i've been looking and looking, and cannot find evidence of one ever being built. plenty of "lolz i own a vert shell and an ls1", but never pictures of the two merged into one. can somebody google this for me? i'd really like to see one.

this is the closest i've found. the engine is not in the car and the last post was in August.

okay seriously, i can't find evidence of it ever being done, or an explanation for why it hasn't been done. anything at all would be great.

It's been done.

Ask this guy. He owns one.

He gave up. He's on a local TN. forum. That engine is now going in a '55 ford.

This was actually my intention with my vert project. Instead I found a deal on a built SR. I still have the longblock and the vert shell :yum:.

alright, i just found pictures of an lsx convertible.
but here's the deal, they're just pictures. there has to be a reason why this is such an uncommon swap, right?

why would there be a reason? The only reason i could think is that theres not that many verts even out there plus alot of ppl dont like them. But there is one getting built in the stl area by a friend of mine

why does it matter if its ever been done... 95% of things that people think have never been done already been done by the people that don't post it up on the internet. So be like Nike and just do it.

There is a good reason why this swap is so uncommon...
And its because vert's physically/structurally suck.

v8 needs a legit/strong chassis for containing its torquey self.

If i was building Lsx s-chassis a vert would be my very very last choice.

Ernies Vert had a Nissan V8 and was full white bunny kit.

Theres some NorCal guys that have one, its a hatch that was chopped into a vert.

The reason you dont see any is because it doesnt make sense.
People that LS cars are really into drifting.
So the Vert, as a Chasis for a serious drift car just doesnt make much sense.

Pretty sure I saw this same guy at D1 in Chicago, the thing that caught my eye, was literally like a 5 1/2in exhaust that thing was loud as fck.

Here's the deal with the 'vert chassis - it's heavier, and not as stiff - but neither of those things matter when you cage it. You can remove the top and it's hydraulics, remove the side glass and their motors, remove the chassis reinforcement metal, etc, and the cage ties the frame rails/unibody to itself stronger than any OEM roof will. It's cool for a comp car, not so much for a street car.

Problem is, Formula D won't let you cut into the unibody. That's why we all kind of chuckled when Josh Chang (norcal guy with the LS1 hatchback that cut the roof off) did his. Oops, chassis no longer legal for any competition that feeds Formula D - that means pro-am too. He's a cool dude though.

Ernie's white vert was rad, just didn't have LSX-levels of power.

.,..but yeah, he bought my buddies vert, and i hear he's basically putting all his 'ish from the hatch into it......like his new ls1

im not all about verts,.. they can be cool, but i think at the end of the day, id rather just have a coupe
