up and yet he's still in the elite level qb talks?...How did Rex Grossman even get an opportunity to start on another team (granted, he just lost that job)......Oh and Mark Sanchez...well, you fill in the rest....I could go on with these forever.
My point is, there's A LOT of qb's in the league that have BEEN starting that haven't had spectacular numbers and are pretty shitty when you really look at it and yet Tebow hasnt even had an opportunity to fail and he's already in the dog house. Get real...

My issue is blind fans who lavish the dude with praise for what has been LITERALLY nothing. I mean, seriously you even said it yourself:

If people can jump the gun in speak of how amazing he is in an adult league, based solely on his performances playing against children then criticisms based upon simply being tired of hearing it is valid to me.
Keep in mind, I just don't like the guy because of overzealous fans so I am fine with letting whatever happens happen.

You can get tickets at face value pretty easily. If you go to a game you can ALWAYS buy tickets right at the game. I've been to dozens of games over the years and there is always people selling them outside the stadium and they have to sell them at face value.
If you've never been to Lambeau field for a game I highly recommend you do so at some point. The experience is amazing. The first time you walk up to that stadium is electrifying.

You are 100% incorrect dispite what every Dolphin fan knows about this whole team being bad in every position. Everyone in the NFL would jump at the chace to sign all these overpaid and overrated scrubs. Sean Smith is seen as a great up and coming CB yet for the past few years I have seen him on this roster, all he does is drop interceptions. Carlos Dansby, Barnett, Bush, Marshall aka "Monster" all suck yet people around the NFL say they are all good. For godsakes, we have the worst pass defense in the league and these analysts and coaches still crown them as a great defense. Trust me, if Ross decides to trade away these scrubs in the offseason he will get a good return compared to what we have now.
Daniel.

Yeah, but after seeing the grabs by Driver and Nelson on the last drive before the half, you have to wonder if Rogers deserves all of the credit he receives!?! Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great QB, but how would he look if you popped him in at the QB position on like the Bears? Given the Bears shit O-line and their receivers who drop the ball when you hit them in the #'s... I don't think Rogers would have them at any better of a record than the 4 and 3 they are now.

Really? I disagree. His accuracy is incredible. Yes, he has probably the best weapons in the league, but he puts the ball exactly where it needs to be. His accuracy when on the run out of the pocket is insane. His athleticism is nuts. Dude is the shit.

Yeah, because I see Cutler make the same throws and on the run also... but the Bear's receivers just are not capable of making the catches... let alone even run a good route to allow him to get the ball to them. I see balls thrown all of the time during a Bears game that are dropped or the receiver didn't lay out for it. I can't help but think to myself: if that would of been Jennings, Megatron, Nelson, Fitz etc. it would of been caught.
If you think off all the great QB's, they have at least a great receiver, if not three like the Pack, to go along with him... and most likely a good O-line to-boot. So you have to wonder if the QB makes the team or the team makes the QB?

Our receiving core is drastically underrated for sure.
Oh it's definitely a team effort. Our receiving core is by far the best in the league. But if you look at the the dropped passes he's had, it's almost always the receivers fault, just plain dropping the passes.
I don't think it's even right to compare what Rodgers is doing in GB and what Cutler is doing in Chi. I mean look at the confidence between the two. No offense but going back to the play-off game last year just sums up the character of Cutler. He just quit. Rodgers is special. Having said that, if McFadden was in the game, a pair of those Bush runs would of been 6 pts due to his speed alone. Great game all together for the Raiders.

I think it's pretty lame how the media wants Tebow to fail SOOO BAD and yet when he doesn't and they cant figure out why, they stoop to making fun of his religion and mocking the fact that he kneels and prays. A good article on Tebow.
Tebow believes in miracles, and maybe he (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Tebow-believes-in-miracles-and-maybe-he-8217-s?urn=nfl-wp12079)
At this point, even the most extreme doubters have to be impressed. Or, at the very least, willing to come off their perches for a second to take another look at the Tim Tebow(notes) phenomenon as more of a football matter and less a referendum on religion, politics, spirituality, and whether the 'good guys' really do win.
When Tebow led his Denver Broncos to an improbable 17-13 win over the New York Jets on Thursday night in the Mile High City, the syntax finally felt right. People have been far too quick to attribute too much or too little credit to Tebow for the Broncos' recent success based on their own feelings for the hype, but it was Tebow who set the Broncos on course for a game-winning 95-yard drive. It was also Tebow who ran for a 20-yard touchdown when the Jets went against type and blitzed a quarterback they had to know was probably going to run.
Basically, Tebow proved that he is a matchup problem — just not in the traditional way you'd expect of an NFL quarterback. On the 12-play sojourn that ended with 1:06 left in the game, Tebow ran the ball six times for a total of 57 yards. You can know what he's going to do, and what he's going to do can't be stopped consistently — that's been proven. For Tebow, as you'd expect, the message after the game was more than about the game.
"It is very exciting and we're excited about the wins that we've been able to put together," he told the NFL Network after the game. "I love it and I care about it. But the greatest thing with this sport and with the NFL is we have such a platform, and we can take that platform and we can influence the next generation. That is honestly my passion. This week we got to announce that I was building a hospital in the Philippines. This game means a lot but that hospital means more to me because that's changing peoples' lives. That's giving people faith, hope and love, and that's more important.
"My ultimate goal with this, with playing football, is to be a great role model that a parent can look at their son and say, 'That's someone that is trying to do it the right way; he's not perfect but everyday he's trying to get better, he's trying to honor God, do the right thing, do what's right and do his best.'"
Some will certainly cringe, more at what the media has made of the Tebow Brand than anything the man himself says, but in a football sense, the second-year quarterback hit on an important point. He's not perfect, but there are ways in which he's able to make things work. Tebow said after the game that that last drive was less about matchups, though - -he's a firm believer in the intangibles of the game, especially when they matter most. "We got in the huddle and we just said that this is an opportunity where great things can happen, and let's be great right now. That was our focus and everybody believed, and we went out there and we achieved it. But it was because of our faith, and our relentlessness. We're just going to keep fighting."
It's been said that with the way he plays, Tebow has managed to prove everyone right who has an opinion of him. The detractors will say that he has very limited ability at the quarterback position, especially when you consider what's generally required at the NFL level. And in completing just nine passes in 20 attempts for 104 yards, he showed once again that he's not near where he needs to be as a pure passer.
However, the true believers -- and this is where they seem to have a point — will tell you that the kid will find a way to win, no matter what. The Broncos are 4-1 under Tebow, and though it took some ridiculous red zone defensive concepts in Miami and a busted assignment on a blitz against the Jets for it to happen, Tebow has indeed proven the ability to rise to the occasion.
Winning ugly? The Broncos will take it.
"I've said it before: I trust him," rookie endbacker Von Miller said. "I trust him with everything. No matter how many interceptions he throws, no matter how many touchdowns he throws, that's Tim Tebow. I'm going to ride with him until the end.
"I hope he shut up a whole bunch of critics today."
At the very least, Tebow certainly extended the argument.

One thing that I will note that bothers me with this Tebow situation, what is it with criticis/analysts stating he's not an NFL level QB? I mean, the guys is CLEARLY winning games for the Broncos, i think that's NFL level. Wether your simply a pocket passer, scrambler, short gain passer, it doesn't matter. If you could win in the NFL, your obviously NFL level. They dont need to hate on the guy just because he's not your typical Brady/Brees/Rodgers QB. Division rival or not, Broncos have something that seems to be working, commend them for that. And Tebow's got a great ability to not get bothered by all the BS, cool dude in my book.

The problem with the type of offense the Broncos are playing is that it's not sustainable. Their offense was shutdown for 95% of the game. Once teams really figure out how to stop them, it's over.
Just look at the Dolphins and their proliferation of the Wildcat offense a few years back. It won them some games, but once teams figured it out, they got shut down.
I agree that Tebow is an athlete at the NFL level, and that he doesn't fit the typical mold for what an NFL level quarterback should be, but he's not exactly going to equate to a long term 10 year solution for a football franchise.
P.S. No one is knocking the guy personally. He's actually a really great role model outside of football. Just read the article I posted.

I understand that it seems unsustainable now because it's not the norm. As long as they win, I see them sticking with that game plan which is a smart move. Why try something different and force him to be a passer? They know he's going to tuck and run the majority of the time. Defenses know what he's going to do, but it's hard to stop him all the time and like yesterday showed, 95% of the time wasn't enough.
Him being a 10 year solution to a franchise does not seem smart at the moment, but i think at the end of the season, there would be more evidence to truly asses what he can do for them in the long run. There's no telling what this guy could do in the second half of the season.
Yea, I read the article. Cool dude, my hats off to the guy for what he's doing off the field.

Yea, I read the article. Cool dude, my hats off to the guy for what he's doing off the field.
No one is trying to force him to be different. Jon Fox is quoted as saying that if Tim were in a regular NFL passing offense he'd be screwed. Fox scrapped half of his playbook when Tebow started. No one is forcing him to be a pocket passer. What they're saying is that for long term success, Tebow will need to develop NFL caliber passing skills which he clearly doesn't have.
I'd like to reiterate my previous point, that at this point in the season most other teams are not well prepared to deal with the Broncos type of offense. Defenses haven't got enough plays in the book, and havent dedicated enough time throughout the season to be effective against the run/option 100% of the time.
The end of the season, and next season will tell a different story. Case in point is this article on the Wildcat offense. Wildcat formation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wildcat_formation). Scroll down and read the section where the Patriots stuffed the Dolphins on their second divisional game.
What happened with the Wildcat is exactly what's happening with Tebow right now.
I sense that what you're arguing here is that there is a place in the current NFL passing paradigm to accommodate a Tebow offense and that it could shift our current paradigm in that direction permanently. I agree with the first part in that there is a place for it, but not for long. The second part, I completely disagree with. It's going to take a lot more to change NFL offenses as they are today than just one talented athlete.

I got to thinking about this whole Tim Tebow thing. I never really got to see many of his games since the Denver games are never televised in my area, but obviously got my first good view of him when they played my Bears team on Sunday. He's not good, plain and simple. Sure, he comes back in the 4th quarter, but here's my take on that... especially after seeing him against the Bears. The Bears defense absolutely shut him down for three quarters.... 30 some passing percentage, zero points. Then like most teams with the lead, they went into a prevent defense in the 4th. Which this is why I believe his passing percentage is so much better in the 4th quarter. They are always behind and the opposing teams go into prevent defense... which I never understood. The Bears D was destroying him all game... why not continue to do what has worked all game??? So the Bears allowed him to complete the garbage plays, easy passes down the middle of the field all of the 4th quarter. He finally capitalized on the Bears with 2 minutes left when a coverage was blown... that's fine, it happens. Cudos to him for picking that up. Bears recover the onside kick and they simply needed to run the clock out for the easy win. For some reason, that no one can explain, Marion Barber decides to run out of bounce. It would of been game over with Denver having no timeouts. So there is no way I can give Tebow credit for this win... the Bears(I mean Barber) literally handed him an early Christmas present. Not to mention the fact that this game would of been a blowout with Cutler and Forte on the offense. I'm so pissed right now!

In the playoffs, they will see New England, Pittsburgh and/or Baltimore (and to a Lesser extent) the Texans, all of whom play defense that might make that dude cry and the first two with offenses that will make the comeback nigh impossible, as 30 points is nothing to them. Denver plays New England on Sunday and their only real saving grace is that it is in Denver.

I mean, if your tram goes from decent to garbage because of two players being out, then you weren't that good to begin with. Look at the Colts. Going out of bounds to stop the clock when Denver had no timeouts and the fumble were game changers.

I’d love to see them try that shit against the “decapitate em Sunday and pay the fines Tuesday” Steelers, or to try their hand at coming back from 40+ down against the Patriots, personally. THEN we will realize that they’ve eeked out wins against the likes of the Dolphins (fired coach), Chiefs (likewise), Chargers (will be next, lol), Vikings, Jets and Bears and handled the Raiders.
After being impaled by the Lions when people still thought they were good, they had the schedule you WANT a QB like Tebow to have to endure, if only for momentum and confidence, lol

Whether you like him or not, the guy wins games. Granted, this last one was more about the Bears losing it than him actually winning it. BUT again, he doesn't turn the ball over and he capitalizes on the mistakes the other teams makes. Yeah he plays shitty sometimes, but there's no denying that the dude is money under pressure. I don't think he'll win against the Pats, but given the amount of scrutiny he's been under and the amount of success he's had, i can't help but support the guy
Considering how much shit everybody talked about him NEVER being able to be an NFL quarterback, i'd say he's doing a pretty damn good job. The thing people keep forgetting is that all of his "flaws" are totally correctable. Give him time.

No, not denying that he has not been rattled under pressure and pulled his team through in situations that most others would not have. My only doubts are the people crowning him as that next big thing without considering the competition he has actually faced. It will be a different ballgame when he faces better defenses and competent coaches. I don’t dislike the guy just to be disliking him, I dislike the fans of his totally unwilling to be objective about him. I never said he wouldn’t be an NFL quarterback, I have only doubted whether these recue tricks and hero ball would work in the playoffs or even against a playoff caliber team, and I still contend that it won’t.

Really, because they were scoring 32 points per game before Cutler went out and now 10 points per game without him in there. On top of that, the 3 teams that they are scoring 10 points per game on are not good teams. If Cutler was still in there they would be 10-3... easily. They almost won all three of the last games with a horrible QB. If you actually watched the Bears play you would realize how important Cutler is to the team. He has no receivers and no line. He makes shit happen when it's improbable. You are bashing on a team that you are uneducated on.... yep, typical Packers fan.

I never said he wouldn’t be an NFL quarterback, I have only doubted whether these recue tricks and hero ball would work in the playoffs or even against a playoff caliber team, and I still contend that it won’t.
Agreed.

I actually watch almost every Bears game.

Well then you should be smart enough to know that if you put Caleb Hanie in place of your beloved Aaron Rogers, you would probably lose almost every game! One player DOES make the difference when it's your QB.... he touches the ball every single offensive snap. I'm pretty sure the Colts and Bears prove that point.... both easy playoff teams with their starting QB, can't win a game without them.

I realize the QB is the biggest factor...I'm saying Cutler wasn't that good to begin with. He just isn't on the level of Brady, Manning, Rodgers, etc. The Bears may be a play-off team with him, but they aren't a Super Bowl contender. I think he's capable of winning (more then any of the dozen or more QB's you guys have had in the last like 10 years), but he's not an elite QB.
Now I'm not sayin the Packers couldn't lose to the Bears just as easy. A division game against the Bears is always a challenge.

And honestly, they weren't all that good with Cutler (they still suck), but really they aren't all that good.

LOL, so wait a minute... they suck with Cutler, or they could be a playoff team and beat your Packers?
I take it you're a stats guy!?! Do you really think Rogers would do any better with the line and receivers that Cutler has? Really, do think he could. Because I'm pretty sure whether it's Cutler hitting a Bears receiver in the numbers and him dropping it would be the same outcome as Rogers hitting a Bears receiver in the numbers and him dropping it. What Cutler has done, given what he has to work with, is actually pretty damn impressive.
One other thing... can you name an "elite" quarter back that doesn't have an elite receiver or at least a legitimate #1 tiered receiver? We won't even talk about having multiple elite receivers... Green Bay *** cough *** Packers:)

I'm not really a stats only guy. Rodgers has a presence, a cool, a confidence about him that Cutler never will.
I think the bigger story here is not so much QB VS QB it's more the fact that the Packers just have an outstanding, talented, and DEEP football team.

You'll never see Rodgers, Favre, Manning, etc on the sidelines with that kind of demeanor during a play-off game after they get injured. The Bears needed their leader mentally, not just physically.

apparently you havent seen matt flynn (our back up) play. even HE wrecks shit. sure, a QB can make a team, just as a team can make a QB. however, the packers are an elite TEAM with an elite QB. we having amazing WR's, linebackers, linemen, safeties, and cornerbacks. even our kickers are amazing.
the packers right now are just a team full of amazing players, and i couldn't be more proud of my team.

I know for sure that Rogers or Brady would never act like a petulant child on the sidelines the way Cutler has, historically. Anyone remember when the Bears played the Eagles in '09 and McNabb had to talk to him to calm him down?
I know for a fact that players like Peyton Manning, Rogers and Brady who are a cut above the rest, elevate those around them. They're one of the rare types of athletes/leaders that just make everyone on the team BETTER.
You don't need to be a player on the Bears to see these things man. It's obvious.

Really, because did you see the expressions on Peyton Manning's face last year when they were losing in the playoffs? It was some ugly stuff.... he was pouting pretty badly. He doesn't exactly have a happy look on his face anyway:
Manning Face (http://www.manningface.com/)
Anyway, who gives a shit what a guy looks like on the sideline. If he plays hard and is a leader to his teammates, as told by his teammates, then that is all I care about. Help his team win games, that's all you can ask. Do you guys happen to listen to Bears AM sports radio everyday throughout the day? I do, and you can learn a hell of a lot more about the individual players and team than what you see on FOX sports etc. If you want to believe everything you see on TV then go right ahead... I prefer to hear more of the truth. And before you say: but yeah, Bears sports talk radio is biased... it's actually the opposite. The AM radio personalities are the Bears toughest critics. Anyway, carry on. I have better stuff to do... like play the new BF3 maps:D

Expressions are NOT indicative of overall behavior and personality. Especially in this case. Manning's expressions are ridiculous at times, but he doesn't act like a child. He doesn't throw fits.
Moreover, he's a leader and proven winner (How many times has Manning won the MVP award, and doesn't he have a championship?). Even the best of us get frustrated at times. It's how you rise above it that sets you apart. I can't say the same about Cutler. he seems to always have a stick up his ass.
I wholeheartedly disagree that sideline behavior isn't important. As a Quarterback instilling confidence and leadership are absolute requirements to being great. It's what separates the good from the great. If Cutler had those intangibles, who knows what the Bears would be capable of?
And what about Brady and Rogers? You totally ignored them. They are also proven winners, who've demonstrated leadership and an ability to inspire their fellow teammates without all the funny faces.

I feel like it's beating a dead horse with you guys. So you see Cutler on TV and that's how you base what kind of person he is? Why not ask his teammates if he instills confidence and leadership? I mean really, you are just going to go by what you see him doing on the sideline? I am going to take myself as a very good example: People always think that I look like I'm in a bad mood. That's just my standard expression. However, I don't know that I have ever been in a bad mood. I have a really good life, wife, job, kids, house, family, dogs, employees etc. etc. I'm really laid back and always up for whatever. If you can find someone that knows Cutler and says that he's a bad leader then I will give you some credit.

Yeah, it's just beating a dead horse. Just saying though, I don't think there is a single NFL expert that would put Cutler in the same category as Rodgers. I would be willing to bet that most of the Bears players don't think he's in the same category. If they had a anonymous poll and asked them if they'd rather have Cutler as their QB or Rodgers, most I would assume would take Rodgers. If they were being honest with themselves. I mean maybe some would say Cutler, but it would be them being biased, which I guess you can't fault them for either.

I'm not comparing Rogers to Cutler.... Rogers is a great QB on HIS team. Would he have the numbers that he does if he were the Bears QB? No! Would he have a ring under his belt if he were the Bears QB? No! So if you define an elite QB by rings, playoffs, wins, stats and all of that other crap, then you have to take into account the talent that's around him. My whole point to all of this is not that all of those other QB's aren't great, but you have to factor in what they have around them. Without the other pieces they wouldn't have the #'s. It's hard to evaluate Cutler's potential without having any pieces on offense... that's all I'm trying to say.
Daniel.

I agree with you on this, but again you're forgetting that some QB's elevate those around them, and push them to excel.
As for the other topic....
Yes, I'm judging EVERY SINGLE PLAYER by the only means that I have available to me. Through mainstream media. That includes radio, TV, and print and web publications.
It's unrealistic to expect any normal person to to have access to a famous athletes. You can't tell me that I can't judge Cutler's leadership (or any other player in professional sports) without talking to his teammates. By that standard neither you nor 60% of the media have any right to judge ANYONE in pro sports.
Most of those pro sports analysts don't even talk directly to any players, yet they still are able to make rational and reasonable evaluations of them.
You and I should be able to do the same.
P.S. Cutler is a little douchebag pussy, who'll never be more than average, his leadership sucks, and his playing is uninspiring.

IIRC, Chargers are out. They'd have a 3 way tie in overall standings and the divisional record, but after that I think it'd be based on non conference wins and they're dead last in the division in that respect. But i could be wrong...
EDIT: Yeah they're out. It'd be based on common games and the Chargers don't own any tie breakers. The AFC west is between Denver and Oakland.
