Well I've been a lurker here for a while but I figured I'd finally make an intro and build thread of sorts.
Here's some past projects that have any significance (there's been plenty more lol)...
Circa 2003, my 93 Civic hb. Made 582whp and ran a best of 11.88 @ 133 on drag radials.

Circa 2005, my 91 S13. Made 519whp and ran a best of 11.30 @ 129 on drag radials. Stock VG30dett swap with a custom single T61 setup I built. Fully shaved/tucked bay with 90 degree brake setup under the dash.

2007-2010, my S2000. Never dyno'd but estimated around 475whp. Ran a best of 12.05 @ 122 stock motor on e85 w/ my own custom turbo setup.

And now the S14 that I bought last year off of a friend. It already had a stock S14 SR swap in it and I somehow managed to get the car to run a 12.54 @ 112 on Fuzion 205/50/16 tires.

So far all I've done is ditched the pillar gauge mount and oil pressure gauge, moved the boost gauge, ditched the big muffler and re-ran the wiring harness a little. Oh and blew off an i/c pipe getting on the highway the other day lol!
Probly won't do much for a little while but luckily it's a blast like it is right now!

Well got tired of looking at the greenish grey floormats that didn't match anything in the interior.
They were in great shape just ugly...

Finally some real mods are starting to come in for this thing, well some of them are real mods
Brand new radio trim piece, old one was all busted. Pretty common on these cars...
http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/2503/1012982.jpg
AEM analog wideband. Wanted one of these ever since I seen them come out. Love it! The 'factory tune' is pretty 'interesting' on this car...
http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/6710/1012984s.jpg
Stance GR+ coilovers. First set of coilovers I've bought that weren't Teins. They just didn't have what I was after for this car without spending alot of money.
http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/5030/1012990l.jpg
Spring rates are 8k front 6k rear
http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/4958/1012992g.jpg
http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/9064/1012994.jpg
Mmmmm inverted mono tube....
http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/5218/1012995.jpg
And couldn't get away without more ricer mods. Red LEDs for the gauge cluster, HVAC and dome light.
http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/5558/1013009.jpg
Also not pictured, the new intercooler setup I am building for this car. I'll post pics when I get going on that hopefully this weekend. The funny thing is the intercooler is about half the size of whats on there :?

Got the suspension on last night and all I can say is I freaking love it! Drove to Dayton today and the ride quality was perfect! Feels like a real car now lol!
Got most of the intercooler setup done tonight. The whole idea was to tuck the i/c up by the radiator, but not blocking it completely, and run as short of piping as possible. And I'm going to run a OEM fan and shroud which will pull air through both the i/c and radiator constantly.
Hoping to get a little more response out of this too but not sure how much earlier the spool can get. Did a baseline pull from 2k rpm in 3rd and on low boost it would hit peak boost at 3200rpm lol. So we'll see how that goes when it's all done.
Anyways, here's some pics...

Well got some more suspension goodies and finally got some tires from a tire store that would let me run them stretched lol.
Went with Circuit Sports stuff...

Went with the same tires I had on the S2000 since they grip decent and have a nice sidewall for clearance. They are Sumitomo HTR Z III's 225/40/18 & 245/40/18. Wheels are 18x9.5 +12 & 18/10.5 +15...

Well it's that time of year again so I decided to jump headfirst into some wiring just like last year. My main goal was to get the big honkin' fusebox out of the engine bay and out of site. Mainly because I'm going to need the room to clearance something (to be shown later). I also redid/cleaned up the whole engine harness a couple weeks ago but didn't take any pics.
Crappy pics but here's the engine harness loomed with expandable braided sleeving and heat shrink. LOTS of depinning/repinning plugs, fun stuff!

Turns out my front fenders weren't what was rubbing up front. Note the polished sections of the inner fender and upper frame rail  The price of being low lol!

I know it seem retarded doing just the front half of the inner fenders but with the way the caster works the room is need up front but not in the back.

I'm pretty amazed at how sturdy this is already just tacked up. I was worried about using 22 gauge, thought it'd be too thin.

Something a little different, ever seen heat shrink hose clamps? I've always seen these in Jegs catalogs and was always curious about them. Did some research a couple months back and stumbled on a vid that made me feel like I had to try them...

Got some more stuff in today. Ordered from Pit Stop USA | Your Auto Racing Parts Superstore - Racing Parts/ Racing Suit & Helmets (http://www.PitStopUSA.com) Tuesday night and had a box on my porch when I got home at 3:00 today so thumbs up to them!
They were the ONLY place on the net that I could find that sells weld-in monoball/heim joint carriers.
Here's what's going on up front...
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/9162/001xwr.jpg
Going to fiddle with the spacing once everything is back together and dial out bump steer at the same time
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/6332/1013376t.jpg
Here's the goods...
http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/9206/1013377.jpg
Basically the idea is to lower the ball joint pivot point down to gain back some of the suspension geometry or 'roll center'. In other words, when you lower a car the lower control arms angle up giving up leverage causing the car to roll easier, this is what I like to call "unlowering" my car. :)
Some reassembly going on...
http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/6957/1013384.jpg

Busted some ass and did some work tonight!
First this stuff was waiting for me when I got home from work...
flywheel insert for the Fidanza I got off of Cole since he killed it good, urethane steering rack bushings, brake line 'P' clips and Summit hooked it up with a Schick razor for my purchase. They must know I hardly shave
http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/7844/1013387.jpg
Nissan S14 SR20 fan shroud and radiator hoses...
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/9818/1013390.jpg
And a Mishimoto radiator. I always swore I'd never buy anything with a stupid name like that but they have a good reputation, are cheap, and have an awesome warranty program! Quality looks great for the price too!
http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/9485/1013392.jpg
So after playing with all that stuff I got to work. Put the flywheel insert in and tq'd it, put the flywheel on and tq'd it, sanded the glaze off of the clutch disc and pp (Spec Stage 2 that was already in the car) and installed/tq'd it and then put the tranny back on the motor after cleaning and regreasing the necessary areas.
Then I loaded it up in the truck, went to Advance Auto to pick up some brake parts cleaner and headed to the car wash to hose everything down.
Then got home, unloaded it with the hoist. Put on the crossmembers and slid it under the car. After some fun I got it up in there, first time I've ever put a motor in from the bottom lol!
Damn I'm tired.

Well after some serious thinking I couldn't come up with a good place to put a power steering reservoir with tubs, i/c pipe, air filter and fan shroud in the way. So staring at the empty hole where the a/c compressor would normally sit I said screw it, I'm moving the p/s pump down there and putting the reservoir above it!
My little Hobart champed it up on this stuff!

Ran outta mig wire again so that's where I stopped for the night. The horizontal alignment is perfect but the vertical is a hair off, nothing that can't be easily fixed by offsetting one of the mount holes a little. Just gotta make up something for the tensioner bracket and figure out the belt size and it'll be done.

No problem, been asked that a couple times. I guess they look more 'finished' in person. I left them like that because I plan on putting an oil cooler on the pass. side at some point and wanted to use that as sort of a debris guard from the tires. Hope that makes sense lol.

This part is going to be tricky. It's hard to tell in the pics but the filler piece that I have left to do has two totally different angles to jive up with. I'll figure it out once I get some more metal...

Couple of questions/ constructive criticism:
First of all, that filler piece could have easily been made with your "ghetto-break" lol. You could have Z-bent it but at an angle to account for the taper that it makes from front to back. Would have saved you a bunch of welding, but it doesn't seem to be a skill you lack ;). Secondly, are you leaving that extra bit of fender? I assume you are since you undercoated it, but just asking. Looks out of place to me, but to each his own. I don't see if being a problem, just seems like an eye-sore for everything else to be such awesomely done. Third, which seam-sealer did you use? Fourth, OMFG, this thing turned out awesome! lol. Great work, man.

I really like how you seem to like all kinds of cars.
What I like so far is the idea of a motorcycle fender for the tub, also the oem hoses, I am not a fan of the silicone ones, due to them being more prone to leak. Oem hoses are nice, always perfect on fitment.
The license plate on the s2k had me laughing so hard.
what the fuck is torque?

also, you know about using a nissan quest altinator right?
One question about those clamps, say you need to take it off how do you do it? they are one time use right?

Thanks! Yes I do like/appreciate all types of cars. If I had the patience for restoration I'd be building a hot rod lol. The plate was a tricky one to slip by the BMV but I pulled it off for 3 years somehow. And yes the only downside to those clamps is they are a one shot deal. What's the story on the Quest alternator?

Well after a couple tries I finally got the right size p/s belt, it's pretty much the shortest 3 rib belt that stores carry around here. Trying to get this thing on the road soon. Just gotta finish up this front suspension and do some subframe modding in the rear.
Got this from 'george' on Zilvia. It's a spacer/extender for the steering rack. Basically on the 240 the rack uses the inner tie rods as 'stops'. This extends the rack so you can get more travel out of it.
http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/2626/1013462i.jpg
It'll also get me more length on my tie rods for the knuckle mod I'm going to do.

double checked rotor clearance then tack welded the housing in place...

Here's the knuckle mod I've been hinting at. Basically relocating the tie rod portion which will do two things. First, it'll drop my tie rod mounting point to give me a better starting point to dial out bump steer. And second, it 'quickens' the steering ratio and gives a little more steering angle. A poplular mod amongst the drifting crowd
First, cut off and grind down the old steering stop...

The red line is where it used to sit against the body, the green line is where it's going to sit against the body. Approx. 1/2" difference. The red anodized pieces are bushing spacers that basically turn the bushings into solid mounts. The top is C shaped so you don't have to take the whole thing out. This will help correct my geometry (or roll center) in the rear.

Not sure if it's necessary. Once I get some time driving the car I'll decide if it's needed or not.

Because he's pretty busy at the moment unfortunately. Plus I'm trying to get the car done soon. The spacers for the front are pretty simple since I had some stock that is the perfect size.
Got the subframe done and back in tonight. My idea worked great for the rear two bushings as they were in great shape. The front two, however, pulled right apart they were so shot. So I had to come up with a new game plan up there. Luckily I found some perfect thick washers that fit almost dead on. Feel like I am finally over all the big hurdles.

Finally got all the pieces and threw it all together tonight, determined to take a test drive. Probly going to redo the alignment again cause I pretty much rushed it and also skipped checking the bumpsteer. The rear subframe mod added alot of positive camber and the steering rack spacer made it impossible to center up the rack as the inner tie rods are threaded damn near all the way in. Gonna trim one up later on. Also need to make steering stops.

Your engine looks like a turd in that bay now... You need to do something about that. lol It's hard to look at the engine bay in pristine white then see... A dirty engine.

I don't think it's that the engine is dirty... it's just that awful exhaust manifold. I'd get an aftermarket tubular one, or try to hunt down an exhaust shield for the stock one. I've seen plenty of people paint the stock one with high-temp paint as well. even plain black would look LOADS better than what you've got. Now that the engine bay is wrapping up, what's next on this project?

For your front lower ball joint mod did u use 3/4" bolt, or 5/8" with some misalignment spacer/adapters? If you did use 3/4" where did u get the cone spacers that go on either side of the spherical? I found some 3/4 to 5/8 misalignemt spacers, but i think with those they go inside the spherical and step you down to a 5/8 inner diameter so you have to use 5/8 bolt instead.
EDIT: found in the roll center thread that u used 3/4" bolt! so where did you get the cone spacers for top and bottom of spherical? THANKS

Ok, so I decided I needed a way to actually measure camber/caster besides eyeballing it and being the cheap ass I am I decided to make something rather than buying the $150 gauge I really want. Picked up one of these bad boys at Sears for $24.99...
http://www.4x4review.com/Portals/1/article-images/tools/Craftsman-DigLevel-001.JPG
... and rigged it up to measure camber. As for the way I set it up to measure caster I'm not sure I got it right so I just made both sides 'even' lol.
As the car was camber was all over the place. Something like -1.8 LF, -2.5 RF, -4.0 LR, -4.3 RR
So after a shitton of measuring, adjusting, etc... I got it all where I wanted. -2.8 LF/RF, -1.8 LR/RR. Flared the fenders out via small pipe, set the toe (0deg. front....1/8" total toe in rear) and took it for a spin. Man it feels alot better!
Also, debadged the trunk, put manifold heat shield on for the haters :P and put stock fog lights on.
Anyways, everyone loves pics just nevermind the dirt :D

Intake ports aren't full of oil either, nor is the intake manifold. Those invisible oil fumes that are robbing me of horsepower come out on the hot side of the motor. The cold side is to let the gases out but not back in through the pvc system, just running an open line without a check valve in place just dismisses it's design entirely.
But to each his own.

wayne said it goes on the fuel rail, it goes near the fuel rail.. back into the intake manifold, in stock form of course. with the baffles in the valve cover and pcv valve, it should do its purpose just fine.

Had fun getting the car on a 'track' for the first time. Still got some rubbing issues to sort out as you can hear. Couldn't get it to rub much riding solo on 'test' runs but with some weight in the passenger seat it rubs, especially on the last run as I had a bigger passenger.
The track was awesome and easy to figure out, just wish we got some more runs in and it was less windy. Can't wait till the next one!

^thanks man!
Well the fun continues. I decided to get the recirculating fitting for my HKS bov to help driveability and get rid of the throttle lift buck I get when autox'ing. This required me to move the flange back to the drivers side. Well got that accomplished and then somehow fighting the c-clip to put the bov back in place I managed to crack the base of the bov. :x
Somehow I always end up with these HKS ssqv's and always curse them when I have to mess with them. Well rather than taking the easy route and buying a new one I said screw it I'm done.
Picked up this Turbosmart Kompact plumb back bov for a great price...

Quick drive around the block, this thing is pretty quiet and seems to help drivability quite a bit. Gonna miss the random backfires scaring kids though lol!

aren't you using any hose clamps on your radiator hoses? or is that black glossy stuff some kind of "clamp" to keep the hoses from slipping off? i've never seen that before, looks neat!

They're made by Gates, they are basically heat shrink hose clamps. They work awesome and look good doing it lol.

Yes I miss it and have tried to buy it back many times.

Sold it to a long time friend that had to sell his S13 a while back due to medical bills. I promised him dibs if I were to ever sell it and he caught me in a bored/weak moment.

im torn inbetween these two, ive owned a s14 and i loved it, but i always like the s2k esp boosted ones.

That is a very tough question. The S2k was twitchy and scary at the limit (in corners) and the S14 was very easy to maintain when things got loose or close to it....
I could go on for hours but in all honesty, I liked them both about the same.

A fair price we both agreed on.

Lucky you, I just dropped the price. Recheck the thread... :bigok:

Sweet build. I swear I saw that 240 at Raceway Park on the west side back in like April or May of this year. That was before I had mine.
