Hey guys awhile ago i posted about my 240sx fastback that i was trying to "restore" well heres the update.

I removed all of the interior panels hte dash the automatic seatbelts the carpet and the roofliner and this guy put white vinyl sound proofing EVERYWHERE under the carpet under th roof lining he even filled up behind the front FENDER! Im not sure why. He aslo had wood screws all over the trunk and sides of the interior. I am currently in the process of removing the fenders, bumpers, white vinyle, wood screw, the custom made sub box(he cut into the car and put it in the wall slopely),the spray in foam, and the support behind the dash.

MORE BAD NEWS
I was starting to remove the fender today when i noticed a gaping whole in the car form the bottom rite in front of the rigght rear tire. My assumption is he jacked it up on this point with a normal jack you have around your house(not the one with the car) and it eventually broke threw and rusted. Its horrible! I think i need to grind off the entire piece(it goes into the car) adn replace it. Any SUGGESTIONS would be helpful. Also there is some rust holes in the spare tire holder.

Good News
-Matt(boostin) gave me a free dash with hud, free froont seats and free non power seatbelts!
-Matt(mbmbmb) gave me free front and rear seats!
-I almost got the fenders and bumper off in which i just have to knock out a few dents and repair the bumper then primer them all!
-I am planning to put in doors with all power options

As for the SR
THe engine is wating for me to drop the crank then im going to have the block and head boiled(or whatever chemical they use) I am going to have the pistons polished, then i plan to port out the head as well as manifolds and replace all seals and rings, and repaint the valve cover.

After which i will buy an fmic, boost controller , ecu and wiring harness and drop it in the car!

Well its a project and you WILL learn a whole lot. In the end, if you do it the way you want, you will be happy though. Trust me...

As far as fixing that rust hole the ideal thing would be to cut out the hole and weld in a square patch. If you cannot do that, I think an alternative would be to cut out the hole, grind the edges to smooth bare metal, spray the bare metal with primer, and then place a slightly oversized peice of metal on both sides of the hole (sandwiching the hole) and then rivet the peices together. You could even put JB weld between the metal peices and around the edges of the metal plates. I'll attach a pic of what I mean.

I'm kinda in the same situation as you are, bought a S14 but a lot of rust and some holes. I've used a product called por-15 to prevent anymore rust, it's a long process, you have to nuetralize the rust them coat it with a por-15. It seems to work fgood. My neighbor has it on his car, a 1960's firebird or some domestic like that, he's the one that recommended it to me in the first place. but be warned if you don't prep the metal right it won't work as good

POR-15 is great stuff.
Every muscle car guy I know uses it.
Hell, visit their website, www.por-15.com ,they make all kinds of super-tough paints and refinishing products.
My understanding, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that most of the por-15 products were originally meant for the marine industry; so, it's excessively tough ****.

Dang matt thats a really good idea i may do that if i cant replace the whole piece. Zoltan i am user some generic brand rust like solidifier its supposed to turn it too metal but i just use it to spray the spots i havent got rid of the rust yet then i sand it wit sand paper when i get around to it and spray it again to completely eliminate all rust good idea goodluck with your car

Be careful with rust converters.
Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
I'd be especially wary of the cheap stuff.
