Alright replaced the thermostat and that did nothing.Noticed it over heats randomly for some reason whether i'm driving or not.The hoses only pressurize when its parked and running.Thats when it begins to rise in temp and over heat. The electric fan also does not work but wouldn't think that'd make a difference if its under thirty right now.Really annoying at the moment, can anyone help out?I'm driving a s14 KA by the way

did you bleed air out of coling system, when you refilled radiator?

Yes but its hard to kepp anything in the radiator burns out the liquid, thats why its steaming so bad

I let it get hot drive it around the block, steam goes away and car cools down.Park it, steam comes back temp rises again...

let i cool down enough first.Fill radiator whit engine cold. Dont want you to warp head.If Try to fill it when hot and your asking for trouble , hot coolant/water will splash in your face also you can damage your cyl head.Cold fill and vent air from bleeder bolt untill you get all the air out system .Cap the radiator fill your reservoir and check to see if it temp runs normal....

Electrical fans or clutch fan? sounds like no air flow fans not coming on or bad fan clutch..

I've already done that, still heats up and boils in the over flow tank and sounds like a train horn.

Electric fan but it randomly stopped working, it would effect it that bad even though its cold outside?

:duh:
have you looked in the oil to see if you have a blown head gasket? it will look milky with a blown head gasket...when you are bleeding the system are you seeing little bubbles coming up in the radiator fill? that would also indicate a blown head gasket...
another thing that concerns me is that if you have micro cracks in the block, you could be using coolent that way, but if you are overheating quick i doubt this, if you were saying "i fill the coolent, and drive it, and then its down on coolent and overheating and i everything is working and my head gasket isnt blown" then id say you have micro cracks in the passages in the block...so i dont think this is the case, but ill add it anyway incase someone searches down the road for over heating info...
MORE IMPORTANTLY, if you are running an e fan, do you still have a belt on your water pump? is your water pump working?
i dont try to fill through the reservoir, i fill through the rad cap, then you can see it burping out air and check for tiny bubbles...
plus it helps shaking the car to work air bubbles out of the system, i didnt believe it the first time i heard that, but i tried it and it helps...there are a lot of spots in the ka system where air gets trapped...
i highly doubt the car is overheating because it doesnt have enough coolent in it right away from start up, you should be able to fill the system up before it warms up, then when the thermostat opens fill it the rest of the way up...i think something else is wrong...

It will have little bubbles at first then kinda explode the fluid out lol but my car worked fine 2 week ago no problems, the pump should work considering there's pressure and fluid is moving. My car doesn't exactly shake, suspension is pretty stiff by the way...Working on borrowing a multimeter so i can test the fan.I didn't wire it so not sure what wire is what.Appreciate the help,i'll get the fan fixed first and see what happen after.Oil is golden too so i assume the gasket is good

by the way i updated my post while you posted yours possibly...the little bubbles kinda indicate to me of a head gasket/cracked block/warped head problem, ive seen head gaskets go and still not make the oil milky, just depends on where the problem lies...i definitely wouldnt start the car again until you can get the fan running good...the clutched fan might be in the way, but it is nice that the puppy just runs...
and btw, i LoL'ed over the "my car doesn't exactly shake" part...i love having a car like that haha...
ill keep a watch on this thread and help you solve this problem...the day i brought my 240 to my house after 4hr drive i had zero problems and it overheated after i turned the car off in the driveway and pulled my hair out trying to figure out why it did it the one time...the ka coolent system isnt very complicated...look on the bright side, if your motor is toast people are practically giving kas away haha

well, if it's only heats up while your idling then it's most likely a fan problem.

ya lets start there and go from there

If it over heats when it is sitting still, then cools down when you start rolling with some speed, then it is, without a doubt, a problem with your fans.

The OP stated it happens when he's driving or not...
Id start with getting the fan running or getting the stock clutched fan on it, but its more than likely the head gasket...
My other question is; when the car is running, when you look through the opening on the radiator with the cap off, do you see coolent flowing...that way I can rule out the water pump or not
