ok so i think im just an idiot, but i cant seem to find any thread stating how to correctly install the timing chain in an sr20det black top. i think the person that previously installed it put it on wrong.

heres my problem, the links dont line up with the cam sprockets. when the cas was installed the car ran like crap. when we advanced the cas back two teeth it ran well, but my friend had the bright idea of pulling it back out without marking it. so now i cant get the car to run bc the cas is dropped wrong and i cant figure out how to put it back because i think the chain is in wrong.

this is the only thread i found on how to install the cas. but, my problem is that the two black links never seem to line up with the cam sprocket dots so i cant align the orange dot with the nick on the housing.

go here... R.S. Enthalpy: Nissan ROM Tunes, ECU Reflashes and Dyno Tuning. Tampa Bay, Florida. (http://www.rs-enthalpy.com/info.html) scroll down to SR Camshaft Alignment Procedure

forget about the links and the dots on the sprokets.

the notches wont line up until you do around 20-24 full revolution on the chain.
follow what's on frsport.com and keep turning the crank until it lines up.
pull out all the spark plugs to make it easier to turn.
